Duration: Part 1 - 48min, Part 2 - 2hr 10min

MuslimBro — Mon, 30 Aug 2010 - 14:41

That was wrong.

The husband should have known that she was infertile before marrying her. Some men don't actually wanna have children so she could have suited them.

Her mother is playing with peoples lives.

TPOS — Tue, 31 Aug 2010 - 21:56

On telly they were talking about honeymoons and how they're unislamic. Then someone asked what about if 2 families who have their son and daughter engaged go to a holiday together, is that wrong too? Which made me and my family discuss whether its allowed for a woman to get to know the guy by talking to him WHILST her mahram is with her. Mum said no.

You — Tue, 31 Aug 2010 - 22:53

The guys who said honeymoon is unislamic - shoot them.

A married couple ARE allowed to travel together.

If any "scholar" pretends otherwise, he is not following Islam but his culture. Either that or he is ignorant - in which case he should hold his silence.

LookingToSee — Wed, 1 Sep 2010 - 14:19

how come i cant quote??

whether its allowed for a woman to get to know the guy by talking to him WHILST her mahram is with her.

(copy pasted)

well..the whole talking to each other and asking questions and stuff (with the mahraam here), that could be considered "getting to know". But im not sure what you mean?

TPOS — Wed, 1 Sep 2010 - 17:08

If there is a mahram present, there are no problems with it.

(what happened to the quote button?)

yeah exactly, that's what we were saying!

and stop shooting people lol. i think he meant its not an Islamic tradition, rather than it not being allowed in Islam

You — Wed, 1 Sep 2010 - 18:18

I doubt that is what he meant. He meant exactly what he said. I have read such opinions online before, so I know they exist.

(the quote button currently only appears in the forums.)

LookingToSee — Wed, 1 Sep 2010 - 22:02

and stop shooting people lol. i think he meant its not an Islamic tradition, rather than it not being allowed in Islam

you should have been here when i inadvertently said something along the same line...

NOOR TO MY RIGHT
YOU TO MY LEFT
SUHAIL (i think) IN FRONT OF ME
I backed towards the wall... I WAS SURROUNDED!

(will have to use blockquote, will it be back soon?)

[Let's Talk Show] An Idiot's Guide To The Qur'an

Sajid Iqbal

A discussion all about the qur'an with Imam Zahoor chishti

Actual discussion on the qur'an starts 15 minutes in (before then the focus on is on the Pakistan flood and how you can help).

Broadcast Date: 25 August 2010
Duration: 2hr 0min

You — Thu, 26 Aug 2010 - 13:34

Where is stoning mentioned in the qur'an?

I think this is the relevant verses dealing with fornication/adultery are at the start of surah Noor.

Note [qs:24:3] - dead people cannot marry so surely that is saying otherwise? is there another verse that says otherwise.

(there are ahadith that mention it, but even there from the three mentioned on wikipedia, two are involving Jews, and the Jews were not dealt with with islamic law at time of the prophet (saw), but by Judaic law.)

Masha'Allah a very good show. Definitely should be another show exclusively for Palestine only, informing listeners of the predicament. I also suggest that you have another person reading out the text as Zahid did not read my text out even though i text'd in 3 times. Although I will not hold this aginst him lol

You — Fri, 20 Aug 2010 - 14:44

I am still listening to this, but I have a few comments so far:

1. Palestine is not the whole world (also aimed at comment above mine).

I have not seen Somalia, Sudan, Nigeria, Sierra Leone mentioned at all so far.

As for Kashmir, it has been quieter because til recently there was a relatively peaceful half decade or more there. No one would be ramming the point home about Kashmir when it has been relatively peaceful. (however this year I think so far something like 50 demonstrators have been shot dead and major towns are under virtual lockdown through curfew.)

2. The show seems to be slightly frustrating... they were about to go into the history and decided to answer some texts and then forgot about it...

It seems to so far lack any depth and gravitas.

The phones should have been switched off and Doctor Jhangir should have been allowed to speak more - even without the interruptions of the presenters.

You — Fri, 20 Aug 2010 - 15:00

I would like to take issue with the words of Dr Jhangir where he talks about "Muslim land" and how Islamically it cannot be given away - it would not be about giving it away since Muslims are not in control of the land already.

It is not "giving it away", but accepting that it has already been lost.

1R4M — Wed, 25 Aug 2010 - 13:11

I think
to avoid that

what they could do is not read ALL the texts
so
if theyre jsut general "hi guys ur doin a great job good show" dont rad it out
just say we hav texts, many ppl saying theyre enjoying bla bla
BUT
instead
read the ones that hav a point to make
like someone's said something that could add to the debate

did that make sense

[Let's Talk Show] Alcohol use in the Muslim Community

Sajid Iqbal

A discussion on alcohol and its preence and impact on the Muslim community.

Presenters: Zahid Maqbool and Sajid Iqbal

Guests: Waleed Khan, Nafees Habib

Broadcast Date: 18 August 2010
Duration: 1hr 45min

You — Thu, 19 Aug 2010 - 19:34

I don't think 'Ed understood how big the issue of alcohol is.

On the issue of disassosiation, I dont see why that is so wrong - you do not need to hang around with people when they drink and peer pressure is a real issue. You must be certain that they will not influence you before you can influence them etc.

You — Thu, 19 Aug 2010 - 19:49

On the issue of Imam's as the second half of the show goes into... they are not superhuman.

You can have jacks of all trades or you can have specialists in one/few. But you will rarely get both.

Also, someone asked a question of drinking alcohol and praying... while you must still pray if you drink... you cannot pray while innebriated. You must wait til the effects have worn off; there is a verse in the qur'an that goes something like "and do not approach prayer while you are drunk".

You — Thu, 19 Aug 2010 - 21:56

anda third post.. about the answer that some people use - "stress etc turns me to drink" - its kind of a BS answer IMO.

For that to be the case they have to have drunk it before they came to that realisation. and it may be a reason in causing teh stress etc in the first place.

[Let's Talk Show] Converts

Sajid Iqbal

A discussion about Islam from the point of new Muslims being discussed with Brother Musab, who is a convert to Islam.

Broadcast Date: 14 August 2010
Duration: 1hr 33min

Presenters: Zahid Maqbool, Sajid Iqbal

Guests: Brother Musab, Brother Imran

You — Sun, 15 Aug 2010 - 02:24

Before this episode, I was thinking "three nights down, and two are a waste of space. Is this actually helping people or wasting their time?"

I must say though that this night was pretty good - insightful and uplifting. The convert brother stole the show - you should have him on more often.

You — Tue, 17 Aug 2010 - 23:57

Just to add, but I found the guest on this show refreshing.

As he pointed out, before finding Islam, he had not really been looking for anything, was not from a dysfunctional background etc and was pretty much at peace with himself, but he still found Islam.

That is different from some other stories you hear either about people from disfunctional backgrounds or having a yearning inside themselves, looking for something etc.

LookingToSee — Sun, 29 Aug 2010 - 23:37

- the good character of other Muslims.

lucky him. I wish one day i could witness the "good character of other Muslims". but i think its something rare, like..euh...guetting to see the northern lights

😛

All you guys here are example of Muslim with good character (but maybe cyberness doesnt count?)

TPOS — Fri, 22 Oct 2010 - 23:30

LOL aww the presenter likes to talk don't he 😛 🙂

{carries on listening}

EDIT: That was a well spent hour and a half! 🙂

and I thought i heard the name Musad not Musab? :/ :S
