I do 1,500 cruches in the morning and an ab workout based on the baseball stretch. Works real well especially in the morning

lol this is why foreigners need to adopt a hands off policy on american phrases like "don't hate" or "you go girl" It's like little children playing with knives

I admire your dedication Dave. My friends from high school used to work very hard on their stomachs...one friend of mine would do 80-100 sit ups every night.

I've considered this many times too...but by night time I'm so sleepy, I just about manage to brush my hair/teeth and do my prayers before collapsing in bed.

If I was a tad bit more vain..I'd work out reg.

I can only actualy exercise at the gym, since i dont have time for that I cant join it Sad but once I get more time on my hands I will consider it. I can't do more than 10 sit-ups lol!

there are more ways to exercise than going to the gym. Wink why dont u take up a sport that u enjoy? 1 hour playing squash is probably more effective than an hour in the gym, lol.

Why don't you wear these electric muscle stimulation belt, they don't cost much and I tried it before. Just make sure the power level is switched right down before you put the fing on you.....as one of mate painfully experienced for making a mistake.

It won't work on a beer belly though Wink

lol... get thin by electricution... becoz your worth it.

My philosophy is be happy with the way you are, if your not change, if you cant be bothered to change it really dont matter that much to you anyway so no point in trying. Feel good on the inside and you'll feel good on the outside.

Me... i'll spend around 6 hours in the gym every week. Thats enough to keep me happy and get me decent enough exercise. I have the time and can afford it right about now, so i have no reason not to attend.

Losing flabby stomachs is all about diet - no fatty food - and no comple carbohydrates

people those electric things , or doing 10000 crunches a day never work, you need core exercises e.g. jogging , walking, running, press-ups and sit-ups

losing a gut is the hardest thing in the world , best thing to do is avoid getting fat in the first place or dont wear tight clothes Lol

erm not all fat is bad for you. Have you noticed foods high in fat tend to be low in carbs, and vice versa. So going for low fat foods won't necessarily work wonders for everyone.

Those electric devices you're on about mm i'm very sceptical about them. My friend said she has one. Other than giving you an electric buzz it won't really help you lose weight. It's more for toning, and perhaps relaxation. I think they're a gimmick, waste of money

If you wana tone up or lose weight there's no cutting corners sounds boring but you need a healthy balanced diet and daily exercise routine. Just doing sit ups sounds so boring i couldn't do that all the time.

Take up a sport you enjoy or aim to do at least 30 mins in the gym every other day.

As for those of you who say you haven't got time well, make time for your body otherwise you'll wake up one day and won't recognise yourself. If you can make time for studies, work, and hobbies you can make time for exercise.

Some of the most successful business men and women manage to work, have a personal life and still go through a gruelling exercise regime. It's all about organising yourself.

Gyms usually open early morning. So for those of you who say i have uni or work i can't go poor excuse

If money's an issue invest in sports equip i.e bike, skipping rope, exercise dvds, do something free jogging but that takes some endurance may not be everyones cup of tea.

Angel cycling sounds good for you, get a mate go cycling you must have some nice areas over your part of the country. Insha'Allah moving over there soon, so says my husband.

It doesn't give you electric shocks....just stimulates your muscles. Only works for toning and NOT for losing weight....as some people might like to think

It sounds crazy but it actually isn't that bad when you've used it. I'm lazy so it suits me Lol ....don't use it anymore though.
There shouldn't be any side effects....unless you overdo it.

I personally think people who go to the gym are wasting hard earned cash....just go jogging in your local park or if you live in a house with stairs you can try running up and down Lol

I learnt how to teach PE today in Uni...it was a lot of fun.

I was great at dance, aerobics, throwing the javelin etc....even though I was a pro at sprinting in high school, I seem to have forgotten how to run. :?

Only weight gain would most prob give me that much needed push to excercise regulary.

Playing games on your own can get very boring...if I had a tennis/badminton or basketball partner, I'd be a regular at these games.

Inshallah as soon as I can afford it, I'll join the gym.

Yeah i know there are other ways but the things is in a gym u dont look weird as a loner and I aint making the mistake of joining the gym with my cuz (coz she never bothered coming much!). Most of my mates/cousins are lazy so doing a sport on my own with unfamiliar people doesn't sound too fun.

Hey Yash maybe you and me can do cycling Biggrin lol so any idea where bouts in Scot you mite be moving to?

Is anyone here ever in pain after a full on/strenous working out session? Or after playing any sports?

What's the correct "cooling down" procedure that one should do after excercise to prevent the body from aching?

When I used to do weights I used to have a bath and relax for half an hour but that wouldn't be a good idea with the water drought we're having and if you wanna save on your water bills a shower wouldn't be bad.
After letting your body soak up some water you can then go to sleep ZzZzz

Salam every1 after a very long time away from the boards.

Firstly yeh i am in pain after training - i box and kickbox a few times a week and the hard sparring aswell as torturous fitness workout and bag work etc. is very hard on a persons body but after so many years u get used to it.

Regarding doing 1500 sit ups i think that once you manage to get past 200 there is something seriously wrong with what youre doing as remember it is always Quality and not Quantity, A lot of the boxers at my place are ripped (well developed 8! pacs) and they will do around 200 max but they do them properly and there hard crunches , leg raises etc.

Remebr that a 6 pac or flat stomach is made in the kitchen and only aided in the gym.

A clever mind can entertain a thought without accepting it

Sorry - regarding your question on cooling down etc. You should at least go through all the stretches that you do before hand which is crucial, and after you have fully stretched off it is important that you eat something decent and drink plenty of water.

Assalamu Alaikum,

I'm no expert but as Brother Yous already said you must stretch before and after exercise.

If you haven't exercised for a long time then you should begin with a gentle regime, then increase the difficulty level slowly. If you go straight into strenuous exercise immediately you could do damage.

One more sad fact if you're not in the habit of exercising it's quite natural to feel achy all over the next day. This is quite normal and will wear off after a few more sessions, don't worry
Wink
