Quotes that make me smile
βIf God had created man to offer Him prayers there are many angels to do this. Man was created to become human.β
I like this quote, it makes me happy because it reminds me that we are all human after all and donβt need to be perfect. It reminds me that we can all make mistakes, and the reason is because we are human.
How would everyone else interpret this quote?
And what quotes make you happy? please explain them

In 96 hours, Jack Bauer has killed 93 people and saved the world 4 times. What have you done with your life?

If i keep trying... maybe things will work out.
If i bear my burdens and persevere maybe things will pan out.

That itself makes a nice quote.

Hmm.... You know Hume says that our imagination is limited...
(Boring reason and experience in philosophy) and when i first read that i thought ' what RUBBISH, we can do ANYTHING with our imagination- think ANYTHING' but he says that anything we can 'think up' is a combination of other things we've actuallly experienced...
and he challenges us to come up with something we've imagined where we didn't combine a bunch of things we'd sense experienced before and i couldn't tbh.
Like... 'purple troll made of jelly with fried eggs for eyes and feet made of milk cartons with coke inside them' << All things i've experience and crammed together to make one thing... it's not ACTUALLY 'original'
Tbh the idea that our imagination is 'really confined within very narrow limits' quite upset me.
Re: Quotes that make me smile
Why?
Is iterative thought not good enough?

Why does it upset you?
And what about inventors who have to come up with new inventions and stuff..they have quite an imagination don't they? But I suppose Hume's theory can also apply there.
Re: Quotes that make me smile
Most inventions are just the next logical step. However that does not mean that is easy or cannot produce wonders.
Look at evolution. Who would have thought that enough small changes to one celled organisms could produce such a large variety of life out there?
(some still don't)

Nice.
Re: Quotes that make me smile
The Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) said:
"Prophet David (p.b.u.h.) asked God; βOh God! All the emperors possess treasure then where is Your treasure?'
God-Almighty replied: βI possess a treasure which is greater than the sky; vaster than the heaven's firmaments; smells better than the perfumes of paradise, and is more beautiful than the celestial kingdom. Its earth is enlightenment; its sky is belief; its sun is enthusiasm; its moon is love; its stars are inspiration and attention towards Me; its clouds are reason; its rain is blessing; its fruits are obedience; and its yield is wisdom. My treasure has four doors, the first one is the door of knowledge, the second one is the door of reason, the third one is the door of patience, and the fourth one is the door of contentment. Know that My treasure is the heart of a believer.'"
Wow, Subhan'Allah!
Re: Quotes that make me smile
Our Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί also said that one of the best ways to prevent one's conscience from hardening and attain a good character is by frequently remembering death:
'Abudullah ibn Umar narrated, "Gods's Messenger ο·Ί said, 'These hearts become rusty just as iron does when water affects it.' On being asked what could clear them he replied, 'A great amount of remembrance of death and recitation of the Qu'ran.'"

Re: Quotes that make me smile
"Her love came into my heart before I had any idea of what love is,
And it found my heart vacant, thus it took hold of it."
[al-Jawaab al-Kaafi]
which is a poem that basically says that if your heart is empty of the love of Allah (swt) and his prophet (pbuh) then almost anything will take a hold of it.
Which is not good as this can lead to all sorts of other sins.
Re: Quotes that make me smile
Why are you reading poetry about love 0_o
Is there something you want to tell us?

Her love?
The poem is saying that this guy fell in love with a woman, who it suggests wasn't the right thing to do, because his heart wasn't full of love for God.
Re: Quotes that make me smile
Thing is... Do you not love god by loving His creation?
Re: Quotes that make me smile
Thing is... Do you not love god by loving His creation?
It's not saying all love for other people is bad. It's suggesting that the 'her' of the poem is either a bad person or a bad influence.
Her love?
Yes... her love. If you haven't noticed, alot of poetry is about love. Be it Gods love or unrequited.
Comeon Sid, you should know that.
Thing is... Do you not love god by loving His creation?
Nope. You've missed a step. Before you can love God through his creation you have to REALLY discover God. The poem is written from the point of view of a guy who hasnt discovered God or his love for God and is thus easily suseptible to be corrupted (for the lack of a better phrase).

Maulana Wahidun Khan
He comments that becoming an orphan very early in life taught him that, to succeed in life, you have to take such situations as challenges and not as problems. Being an advocate of result-oriented and positive action, he explains that treating such situations as problems can only be negative in result. All you can do in this state is either try to fight to remove them or lodge complaints or protests against them. On the other hand, if you take such situations as challenges, you can positively and constructively work to overcome them yourself, as and when suitable opportunities present themselves.

When I was VERY young, I use to think that when ever it rained, God was having a bath  (NOT that I meant that he smelt or anything, it's just soemthing I couldn't get my head around. Rain and sustainance) And I used to think that that bath water was blessed as it made things grow.
awwww
Re: Quotes that make me smile
I like how she emphasizes that she was VERY young when she thought that.
