You know that hadith of Hadrat Abu Bakr....when he was being abused yet he remained quiet and the Holy Prophet told him that the angels were speaking on his behalf.
Also, remember the incident when a man swore at the mother of the great Imam Abu Hanifah, but he never retaliated.
Yeah, I know some find it easier to give as good as they get...however, with certain people arguing is futile.

So Minhaj lot curse at Yazeed? Despite what is said about him by the likes of Imam Ghazzali?
ajeeb.
And Dave - Yazeed did not kill Sayyidina Hussayn. There is no evidence whatsoever that Yazeed ordered the killing of Sayyidina Hussayn radhiyallahu anh - whereas there is great evidence of his deep regret and sadness at the time when the news reached him and the stories about his housefolk weeping with the ladies of Banu Hashim is famous.
Considering after this event the nephew of Yazeed - the son of his real sister Ramlah was married to Sakinah Bint Hussayn radhiyallahu anhuma - history bears testimony to a different relationship between Banu Umayya and Banu Hashim.
ALLAH knows best - if peoples leaders curse Yazeed and even use bad words for Sayyidina Muawiyah radhiyallahu anh then i dont expect much from them.

Aint that enought to tell you yazeed deserves no respect. Aren't you the one to declare those kafir who say things agains the companions yet when it comes to the family of Holy Prophet (saw), you don't hold the same view?
Yazeed killed/totured/disrespected the family of Holy Prophet (saw), in my eyes he deserves no respect.

The Ahlul Bayt are upon our heads - there is no doubt whatsoever in that.
Kindly provide references to show Yazeed ordered the killing/torture and disrespect of Ahlul Bayt. I dont want a debate. Get me the references pls and that will be sufficient.
And the real villains of Karbala were Ibn Ziyad and the KUFANS who made up the force that killed the Ahlul Bayt. It was these same Kufans, these same footsoldiers who four years later took out processions of monkey maatam and called themselves Tawwabun. And it is teh descendeents of these same Kufans who engage in monkey matam in ashurah. THEY are the ones who killed Ahlul Bayt.
Someone asked Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Umar how is it to kill flies? And the questioner was an Iraq.
Sayyidina ibn Umar replied - the people of Iraq killed the family of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam and they ask abt flies?
Anyways - once again get me some references please about Yazeed ordering the killing of the Ahlul Bayt.

my point was not for you to engage in another debate based on aqeedah.

From what I have read there is room to manuevre with regards to cursing Yazid.
Some Sunni scholars take the position he is directly responsible, others don't. Shi'as are the only ones that attach any religious meaning to it, it's not necessarily true to say there is an "official Sunni position" on Yazid's culpability in the death of Husayn - but - it doesn't make you sectarian to take a position either way on the issue.
What matters is whether Yazid died a Muslim or not - and whether he was repentent about the death of Husayn, if he died a Muslim and was repentent most Sunni scholars would say you cannot curse him. If the converse were the case you could curse him - though it is not something you would be rewarded for.
The issue of whether he died repentent or a Muslim is divided - some respected Sunni scholars say he did not others say he did. Either way both positions are with in the fold of Sunni Islam and do not represent seperate sects, consequently cursing him, while not recommended, does not constitute belonging to a new sect and does not mean you are breaking any Islamic ruling - you are simply subscribing to one official understanding over another.
But either way given his ineptness to govern resulting in revolts (which damaged the kaaba) Sunni scholars haven't been so kind on his legacy.

I didnt say anything about cursing Yazeed - the consensus according to my knowledge is that cursing Yazeed is of no benefit and infact there is no evidence for it to be done.
I was just interested for the information that others have that makes them curse Yazeed.

Sirus - cursing Yazeed is a branch of your aqeedah? I didnt know that. I knew the Rawaafidh have that as one of their five pillars - didnt knw Minhaj ul Quran had that aqeedah aswell. Learn a new thing everyday innit.
Your original question about Minhaj was whether cursing Yazid makes them sectarian.
My point is that Sunni scholarship goes both ways on the issue - that there is room to curse him and be within the fold of Sunni Islam. If that is the case they are not at odds with Sunni practices and jurisprudence and therefore do not represent "a sect." How then could they be sectarian?

What possible connection do you have to 9/11 that warrants you running around giving us a frank appraisal of who did it?
It's a pretty simple question - what right do you have to run around announcing your glorious conclusions... whatsoever? What is the relevant connection between you and 9/11? Are you American? In Al Qaeda? Do you fly on American Airliners frequently?

ok heres a connection, after 9/11 all muslims were stereotyped as being terrorist, islam became in the spotlight, muslim countries were invaded , In the uk attacks on muslims increased threfold, new laws were discussed that would affect us as british muslims, people came up to me who were not muslim wanting to know about islam (in uni) after 9/11, I am apart of the islamic community so yeh im connected as of all of us who are muslims.

You aren't addressing the issues at all. You're talking about Iraq, I'm talking about how you have absolutely no connection to warrant your obnoxious opinion of who is responsible for 9/11.
Iraq = Country
9/11 = Event
Seperate thoughts.

Hitler and Freud are history - 9/11 is an open wound, feel free to lecture the world with your exculpatory nonsense 60 years from now when it's approaching history. Accusing us and our government of killing our own citizens is obnoxious, ridiculous and arrogant.

Which gets to the crux of the matter - the only reason you are looking for alternative remedies for 9.11 is that you need it to be anyone but Muslims. Preferrably Jews since that would take care of your Israeli problem at the same time. Instead of addressing the problem of terrorism you'd much rather attack the credibility of the threat to begin with using sketchy evidence and ignoring the real evidence provided by the government and media. It's selective listening for the purpose of shifting a blame you percieve rests on yourself onto somebody else you feel more fitting.
Quote:

Because you've got nothing to do with 9/11. You're just ranting to get bin Laden off the hook.

You sympathize with the terrorists. Prove me wrong. I will not accept anything you or any of your friends say directly to the contrary as evidence since it is clearly biased. However I will reinterpret certain potentially damning comments you have said thusfar, put it to a hard rock backdrop with some photo montages of Adolph Hitler and allow my audience to judge for themselves whether you are sympathetic to Al Qaeda.
Because that is what legitimate inquiry is all about

sorry for the confusion, but you'll notice i put 'vs.' between every sect (deobandis vs. wahhabis) i.e. i was being general, just wanted to get across what a sect is, not specific tensions between specific sects. stupid way of putting that across, in hindsight.

Ya ALLAH Madad.

its called teaching our Aqeedah, what im sure all brelwi, deaboandi, salafi etc scholars do....teach their own aqeedah.
what my point was, there is no attacking other aqeedahs from the Minhaj Ul Quran (as dust said minhajis v wahabbi's)
my point was not for you to engage in another debate based on aqeedah.

The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.
Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,
Whatever will be, will be.

there's no concensus on the status of Yazeed and whether we should curse him or not. It's a complex issue i wouldn't argue about it is it that important? ive got plenty of leaders in mind that i'd rather curse if i had the time. Read the following if you're interested:
http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?HD=1&ID=1902&CATE=164
Imam Hussain's going against Yazid, and the Sunni view on Yazid. Can we curse him?
Either way both positions are with in the fold of Sunni Islam and do not represent seperate sects, consequently cursing him, while not recommended, does not constitute belonging to a new sect and does not mean you are breaking any Islamic ruling - you are simply subscribing to one official understanding over another.
http://www.sunnipath.com/resources/Questions/qa00002141.aspx
But either way given his ineptness to govern resulting in revolts (which damaged the kaaba) Sunni scholars haven't been so kind on his legacy.
I didnt say anything about cursing Yazeed - the consensus according to my knowledge is that cursing Yazeed is of no benefit and infact there is no evidence for it to be done.
I was just interested for the information that others have that makes them curse Yazeed.

lol I just posted that! Good find!
Sunnipath is a really useful site for these kinds of questions
i'm impressed Dave has done his reading he'd put most of us muslims to shame
Your original question about Minhaj was whether cursing Yazid makes them sectarian.
My point is that Sunni scholarship goes both ways on the issue - that there is room to curse him and be within the fold of Sunni Islam. If that is the case they are not at odds with Sunni practices and jurisprudence and therefore do not represent "a sect." How then could they be sectarian?
Thankyou.
Med - I have yet to see that lecture in full, and im wary of how you interpret things, so i dont see much point in commenting

you do not or cannot answer my questions so this ceases to be a debate and is rather pointless :?
I have no connection to 9/11 I am not a terrorist or a an american, however that doesnt mean i cant have an opinion, if you dont like my opinion fair do's but you cant stop me from expressing my opinion because you dont agree with it
i have no connection with sigment freud, I have no connection with hitler but i can still telll you about it, and when i express my opinions on it you will say 'your not german why you talking about hitler' :?
the right of freedom of speech :!:
here you go with connections again
ok heres a connection, after 9/11 all muslims were stereotyped as being terrorist, islam became in the spotlight, muslim countries were invaded , In the uk attacks on muslims increased threfold, new laws were discussed that would affect us as british muslims, people came up to me who were not muslim wanting to know about islam (in uni) after 9/11, I am apart of the islamic community so yeh im connected as of all of us who are muslims.
which party , is it formal or casaul dress , and why havent i recieved my invitation yet
everyone from now on to please Odysseus we have to state our connections with any topic we post about , otherwise our opinions are not valid
You aren't addressing the issues at all. You're talking about Iraq, I'm talking about how you have absolutely no connection to warrant your obnoxious opinion of who is responsible for 9/11.
Iraq = Country
Is not the same thing as the right to insult people. Wasn't that your (Muslims) whole point with regards to the Prophet Cartoons?
Which gets to the crux of the matter - the only reason you are looking for alternative remedies for 9.11 is that you need it to be anyone but Muslims. Preferrably Jews since that would take care of your Israeli problem at the same time. Instead of addressing the problem of terrorism you'd much rather attack the credibility of the threat to begin with using sketchy evidence and ignoring the real evidence provided by the government and media. It's selective listening for the purpose of shifting a blame you percieve rests on yourself onto somebody else you feel more fitting.
Because that is what legitimate inquiry is all about
*I bet ten points he doesn't get it.
10 points awarded to Odysseus
interesting debate,
Wa Salaam
oy vez! Forget this, I'm wasting my time
Where did Med go? I think I found a fatwa about his earlier question
sorry for the confusion, but you'll notice i put 'vs.' between every sect (deobandis vs. wahhabis) i.e. i was being general, just wanted to get across what a sect is, not specific tensions between specific sects. stupid way of putting that across, in hindsight.
