Only heard the last half hour.
The points made about parents and mosque imams accepting some of the blame for extremism, I agree with.
The comment that we had voted Labour into government so shouldnt complain about foreign policy was ridiculous - brother Zahid argued that well.
The comment at the end from brother Irfan Khan (who did a really good job at presenting - his accent isn't as strong as brother Zahids!) regarding not many of us would attend a talk at a mosque to learn about Islam, ie the true meaning of Jihad etc, is very true - but the imams should give such talks on occasions such as in the khutbas on Jummah, especially during the school holidays when some kids do attend, and on Eid Jamaat when the mosque is brimful.
I'm looking forward to the Mosque debate tomorrow.

I heard the show last night. I sent a couple of texts regarding the importance of having Islamic study classes, etc for the sisters and about not just targeting the old and the really pious.
The newsletter thing you're putting together for the Imams is a really good idea. Surprised no-one thought of it before.
Both shows were good and made some very valid points....which in this moment in time i cant mind...
Ed you should always be on that show, way to go, I think you did great. However the rest of the guys seem very loud and intimadating which makes me think twice before I call! (But nonetheless they do a great job too)
Issues that will be covered are: Jack Straws comments on removing the veil, veil and hijab in Islam, are muslims picked on, ar emuslims a soft target, or are muslims in denial, do they like playing the victim, why do muslims get upset on every single issue....etc.
So have your say ppl:

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
The collusion of the world to starve the palestinians to death? It is far more important.
They are under virtuallt total blockade from before the Lebanon crisis. and financial blockade from even earlier.

 the world is starving the palestinians to death??? what???
more or less.
Not maybe to death, death. But not far off.
They are not allowed to enter their work places in quite a few locations.
Tax money collected 'on behalf of the Palestinians' is not handed over, and all international donor programs have been put on hiatus.
and most checkpoints are closed, not allowing the free movement of goods or people.
and no one is paying attention.

It is because Hamas came into power and abrogated past agreements. They do not have to starve, the PA has money. But if they do it will be because of that. ftr there is still plenty of aid supposedly going to the Palestinians.
We do not call ourselves "a light unto the nations". That was God's promise to Abraham of his descendents. I don't know if you consider yourself a descendent of Abraham. It is very inspiring and to suggest we Jews simply assume we can sit on our hands and not actually strive to be a light unto the nations is hostile and incorrect. On the same point, the idea of being the chosen people is that the Jews received the 10 commandments and the Torah, a total of 613 commandments (traditionally), plus the rabbinic laws. Again, the suggestion that we claim innate superiority can only come from a hostile outsider. It is a nasty subversion of what we believe and the tone of your comment was generally nasty. To inform someone that way makes you a mean-spirited piece of work. Nor has Israel ever justified anything in international law by reference to divine promises. I might as well apply your cynicism to everything you stand for on religious principle, and link everything you say to blind faith. Pretty ridiculous, yes?
As for your last remark, the Arab countries have been treading all over the Palestinians and using them as cannon fodder for decades.

isreal V lebanon?

Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.
both of those are potential crisis.
But what of the middle east catastrophe?
The collusion of the world to starve the palestinians to death? It is far more important.
They are under virtuallt total blockade from before the Lebanon crisis. and financial blockade from even earlier.
