Call for condemning and removing the blasphemous page on social network website
Dated: 19 May 2010
The extremist malicious elements have most condemnably launched a page on the social network website for the world’s most sacrilegious event to draw sketches of our beloved Messenger Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him). Their heinous designs intend to provoke the sentiments of billions of Muslims over the globe and force the world peace into the firestorm of outrageous protests and destructive demonstrations. Their sole objective is to injure the hearts of Muslims all over the world, and mire the international peace struggle steered by the peace loving Muslim communities into volcanic eruption of provocative protests.
The Minhaj-ul-Quran International most strongly condemns this spiteful conspiracy against the Muslims of the world and the peace process, and urges all the forces supporting the cause of peace, harmony, international brotherhood, co-existence and human rights to come forward and stop the atrocious extremists from playing a havoc with the Muslims of the world and humankind at large. They should get the most appallingly evil page removed from the social network website.
MQI urges on all peace loving countries and internet service providers to block the website immediately to control the desperate situation throughout the world, if the social network website fails to remove the blasphemous page from their network. The Minhaj-ul-Quran International also appeals all the Muslims of the world to understand the conspiracy and remain peaceful while protesting against the profane event of drawing unholy sketches and defeat the evil forces by safeguarding the global inter-faith harmony and the process of inter-communal integration among the world communities which the extremist element behind the scandalous event want to sabotage..We firmly believe that the TRUTH will prevail and the extremists and the evil enemies of the Muslims of the world and peaceful humankind will be disgracefully defeated in their sinful act of denigration and blasphemy.
Here is a different look at this - befor this news and before pakistan banned facebook over this, LESS people would have known about it and subsequently it would have less publicity.

practicing freedom
what the facebook is doing is the same as the newspapers that first printed this stuff, and the same as salman rushdie. They are gathering globally for kafirs to practice freedom,
and so hammer and break Islamic concepts.
Freedom to insult, is one of their pillars, why would they listen to you ?
be assured nothing can harm Islamic concepts, such acts only assault our egos, had we the ones who call ourselves Muslims been thoroughly lost in the the love of our dear prophet we would not be now condemners or complainers but instead be in the position of such authority that the world would be listening and acting on our advice - the maxim with freedom comes responsibility.
Ok so the problem's out there what do we do?
We ACT until it's sorted.

To whom is may concern,
According to your terms and conditions (number 6 and 7):
You will not bully, intimidate, or harass any user.
AND
You will not post content that: is hateful, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence.
I feel that Muslims are being victimised by the Mohammad Day group as a whole, specifically there are posts suggesting the Prophet was a rapist - amongst other crude things. This is greatly offending to millions of people around the world as you must already know. I suggest that you please follow your own rule that states 'You will not facilitate or encourage any violations of this Statement' and delete this group as well as other offending pages concerning any other relgion. As a result of the existance of these groups I have deleted my Facebook account and am prompting others to do the same until the situation is resolved.
Please contact me when direct action has been taken
Thank you.

Dear Sir, Madam,
I would like to remind you of your T's & C's of Facebook use: if you do not act against this group (which is promoting disrespect to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)then you will lose half of your Facebook users as they will not be happy to use this service where uncivil and disrespectful' attitude towards religions is being exposed via Facebook. if you violate yuor terms and conditions you can be taken to court for this.
Thankyou... I hope you take this into consideration and take some postive action asap!

The page/group/whatever was already deleted.
But yes, reminding them of their own terms and conditions is a good way of getting a point across.
On another note I hear 11,000 people have pledged to quit Facebook (for different reasons, mostly privacy) on 31 May 2010. 11,000 down, 400 million to go. wooo.

Lol that's why I deleted my Facebook account almost 5 months ago(although i fibbed ever so slightly in the e-mail to them) well that as well as that it wasted time.
There were privacy concerns on the news last week I think.

By deleting your facebook account what do you acheive?
NOTHING!
There are 1000's of pages/groups on Facebook that promote the deen and the Prophet (pbuh)- JUST BECAUSE THERE IS 1 THAT IS OFFENSIVE- DO WE ALL BOYCOTT THE SITE AND LEAVE IT TO THE ISLAMAPHOBES??? Do we not want to continue promoting teh deen on facebook because of 1 group?
When Islam is attacked do we run away?
Is it not better to continue opposing and lobbying facebook to increase pressure on them.
And my issue is- so what! so what there is a page that asks people to draw the picture of Prophet (saw)? has the status of the Prophet been reduced cos of one crappy group on facebook? are we gonna throw a hissy everytime someone tries to attack Islam- cos in that case you have to boycott the internet/tv/newspapers etc as they all have and will continue to attach Islam in one way or another.
Most people who leave facebook do not do so due to other peoples pages, but due to privacy concerns.
Saying that, protesting by refusing to allow fcebook to make monetary gains out of your personal data is entirely legitimate.

I think that leaving facebook DOES achieve something. They lose money, yes it may be a few pennies but at least it's something. Also we can't just sit back and take everything that is thrown at us - because it disrupts our 'life' on facebook. I personally, as mentioned, deleted it due to privacy concerns many many months ago but think it would have been a much more meaningful thing if i did it believing it defends our deen. Scratch that not just our deen, but everything - there are so many hate groups on there, it's unbelievable.

i never commented on this issue earlier coz frankly i thght it was a non issue. i thght common sense would prevail.
Yes our prophets status is not diminished in any way. But what does it say about the morals and ethics of muslims who continue to use facebook as if it is a lifeline. Would you continue to maintain bonds with a friend who insulted our prophet (saw), i'd like to think i would not, so why would you continue to use this website?
I recently heard about mufti taqi usmani delivering lecture in urdu, urging muslims to boycott facebook, as it will hurt them financially if muslims worldwide stopped using it completely. i happen to agree with him.
As for what the lecture covers in detail i don't have a clue as i don't really understand Urdu. I'm sure many of you here do so for what it's worth here's link, please tell me main points he makes, i'd be greatful:
