“If God had created man to offer Him prayers there are many angels to do this. Man was created to become human.”
I like this quote, it makes me happy because it reminds me that we are all human after all and don’t need to be perfect. It reminds me that we can all make mistakes, and the reason is because we are human.
How would everyone else interpret this quote?
And what quotes make you happy? please explain them

Sounds about right.

Something from facebook:
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
That itself makes a nice quote.
Neocon!
Don't just do something! Stand there.

Hmm.... You know Hume says that our imagination is limited...
(Boring reason and experience in philosophy) and when i first read that i thought ' what RUBBISH, we can do ANYTHING with our imagination- think ANYTHING' but he says that anything we can 'think up' is a combination of other things we've actuallly experienced...
and he challenges us to come up with something we've imagined where we didn't combine a bunch of things we'd sense experienced before and i couldn't tbh.
Like... 'purple troll made of jelly with fried eggs for eyes and feet made of milk cartons with coke inside them' << All things i've experience and crammed together to make one thing... it's not ACTUALLY 'original'
Tbh the idea that our imagination is 'really confined within very narrow limits' quite upset me.
#Before you look at the thorns of the rose , look at it's beauty. Before you complain about the heat of the sun , enjoy it's light. Before you complain about the blackness of the night, think of it's peace and quiet... #
Why?
Is iterative thought not good enough?
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
Why does it upset you?
And what about inventors who have to come up with new inventions and stuff..they have quite an imagination don't they? But I suppose Hume's theory can also apply there.
Most inventions are just the next logical step. However that does not mean that is easy or cannot produce wonders.
Look at evolution. Who would have thought that enough small changes to one celled organisms could produce such a large variety of life out there?
(some still don't)

Nice.
Wow, Subhan'Allah!
"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi
Our Prophet Muhammad
also said that one of the best ways to prevent one's conscience from hardening and attain a good character is by frequently remembering death:
'Abudullah ibn Umar narrated, "Gods's Messenger
said, 'These hearts become rusty just as iron does when water affects it.' On being asked what could clear them he replied, 'A great amount of remembrance of death and recitation of the Qu'ran.'"
[Al-Tirmidhi, 673]
"Her love came into my heart before I had any idea of what love is,
And it found my heart vacant, thus it took hold of it."
[al-Jawaab al-Kaafi]
which is a poem that basically says that if your heart is empty of the love of Allah (swt) and his prophet (pbuh) then almost anything will take a hold of it.
Which is not good as this can lead to all sorts of other sins.

Why are you reading poetry about love
Is there something you want to tell us?
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

The poem is saying that this guy fell in love with a woman, who it suggests wasn't the right thing to do, because his heart wasn't full of love for God.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
Thing is... Do you not love god by loving His creation?
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
It's not saying all love for other people is bad. It's suggesting that the 'her' of the poem is either a bad person or a bad influence.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
DUH, why ask him, just read between the lines

[this is the 100th comment :)lol]
"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi
Yes... her love. If you haven't noticed, alot of poetry is about love. Be it Gods love or unrequited.
Comeon Sid, you should know that.
Nope. You've missed a step. Before you can love God through his creation you have to REALLY discover God. The poem is written from the point of view of a guy who hasnt discovered God or his love for God and is thus easily suseptible to be corrupted (for the lack of a better phrase).
quiet you! The power of silence commands you!!

Can you ever REALLY know God?

I like how she emphasizes that she was VERY young when she thought that.
