"Cessation of hostilities" reached in Syria

As I right this, the time has been reached for a "cessation of hostilities" in Syria.

This is not the same as a cease fire, because, well, they wont be ceasing fire.

Some groups such as ISIS and Al Nusra will still be targeted by Assad. Previously, Assad and Russia have in the name of bombing ISIS bombed anyone but ISIS, so it will be worth noting what happens this time.

Other smaller groups may join the cessation of hostilities, or they may not depending on many things including whether they themselves are bombed and targetted.

I don't think that anyone really expects much to be accomplished here, but even an unfair cessation of hostilities is better than nothing because atleast the people will have some peace - if it works out.

The Assad regime has killed many people, tortured many more and there will be many that will be seething with a result where they see that his regime has gotten away with their crimes.

Others will be frustrated that they were not able to remove a regime allied to Iran (and now more importantly, Russia).

Turkey will be worried about the YPG Militia which it claims has ties to the PKK in Turkey.

But sometimes the best result may be one where no one is happy.

Let the people live and justice will be served at a later date (and maybe not in this world).

Comments

Initial reports are that after 24 hours, the cessation is mosrly holding. Let's see if it stays that way.

As you say " But sometimes the best result may be one where no one is happy."

The only two continuing truths  are; 1] It is always the people at the bottom of the Pyramid that loses and 2] War/Conflicts are started by people at the top of the Pyramid [who always seem to come out on top whether they win or lose?]

Two things are happening now, but what the longterm out come will be i have no idea.

A] The Turks and Saudi's appear to want the restoration of the Ottoman Empire.

B] The Iranians may be looking back to Sasanian Empire, which was Persia before it fell to Islam.

    and

Russia is now on the ascendancy and some would say would like to form a new Russian Empire.

The US as taken over the reins from what was the British Empire and as found it expensive in both blood and treasure.

The European Union are split bettween restoring the Roman Empire, or at least Greater Germanica, Or just maybe want to consolidates its border and settle down, be left alone and grow old along with its ageing population.

China sits on the side lines and watchs, Then again China as a long history, appears to have endless patience and plays a long game.

We are living in interesting times, whilst we are [thankfully] not in harms way we should learn the history of the world [as a whole, not just a single country and empire]. The World and its people goes on, while Empires come and go.

Lies? Truth? Propaganda? or Disinformation?

I certainly don't know, but the more you read the muddier the water becomes. The only real truth remains. The ordinary person bears most of the pain and suffering,

Some links you might find interesting, plus if you follow some of the articles one finds history continues to repeat itself? Only the country and people changes, but it is still the same story.
