How tempting is living abroad...especially in view of the world situation about islam? I would love to live in either cyprus or southern spain....good weather, good food, generally good way of life.....relaxing!!!!!!!!!....maybe one day inshaallah !!!!!
What about the forum.......where and why?
I live all over the place... It gets taxing, I guess as long as you like where you are stay in one spot if not then don't go home hopping.
I've been seriously contemplating living abroad for some time now.
I want to teach abroad...either Africa or Bahrain. They're recruiting at the moment...
Its only practicalities that hold me back.
My job offers me many opportunities to work abroad, mainly dubai and south africa.......and even canada......
I have always had an ambition to live abroad......since a young age....I have always thought about NZ originally, but since then I thought why not somewhere near to britain..........which is also good....hence southern spain/cyprus......
I have realised that many people from the subcontinent especially pakistani kashmiris are concentrated in communities formed in either britain (england) or USA..... And not many other countries......why is this???
coz pakistanis, bengalis and indians seem to think the streets of england and usa are paved with gold. Ask them back home they often think those living here are rich and are living an easy life, little do they realise u have to work for it 9-5 and you have no servants to do domestic chores. They don't believe a word of it though not until they arrive here then they wish they hadn't come.
Some see it as a land of opportunities, i suppose it is, but easy life i think not.
....how true......some people from subcontinent reckon money grows on trees..........but can we blame them ??????? Is this image not a consequence of the behaviour of some people who every so often visit pakistan and flash Wads of money as if it really is grown on trees....when most of these very same people are sponging from the dole in britain anyhow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Life is defo not easy in the UK...............firstly house work never seems to end!!
In Pakistan, the servant has it all done for 12noon!! eat at 1pm, have a nap. At 4pm tea is served!!
Here?????????? I run around ALL day like a headless chicken!! Take one kid to nursery, the other one to school!! cook!! clean! pick the kids up! take one to kumon, then mosque!! feed the family!! and by this time I'm shattered!!! And the shopping and laundry has to be fitted in around somewhere too!!
But I still prefer life in the UK!! I get bored in PK!! I've checked it out for 7months!! I thought my kids would pick up lots on islam!! But did they?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! He knew BOLLYWOOD songs though!!! That was two years ago!! Now he doesn't know what bollywood is!!
live and let live!!!!!!!
7 months......that is a fair stint !
Another point I wish to make is ...... I often hear elders bad mouthing britain for numerous reasons ..... mainly because of the supposed influence of western/british culture........... but what I always ask is ... How Islamic is Pakistan? My very brief stints in comparison gave me the lasting impression of "not very much" .......... I sensed a very matlab attitude from locals !!!!!!!!!!
Britain and more so british people in my opinion are much more honest, caring and genuine.
Who agrees????
Dubai
no taxes
dubai digusts me the double standards, the affluent super complexes made for the mega rich, the mistreatment of south asian labourers, tall rise buildings and man made islands taking over the skyline and the coast leaving very little for the average locals to enjoy. The pretence of shariah on the one hand but bikini ridden beaches and clubs just across the rd, the contrasts stink. they're just another western country why call them a muslim country just coz there are some muslims there so flippin what? i detest that place coz of the hypocrisy it stands for.
The funny thing is you see the rich arab men dressed like pious sheikhs in their long robes and turbans forbidding all sorts to the muslims, yet u can picture them in magazines such as the geographic socialising with rich western women as they sip on alcohol? The double standards and superficial appearances make me utterly sick i wouldn't step foot there. So what if the gold is cheap and they have mega malls for women to buy their jilbabs and men to get good scents, that doesn't tempt me in the least. That's my rant for the day!
I AGREE!! Islam in pakistan?? I saw little of that side when I was there in 2004!
Uk is a great place to live and work! I have relatives living in Norway. When I saw the kids over there, I was sooooo shocked! They ARE the westerners!!
The girls sleep have sleep overs at friends houses! They even go away for weekends with their friends family!! Its normal over there to do that!! The kids feel left out otherwise. I don't even worry about that over here!!
live and let live!!!!!!!
yash,
you're right about dubai, but i did enjoy jet-skiing there and wouldn't mind trying out that indoor ski slope some time... by bros went skuba-diving too, the lucky so&so's. i don't really like shopping myself so we went more for outdoor activities, like the desert safari, that was good fun too. anyway i'm meant to be saying how i agree with you so have you been to sharjah? its 'shaykh' or ameer is more conservative so there's more of an islamic influence on its culture than western.

I have to agree with aot of wot u said!! You are right! Its just an islamic country by name!!! But I do like the Shopping!!
live and let live!!!!!!!
Kumon is a after school study programme. It helps children in Maths and English. He goes in twice a week. Monday and thursday. Each time for about 20-30mins. And then gets homework for each day that they don't go to the kumon centre. And this helps with becoming self learners.
live and let live!!!!!!!
It was on tv that Dubai is going to run out of oil, I think it's in 2015, that's why it's trying to attract as many people as it can from the west to live in Dubai. Apparently half of the england team have reserved their house on the man made islands. (Btw has anyone tried using google earth to see the islands?.....if not, it's below)

If they banned women from wearing bikini's on beaches, do you think people from the west would like to come to Dubai to lie down on the beaches all covered up?.....it's all about money and tourism.
i don't mean to curse no one but the building of these islands reminds me of a passage in the Quran where Allah says that towards the end of time ppl will compete with each other to build grand buildings so they can boast which country is the most technologically advanced and "civilised" . i can't help but draw comparisons to the building of these artificial islands surely they will sink just as speedily as they were built, mother nature will see to that.
I wish to add my name to the list of "Dubai Condemnation". When I visited dubai, I realised how of much the labour force is originating from the sub-continent and how they are treated Prior to visting dubai my perception of some of the modern day arab populus was somewhat already forged as "arrogant" and "proud". However, visiting Dubai reinforced my this perception into more of a conviction.
I have since refused opportunities to work in dubai on this premise.
The way sub-continent muslims are treated in the modern day arab world is a common trend amongst the oil rich states, as well as the arrogance and pride, though dubai is not foremost in this quality.
random dubai story:
You know how all the taxi drivers there are either pakistani or afghani, once an afghani taxi driver started showing my bros his war wounds from when he fought in Afghanistan! he had a scar from a bullet he took in the shoulder... he said he was recuperating, earning some money, and then going back. that's the closest i've been to seeing the effects of the 'War on Terror', it was surreal. it's so easy sometimes to read the next news headline and switch off because you've read something like it so many times before, it's like it doesn't register. actually meeting someone from a war-torn region changes everything.

That story seems amazing to me...........
Why would a cab driver in "Dubai" risk getting gripped by law in a country where he would probably get tortured!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And why would someone "Showoff" about such an action???? .... Is showing off about such occurences "islamic".......????
