I am confused by the phrase: 'of whom He (swt) wills'
Does that assume that we do not have free will?
Does that assume that Allah (swt) picks and chooses? (Sorry that way of asking this question doesn't sound polite, but please see through that).
Help!

Im guessing ir referring to freewill vs predestination? And maybe along the lines of who gets "guided"
Its quite a complicated topic, illtry my best to explain, if u dmt get it let me knw and ill point you towards my source.
Free will vs predestination. We're in the middle, humans have free will but Allah knws what we're going to do. But that doesnt hinder our freewill in any way. A good example someone once gave is this. Imgine a baby crawling abt n theres smething hanging off a table. U knw the baby is going to go n touch that thing. Ur 100% sure because thats what babies do. But u knwing that does nt mean the baby is somehow going to be forced to go n touch that thing. He still got total freewill to touch it or not but he will touch it coz that what bbies do.
That example is an experienced human vs a bby (human). So can u imagine how 10000% sure Allah, our maker and creator, is going to be on what we're going to do? But that doesnt afect our free will.
Now, thr will (or wish) of Allah. There's two types of will. The creational will and the legal will. The creational will is like the laws of natures, things we cnt go against, li je egravity. Legal will is what Allah wants us to do (fot our own good at the end of the day) but we can go against it (at our own loss) thr legal will are things like submitting to Allah, worshipping Him alone, being muslim etc...
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
