General Questions

Allahuakbar

Salaam,

I just have a few questions to ask and would be very grateful if anyone could help me with them. Firstly I would like to say that I have been reading the English translation of the Qur'an and I would definately recommend it. Most of us will probably never learn arabic so the least we can do is read the translation.

1) Why does Jesus (pbuh) refer to God as "father" in the Bible?

2) Regarding 2 women witnesses in the Qur'an, I read it and it says there should be 2 women, in case one is in error, I was told that it was just in case one woman was having menstrual problems/pain whatever u wanna call it? Is this the reasion why?

3) The one which intrigues me most is why does a woman only get a quarter of inheritance and the male gets half? Im assuming it has something to do with the responsibility of the male to organise the funeral etc.???

Please don't think I am doubting the Qur'an, astaghfirullah, that I would never do. What I do know is that there is always a logical reason behind every statement in the Qur'an.

Ruling Concerning Wearing Nose rings

Question: What is the ruling concerning wearing nose rings for beautification?

Response: It is permissible for a woman to beautify herself according to what is customary, even if that means she has to pierce part of her body, such as is the case with earrings.

Shaikh ibn Jibreen

http://islamic-world.net/sister/question.htm

^^that fatwa says that if its "customary" she can pierce what she wants

anyway-I'm gonna ask a non-extremist scholar
shaykh hamza yusuf is one of the biggest scholars in the world today
he has almost a goatie...does that make him a dodgy scholar...does he therefore have no knowledge?
i dont think so.
maybe his beard is not willing to grow, not everyone is fortunate for the full long beard. my cuz bro never shaved ...years passed still goatee like beard...may he be blessed.

You — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 21:45

Its not a physical condition.

Just like Qari Abdul Basit. He did not keep a beard, but people always tried to excuse it by saying things such as he could not grow one etc.

If you shave, it will not grow.

Medarris — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 22:33

Alhamdulillah i shall maintain silence in regards to some1s reply to my post.

Can any1 answer what the ahnaaf of minhaj.org say abt the beard and its length. I understood this to be a general questions thread, in which a person can ask a general qsn.

Further, those who belittle the importance of the beard should ponder over the condition of their hearts. By us the ''smallest'' sunnah is more beloved to us than the world and what is in it. I remind the people about my posts regarding the Blessed Goat and Noble Slippers of Nubuwwat salallahu alayhi wa sallam. By us every sunnah, even the Holy Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallams like for kadoo, is a beloved act.

Further, I and the people of our jama'ah are called Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah. viz we are the People of the SUNNAH and the Sahabah Karaam. We are not called the Ahlul Halaal wal Mubaah. viz the People of halaal and permissible acts.

Alhamdulillah we call ourselves the people of sunnah and the Sahabah, there are many things that are halal that are not sunnah, many things mubaah but not sunnah but we claim to be the People of Sunnah and the Sahabah. Hence those who make false claims to be Ahlus Sunnah should ponder, and think over what ALLAH has given them. The beard is indeed a beautiful sunnah, my qsn abt minhaj.org and its views still remain, cud any1 be so kind as to explain the issue to me?

You — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 22:39

A beard is very important. However it is not the be all and the end all.

The reason Ed always goes on a rant about beards is because he knows some people who will only concentrate on the beard...

Medarris — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 22:44

Am i to take it that I wont get a full answer?,

k, i asked. the reply is not in my hands

You — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 22:45

If I knew the position, I would answer. Is it any different from anyone elses? what is everybody elses.

I will leave it for a minhajian to reply.

how many minhajan scholar brothers are there on this site?

MuslimSisLilSis — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 22:49
dunno.
None.

But just to make sure...

Will all the Minhaj scholar brothers, clued up on the rulings on the beard, please stand up.

You — Fri, 28 Oct 2005 - 23:00

Ok.. I'll try. You can slaughter me if I get it wrong.

I have heard something about it a few years ago.

their position:

A beard is either waajib or Sunnah Muakkadah (I dunno which is their position).

A beard of four sunnah is Sunnah. Four fingers starting under the lip. I think.

There is evidence the prophet trimming his beard, but none of anyone condemning a beard that was smaller than a fist. As there is evidence of people having a beard larger than a fist.

So the final position? Dunno.

Muhtarama it is a salient feature of the Ahlul Bid'a that they engage in innovation, otherwise they wudnt be Ahlul Bid'a.

I advise u done ur bit, guidance is in ALLAH's hands, we are only bound to pass the message on.

u cant take your own interpretation from a fatwa - that one is clearly in response to nose-piercing. ul hav to find one where the question addresses belly button piercing.

btw, it was quite unfair of u to imply that naj's fatwa was automatically by 'extremist' scholars. u should look past the person and see what the scholars have said.

i think the hanafi opinion is that piercing anything other than the ears and nose is forbidden.

Sirus — Sat, 29 Oct 2005 - 10:51

why would you pierce your belly button?

if it looks 'pretty'.......who for? supposed to be covered isnt it?

Maybe ppl wana do it for themselves, it looks pretty for them to see

Personally i dont think there is any reason why it should be forbidden unless its to do with the belly button getin infected but wudnt the same apply to ears, nose etc?

Having said that i wud never get it done, i cud imagine it to be sore!

Sirus — Sat, 29 Oct 2005 - 10:57

imitating the kafir 😂

thats a joke, but i dont knw what the position is - but im guessin its one of them, some will say total NO, others will say providing this and that
