Don't know anyone who's doing the same course as me so guess will be alone . But I guess uni is the time where people start getting more independant.
What's the diffrence between lectures & tutorials?....I heard tutorials are more important.
The people who are in uni....Do you have laptops?....is it essential?....(other than playing games or watching dvd's)
So you guys are saying that lectures are optional?
Sirus, if you have loads to do in uni then how can you flex 24/7? :? ....unless you've been cheating

don't listen to sirus, study hard it will be worth it in the end regardless how hard or boring its going to be to get to that stage!

I'm gonna study hard but scared that I might fail, mostly of upsetting my parents.
Angel can you also answer the above questions?

Induction takes maybe 2 hours and basicaly you are given an intro to your course, so that will lead up to lunch break and then ur enrolment will start, that will take long depending if you get ahead of queue as u will be required to get ur pics taken and ur fees sorted out. All we needed was our letter of confirmation that we are in the course and proof of SAAS paying our fees (mite be a lil diff for u guys) You dont passport or other documents as far as I am aware
"Muslim Bro" wrote:

Lectures are as name states u sit and listen and are lectured, tutorials can be group work/presentations etc

Some do have laptops but very rarely, but nowt rong with using them if u prefer it to writing

Nope you shud attend lectures as it helps u take in more but i found them boring and 9am lect are too early! Plus we had most of our notes uploaded on blackboard, so we were lucky.
Hope that helps and dont be scared, you’ll be fine, just make frends and stick with them.

I've got the confirmation letter from ucas, and something called a 'financial notification' which states the tuition fee loan I'm taking out. The uni are also asking for my passport or driving licence as they want proof of identity.
"Angel" wrote:

Does that involve oral presentations?....I blush and get so nervous. But the people I'll be working with, they will be in my class yeah. In other words will I be working with them regularly?
"Angel" wrote:

Is lectures the only time when I will need a laptop, as I've seen some come with a built-in mic so you can record the whole lecture and write it up later. And I heard that the computer area in our uni gets really busy so a laptop would be convenient.

So what you're saying is that I should attend lectures but I can miss a few sessions without getting into trouble? Are the blackboards you're referring to the ones were you use a chalk or are they the electronic ones?

a laptop is convenient, but also remember it helps to take in the lecture if u write out what is being said. Depends on how u learn though.

I think its important to go to all ur lectures cuz u are paying for it and plus its for ur own benefit even though u probably have to do most of ur learning outside of class. Its alright to miss a few lectures but it usually becomes a habit tho and u end up doing it regularly, so try not to do that.

trust me, dont bother with inductions
the most you should do is go in the start, grip the materials yourself, and leave
waste of time
you can figure everything out yourself, isnt that hard, and you can always ask a few people.
you can also throw away most of the rubbish they give you.
you dont need a laptop
tutorials are very helpful, lectures are kinda important - depends on the lecturer tho
no i havnt been cheating
im startin uni this year 3 days later than every1 else lol
jus relax, 1st year is a doddle
you still have the 'honeymoon' period yet, the 1st month or so
