@ NewModontheBlock (Whoever you are... I can't remember ): Only I can lock topics for no reason.

If pointless chatter is locked, we will not have many topics on here. Just make sure things are not over the top, meet the rules etc etc (which reminds me - I need to read them. Can't remember exactly what is banned!)

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

That's good to know. I created a poll the other day with some additional names on it - Angel, Bliss, Dave, Dawud, Imaani, iRazor, Joie de Vivre, Naz, Snoopz and Oldham_Lad25. The idea was to make it a comprehensive thing and then to have a run-off between a few from each poll, since Sirus' list isn't very official-looking. But New Mod deleted it immediately. With Funzo making a strong showing I feel pretty well validated. What do you reckon?

I think to call ti square, I should delete the other one we have now. I do not like all this back patting. (Can't believe I kept my peace for so long!)

You read my mind. Go for it Admin, that thread has been nothing but trouble.

Lol

Seriously guys, I've found myself skipping through most threads because they're full of rubbish. I know I'm usually the one to post irrelevant stuff, but this is too much.

I preferred the forum when it was dead; at least what little stuff that was posted was worth reading!

Don't just do something! Stand there.

has anybody here walked up every street in manchester?

how is that even possible?

He dances with ecstasy and delight.

What do you guys think about gang violence?

We hire a bigger gang to beat them up.

They're called the Cops.

coz i have learned to live without it plus i dont get much time these days to watch the telly. Everytime i think im getting over the fact that prison break is on every monday and i cant watch it you come on this forum saying how brill it is and i feel that im losing the will to live lol. I remeber watching season 2 and having sleepless nights just thinking about what would happen in the nest episode (i know im weird). Is the new series just as good as the first and second or you just saying that to make me feel bad?

"Funzi" wrote:

I dont really think thats a problemo amongst the Muslim youth.

In my area it is especially between pakistanis and bangladeshis and also non-muslim vs muslim violence. Recently one of my friends was beaten up when walking to the park by non-muslims and now the people responsible have to have extra security e.g ducking when they drive past. Also they tried to disgrace the prophet pbuh name but they where fools because they can never do that and they never will.

well thats more to do with racism then gang violence.

No not the gum drop buttons! – Gingy

But it is a problem or do we brush it aside because it didnt involve religion, how the hell are the muslim youth ever going to better themselves when a) there's not a lot help b) everyone is brushing aside because we are young.

'muslim' isn't a race.

I didnt explain properly my friend was part of a gang who are muslims then he got beaten up by members of another gang who werent muslims.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

well that would depend on the motive of the attacker. You dont just go around beating the crap out of someone for no reason.

Where a town consists of at least two different groups of ppl 9 tims out of 10 someones colour/race/religion etc will be the reason. Eg Oldham and Bradford riots.

Places like moss side where the community is made up of predominantly black ppl now thats where there is gang violence.

I think with the Muslim youth gang violence is not that much of a problem. The main problem is drugs (they should all pick up the phone and talk to Frank).

No not the gum drop buttons! – Gingy

TRUST ME it is an issue i should know, but no offence to you. Muslims these days want to copy older drug dealers and "gangsters" and by running in gangs they satisfy this need but then the need gets bigger into drugs etc. I cant stress this enough, it is a problem for where i live.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

i agree with u... some of my classmates are all into the same stuff. the new sheesha rubbish thats been going round, the hanging about in big gangs and trying to look bad...

If you desire Allah to be persistent in granting you the things you love,, be persistent in doing the things that he loves - (Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal)

No offence taken. Your probs right i dont live in an asian, never have so im no expert.

I can second what Funzo is saying. I don't imagine gang issues are particularly worse in Muslim communities, but the social deprivation of many immigrant areas can certainly lead to pretty awful social values, same as in other "deprived" areas ( - I put deprived in inverted commas because it ought to be possible to exploit state education and have higher ambitions no matter where). In any event I have been familiar with Muslim gangs and the tensions in Bedford and Luton are well known. Like Funzo says, the problem there is one of BNP/White Pride vs young mostly Muslim gangstas. Drug dealing and other illegal activities are a big part of it.

The only solution is to raise your game and stay out of it, and let those who are causing problems either take heed or pay a price. A good friend ought to talk straight about it. Otherwise, in a best case scenario, that price comes at the hands of the law rather than any gang.

There are Muslim gangs in Manchester as well. And there are lots of gangs, not just Muslim.

If someone beat me up, chances are revenge would not cross my mind except at the hands of the police. But nobody's going to beat me up. Lol

But what do i do when i see my friend being put in hospital or them trying to insult my religion in the worst way possible.

Your familliar with bedford luton?

Not up close, or at least not relating to any of this. I just know a little about it. But the answer remains the same. You can make things worse or you can make things better. Worse means much worse. Strictly if you or others aren't actively helping your friends to stay out of trouble - and if you can't do that, fair enough - things will continue to slide.

If BNP are doing anything especially awful, you can let the police know, but don't assume they can always crack down, and don't get into the nitty gritty.

Most people, if something awful has happened, would do best to get over it and avoid a repeat.
