Just reading a post from Islam in Europe that showed up on The Revival's Aggregator about Christmas becoming multicultural. Quoted from there:
In the Netherlands, the Christian Democratic party (CDA) is upset that municipalities are removing the Christian cross from Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas), in order to make him 'multi-ethnic' and a 'universal figure'.
Here's the thing - I doubt whether many muslims - or people of other faiths - care that christmas has links to christians/christianity.
I doubt any people of other faiths* will be offended if it remains linked christians.
* Asterisk as it is possible that some of those who have left their Christian heritage/religion in general behind will try to make excuses and make it more generic so that they feel included.

Reminds me of when the local council decided to re-name the Christmas lights switch on and the whole xmas theme of putting up lights in cities to "Winterville" so as not to offend the Muslims esp but other people of other faiths and when the "others" were asked by the local news and papers;
1) It was the 1st they'd heard of this "initiative"
2) They didn't care
3) What a stupid idea they said! No one asked us if wed be offended, we still call them xmas lights
Another council tax payment wasted huh.....
Yeah, i remember the (understandable) fuss that lots of people made about political correctness being taken overboard and shizz.
Tbh i think the government or the higherups or whatever should stop talking for Muslims...
I've never heard any Muslim actually say that they believed it should be ILLEGAL to say certain things to them or that it shouldn't be called christmas because that makes them feel like they can't participate.
