What Do YOU Pray For?
Salaam
Dua’s are not only the spontaneous outpourings of man's heart before his Lord, but are also an expression of his sense of nearness to Him. If one were to know how much a man supplicates, and what he supplicates about, and how he supplicates, one would be able to see how much spirituality is there in his soul.
In many circumstances we find people, totally helpless or without any means to defend themselves against wrongdoing and oppression say "all we have is the power of supplication"
To say that "it is all we have” is rather ironic, given that there is no power or might except with Allah (swt).
Sincere supplication is very powerful, and Allah (swt) answers the prayers of those who call on him earnestly.
Dua is such a powerful Ibaadat that it can create and alter Qismat (destiny).Allah (swt) is so unbelievably generous and if His servant raises his hands towards Him, He feels reluctant not to accept it.
If Allah (swt) servant keeps his mouth shut and does not ask anything from Him, nothing will be given to him. Therefore we should ask Allah (swt) for what we need so that He will give it to us. It is said that "Whoever knocks on a door persistently will be allowed in" Hence, if we keep on knocking the door of Divine Mercy, sooner or later it will be opened for us.
Dua’s….we all make them, some more then others. Some make Dua every day, after every Salaah and some pray every night before bed.
What do you ask for from your lord?-Health? Wealth? Happiness? Iman? Taqwa? Peace? Looks? Popularity?
Share your Dua’s….
Wasalam

Is it wrong to pray for someone to fall in love with you?

Why?[/quote]
Bcoz 'love' falls under free will.
We freely... willingly... fall in love with someone. Thats our right as humans... free will. God refuses to tamper with free will... wont go into why here.
The person either likes you... or he doesnt... yet. Its your job to open his eyes.
I'll leave the 'how' and 'why' to you.

God can do anything. In Islam I heard that dua's are always answered.
I dont understand your reasoning.

dua's are answered but maybe not always in the way we expected or even wanted - sometimes the thing we think is good 4 us really is not and the thing we think is not good 4 us in reality is....so we should make dua yes but should also accept the outcome whether its what we want or not because at the end of the day Allah knows best

I said i wasnt going to get into this as its mind-numing stuff.
Yes God can do anything and everything but that doesnt mean he will. Its like why does God let Evil people live?? What do you think he likes evil people?? Noooo, its coz they've chosen to be like that... hence free-will. If he chose to he could smite them and smite them good but its the fact that he gave all of the sons and daughters of Adam the ability to choose to be good rather than evil otherwise we'd be no different than the angels (who hav no free will of their own).
Just bcoz you make Dua doesnt necessarily mean it will be accepted or will be answered in the way you want. Its Gods responsibility to show you the way ... if you choose to see it.
My advice ask God to show you the right way. The rest will fall into place.

on its own, i'd say yes. because thats assuming the person is right for you, but as human beings we can never be 100% sure. so u can make du'a for Allah to bring u and that person together IF it is best for the two of you in this world and the Hereafter.
as muslimkuri pointed out, sometimes we think we want something (that SEEMS great) but it may turn out that its the worst thing ever. so ultimately we should leave the decision up to Allah (s.w.t) and trust that He'll do whatever is best for you in this world and in the Hereafter. 🙂

I read in one of the posts here that dua and action go together. So would it be wrong for me to make the first move on this guy I sort of like as well as pray for it to happen?
Without crossing the line of course. Do men think any less of women who make the first move?

Depends on how you do it.
I wont go into the rules of attraction here... for obvious reasons  but subtlety is the key.

Thats not true!
I was just wondering thats all. There's this decent guy I know and I have a feeling he likes me too because he asked for my number but he just hasnt got round to calling me and talking to my parents about marraige. I was just wondering if I should make the first move by suggesting the idea first.
What Do YOU Pray For?
Nothing wrong with that, as long as you keep too the islamic way of doing it, Didn't Khadijah (ra) ask for the Prophet ﷺ hand in marriage. So there nothing wrong with this approach IMO.

Do boys get put off by forward girls? Is suggesting marraige being forward and shameless?
What Do YOU Pray For?

Yes. They consider such girls dangerous.
Boys start to have nightmares. Wet their beds all over again.
Men are suspicious of loose women.

Depend on how you put it, if you come out with it straight then possibly yes. But if you instead put the idea into his thinking then maybe it ok, so he still thinks it his own idea. Really depend on his character of the person really.
But generally your statemnent above is true.

islamically it isnt wrong at all for a woman to put forward the marriage proposal, as we see in the case of Khadija (r.a). but sadly in most cultures its considered 'forward' for a woman to do so.
there are so many things in culture which contradict Islam and we are quick to throw aside, but there are some things that are so deeply ingrained that it is difficult to imagine otherwise - in the Western, Asian and Arab culture it is almost 'wrong' for a woman to propose, even our generation sees it this way. which is really sad considering there's nothing wrong with it from an Islamic point of view. :?

Hints are acceptable to men, as long as the girl does not wink more than twice.
A girl, suggesting to a boy, a possible marriage, in a straight forwards way, is simply out:
She is asking to be politely elbowed.
He will give her the cold shoulder in a very diplomatic way. She will end up losing him.
The thing is that men don't like women doing the pulling, let alone pushing.
Here, I was, ofcourse, talking about their future wife, and not about girlfriends, who are expected to take initiative.

No. That didn't happen. Yuit just wants to read it that way.
Righteous lady like Khadija would not go up to the Holy Prophet and propose marriage.

so she sent the proposal through her friend Nafeesa (r.a.)
course she didnt go directly to the Prophet (s.a.w), but the point is: SHE proposed.

Thank you Aseya. Now you have understood my previous points.
I think the best thing we can ask for in duas is to ask Allah swt to grant us in Dunya which can only benefit us in the akhira, surely these are the dua we would want accepted for salvation. Though I wouldn't mind praying for Pro Evolution 5.
