Germany to ban paintball in wake of high school shooting

The German government is to ban paintball in response to the school shooting in which 16 people were killed in March.

Experts from Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives and her Social Democrat (SPD) coalition partners have agreed to outlaw all games in which players shoot at each other with pellets.

The governing parties say paintball trivialises violence and risks lowering the threshold for committing violent acts.

Infringements to the new rules, which the cabinet hopes to pass before a general election in September, could incur fines of up to 5,000 euros (£4,400).

If it is suicide, how bad must things have been for a ten year old to consider it?

Shocking.

Nearly 3 million children in poverty in Britain

Nearly a million children would like to invite a friend around for tea or a snack once in a while – but their family is unable to afford this. More than half a million children do not celebrate their birthday or special occasion because of lack of money.

Colette Marshall, director at the charity Save the Children, said: "It is outrageous that so many children continue to miss out on the basic necessities most children take for granted.

"In 2001 Gordon Brown referred to child poverty as a 'scar on Britain's soul'. This scar is taking a very long time to heal."

Update on SRE

Assalamualaikum,

Last week the report of Sir Alasdair Macdonald recommended that SRE should be made compulsory, he also recommended that the right of parental opt-out from SRE classes should be maintained and school governing bodies should retain the right to decide how SRE is taught in schools.

Top 5 Reasons Why You're an Idiot.....

Something I came across that I think is worth sharing... Fool

Dear all,

The European Parliamentary election is just few weeks away. Make sure you are registered to vote. Last day for registration is 19th May. Use your vote to make a difference, the power is in your hand! Keep an eye on our website for information on the election.

Our top election article is “Top 5 Reasons Why You're an Idiot (...if you don't vote on 4th June)”, looks at why Europe is important to Muslims.

Another article, “Muslims helping the BNP” looks at how the BNP may get in through the back door if Muslims don't vote. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing", the wise words of political philosopher Edmund Burke.

Hustle, Loyalty and Respect.

European Muslims have much more loyalty to the countries they live in than is generally believed, a survey says.

The report by Gallup and the Coexist Foundation says 77% of British Muslims identified with the UK, compared with 50% of the general public.

There was a similar finding in Germany, the survey says.

The authors say their report counters a commonly-held view that measures to combat Islamic militancy may have alienated many European Muslims.

"This research shows that many of the assumptions about Muslims and integration are wide of the mark," said Dalia Mogahed of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies and co-author of the report.

Gay and Lazbian Vs Muslim Children

Education, education, education. How's that going? Let's take a snapshot of the state of our schools. For instance, here's three stories from the past few days. Official figures revealed that nearly half of all children from low-income families fail to achieve a single pass at GCSE.
More than 42 per cent of the 75,000 pupils entitled to free lunches last year could not manage a single 'C' grade in any subject, which is the minimum level recognised by potential employers. As many as 7,500 of them are classified as 'persistent truants'. They left school virtually unemployable, fit only for a life on benefits or a career in crime. These were the very children Labour came to office promising a better future, pledging to raise them out of a cycle of permanent low achievement.
