PM backs teacher veil suspension

He backs the local authority in taking actions. That is slightyl different from backing the actual suspension.

(and I do not like to defend the guy, so please do not make me.)

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

He did say veils are a "symbol of seperation".

I wonder how long it took them to come with that.

Symbol of seperation. Has a ring to it doesn't it?

But they are!

Just like beards.

A part of the reasoning is to differentiate.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

They mean "symbol of seperation" as a bad thing.

If they thought it was a "good" thing they would have said it was a "denotation of distinction", "personification of plurality" or even "mark of multiplicity".
