I like to be on my own when I'm upset. i won't detail what i do, but in times of affliction, sorrow and grief most of us turn to God more than we do than we're in comfort. I guess mankind is inherently ungrateful. So i take the opportunity to repent of my sins, it makes me feel a lot better by the next day.
Years ago when i listened to music i would put on sad sad songs, but as you already mentioned it does nothing but make you feel worse. It's like a person taking drugs or alcohol it does nothing but mask the symptoms, and when you awake you feel worse. Turning to God is the best thing anyone could do to lift the misery.

most true.....its amazing how one feels so much better and gets that inner feeling of peace in the heart when one turns to allah when it comes to sadness, we should be grateful we have allah almighty to turn to.It makes one feel 10 times better and relaxed than before and makes one B more patient.
I feel better already*

Not all.
Only women get sad for no reason.
How on Earth could any normal person manage to do that for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
Just think about it.

I’ve read that book. It’s fantastic. I strongly recommend it everyone…I love the way its so simple and really does make you feel better.
And I totally agree with you….I too turn to God when I’m upset over something….a few hours sobbing on the prayer mat, doing Tobah etc usually makes me feel better too….after I do that, I feel so incredibly peaceful and the problem seem minor too.
What’s really sad is how we only ever fully turn to God when we’re afflicted by some misfortune or stressed out due to something. :?

when i am sad, i cry and cry and then cry some more, when i am sad for no apparent reason, i flip out and scream at everyone around me and can sulk for hours - thats when everyone should avoid me.
