His name wasn't Wahab though - it was Abdul Wahab, "the slave of" so that's probably why he was allowed to get away with it right?
Yeah as long as you have somethin b4 the name its cool like u have mentioned "slave of" . I thought his followers were named after him.... However some names are ALONE for Allah (swt).

Wahab is an attribute of ALLAH- not for humans.
Quote:
Wahabism: A derogatory term invented in the West to describe ultraconservative Muslims. It refers to Muhammad AbdelWahab, a reformer who lived in the 1800’s in present day Saudi Arabia who taught his contemporaries to return to the principles of Islam and to stay away from innovations.
Those who are guided by his teachings do not call themselves ‘Wahabi,’ nor do they consider themselves a different sect, though they tend to be more literal in their interpretations of text.

Abdul Wahab means the servant of one who gives freely

Al-Wahab is God
Not correct to call someone a Whabi-
Not correct to use the term, but a person can also be wahaab.
There are only two of God's names which are eclusive. Allah and Rahman. You cannot have then without something before them.
However someone can have a first name of wahaab. The 'Al' refers to 'the' which has connotations with 'the only' or 'the greatest' when it has nothing before it. So a person cannot be 'al wahaab'

There is also a diference in saying wahaab as a noun and alwahaab as a noun

Wahabi is islamically incorrect to call anyone. whether salafi or whatever.
Wahab is an attribute of ALLAH. not of humans. So to call someone a Wahabi is a sin.
Could you explain this, I was under the impression the word came from a man named Wahab.
Some names of Allah (swt) can be used for humans. Why is using the name Wahab a sin?

It sounds like you are saying Admin that there is a difference between saying "wahab" as an adjective and "Al-Wahab" as a noun.

The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.
Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,
Whatever will be, will be.
