by saying 'nothing to do with us', i was meaning more specifically 'me'!!

i actually try to recycle, save energy, i try to get locally-produced food, i dont have a nasty smelly car etc.

i especially dont run a disgusting factory so in that way, its not to do with me.
i AM concerned about global warming, but since it seems many people are not, i think it will inevitably happen.

if the climate DOES change, its all by the will of Allah (swt) so we shouldnt be upset,

I'm very concerned, the science is pretty undeniable that we are causing global warming, that it is a serious problem and that we had better do something about it soon.

Its a hoax made up my some bad scientists so that they continue to get millions of pounds of funding.

Apart from the thing that scientists are being told by non-scientists to cover global warming up.

It is happening. The question is why? is it man made or is it a natural cycle of earth?

The dramatic increase in weather intensity phenomenon is undeniable. It doesnt matter if you believe in Global Warming or not you only have to look at the increase in extreme weather events to see things aint right.

Like Admin said the question is whys it happening now?? Is it man's own doing or a part of the earth natural cycle? And what can we do to save ourselves.

The truth is that global warming is happening and that it is already too late to avoid some of the effects. Even under the most optimistic circumstances, atmospheric scientists expect global climate change to result in increased flooding and droughts, more severe storms, and a loss of plant and animal species. These events will occur, even if climate change is gradual.

ok im concerned but the latest proposals by government is really enraging. It has already been imposed by a few councils around the uk. Rubbish collections will be on a fortnightly basis, apparently in a bid to force ppl to recycle. Apparently weekly collections have not encouraged ppl to recycle, despite the new paper and garden bins.

But is this a sound way forward? How is it good to leave rubbish rotting on roadsides for 2 weeks? 1 week is bad enough. Can you imagine the smell after 2 weeks? The amount of vermin the bins will attract. I heard a spokewoman for this venture defend it saying as long as the bins are closed there's no problem with vermin. Well mayb she would like to come and disinfect my wheelie bin every fortnight, since my husband is paying taxes for a reason is he not?

I will gladly recycle i agree with it, but i don;t take kindly to the government misusing my money. I see rubbish lying around my street all the time, yet a few yards down the rd my mothers end is immaculate. Regular rd sweepers. Where are my rd sweepers? I studied in leicester like over five yrs ago they were into recycling way before the rest of the uk awoke from their big sleep. They even wash ur wheelie bins over there, least they did on the st i lived. It seems like i and most other brits aren;t getting what we're paying for. They won't clean our bins, they won't sweep our rds regularly, they've increased pay for refuse collectors and now they wana restrict disposable of rubbish to every two weeks.

My bin is usually full within a week all them nappies. Can you imagine 2 weeks worth of rubbish? I would have to send my hubby down to the rubbish depot to get rid of the waste it would stink i can't stand smelly bins.

Finally i think the gov need to impose restrictions on supermarket packaging. Most of the food we consume in my house is home cooked, not ready made. Yet despite this when we pack away shopping the bin is full within a few mins just from excessive packaging. Since most of it is plastic i can't put it in the garden bin nor the paper box so it ends up in the main rubbish bin. Either introduce plastic recycling or to heck with the recycling. Most of the bulky waste is plastic not paper.

why not ban plastic shopping bags. All this nonsense about point earned for every plastic shopper recycled! Make ppl use reusable hesian type bags!

You can always use reusable nappies, bins wont be full but you'll have alot of washing to do

Don't they recycle plastic, because they do recycle plastic bottles.

Maybe all supermarkets should follow Lidl and should charge customers to buy plastic carrier bags, this way people people will be forced to re-use their bags. Go Lidl!

re usable nappies are you kidding me i thght about it, then thght no, and i'm glad. Coz i'm way too busy i barely get time for myself. Today after all my chores i thght i;ll sit just ten mins before son wakes up soon as i sit down he starts crying. So much for sitting? So no i've not got time to wash loads of dirty nappies, unless i'm willing to do them after midnight.

Anyways i looked into the costs and it's ridiculous. I think the re emergence of reusable nappies are just a rich person's accessory. i mean most wealthy folks altho not all, won't even have to worry about washing them, the housemaid or nanny will do it for them. You have to invest in not just the nappy but the liner, and extra liners and then add up how many ur gona need for the first few months. Then you need these waterproof pants in case of leaks.kushies are the most popular brand and they don;t come cheap do a search if u like ull see what im on about. The headache doesn't seem worth it. You may save a few quid over disposables if ur lucky, but u may lose ur sanity in the grand scheme of things so i'll pass.

Well muslimbro they don't give us a plastic recycle bin why not if a vast majority of waste is plastic it makes sense? Instead in my area we get a measly little paper box. It's the size of boxes you get deliveries in for retail outlets not very big at all...misers it seems like they recycled their brains before using them.

He said that the latest figures from the Met Office came as no real surprise, and were consistent with climate models that projected a rise in temperatures.

"Certainly, this year is going to see a very early spring; there is no doubt about that. We have seen lots of things leafing or flowering a lot earlier that we would expect to see them appear.

"This spring has demonstrated that different species change at different rates to temperature," he added.

"The most obvious sign of this at the moment is that oak trees have come out into leaf very well, but many ash trees are still quite bare.

This could present problems for local food chains, he observed.

"You may have a situation where an insect relies on a particular plant, and birds or other animals rely on that insect further up the food chain.

"If there is a breakdown in the synchrony between them then it could be disastrous," Dr Sparks warned. "We may have a butterfly species, for example, whose caterpillars feed on only a very narrow range of plants.

"They must maintain synchrony with those plants; if they don't then that species will suffer badly."

We live in a house and have our own wheelie bin for normal rubbish and another smaller wheelie bin for the things we want to recycle.

Thank god the councils in London are against the plan to have collection once a fortnight. It was on the news yesterday that the councils in London are not part of the organisation that says that councils should have collection once every two weeks so our councils don't need to listen to them.

A posh part of west London called Knightsbridge has collection TWICE a week... yes you heard me right.

We have a black bin for stuff that can't be recycled, blue for plastic, aluminium and glass, brown for cardboard and food and garden waste, pink bag for fabric and blue bag for paper. One week half are collected, the next week the other half, and that's enough for our family. The only thing is waste in the brown and black bin does remain for two weeks, but we hose it down after collection, so it's not too bad.

In our old area, when we had just the one black bin, we had the opportunity to pay a pound and have the bin washed after collection, but where we live now we never had that option, I think it's coz it's a slightly better area, so the council assume people will do it anyway.

I actually think what we have is a really good system and don't think it needs changing. Each bin is checked before being emptied, so lot's of people's rubbish is left behind coz their rubbish isn't in the correct bins...and it serves them right. The other day on my way to work I noticed a role of carpet sticking out of somebody's brown bin. It made me want to laugh and scream at the same time. Some people are just so lazy.
