There are many off licences owned by muslims who sell alcohol and
cigarettes. Can the money made by the selling these be used for zakat. If
yes how can it be because alcohol is forbidden in islam. What about drugs
money and money given by non muslims, can it be used for zakat.
According to some muslims zakat can only be paid is gold dinars and silver dirhams.
no you cant pay with haraam money
the best thing to do with that money is keep it to yourself!!
its not permissable to give money obtanied through Haraam means to charity, Zakat, Sadqah or the Mosque funds
its not even permissable to make haraam money

The sale of cigarettes & alcohol is not permissible. The income will be makrooh, so there for you cannot use it to pay of zakat.
And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best
dunno bout sale of cigarettes
but Alcohol defo a no-no

Haraam money is haraam.
Zakaah is to purify you money. You annot purify Haraam.
If your earning are mixed, any donations ec you do will be taken from the halaal earnings, not the haraam.

How can one differentitate between that, and is it possible? cuz if sum1 just has a local shop wich sells alcohol, ALL money would be haram cuz you cant really do that? How can u say, ok this is the alcohol money i'll use this haram money on me, and this money was from the sweeties and crisps i'll give that for zakat!? Haram is haram, alcohol shudnt be sold fullstop....
If i misunderstood, forgive me
ur ryt
simple - dont sell bloody alcohol!
its only doin the community harm
and in Islam you have to do your part for the community - not kill it

Don't sell alcohol.
However if you do have a mixed revenue, the bit you give away is assumed to be the halaal earnings, the bit you keep the haraam earnings, so you will be eating haraam.
However I may be wrong...

The way I mentioned I heard from our local curry, and he has been known to make fatawa, so I may be wrong...

People who donate haram money contaminate all the the halal money
Say hypothetically you worked in a supermarket, say asda. You work as a cashier and your job is to scan through the cusomers food and drink. In thier shopping they have haram meat and alcohol which you scan through. They pay and you accept. At the end of the month you get your wage. Can that wage be used for zakat or is it considered haraam. You don't own asda you just work there and its part of your job to serve, therefore is your wage harram income.
Dont know who the molvi was, cant remeber but it was a programme on ARY digital.

ive heard people say you cant work for sainsbury's, asda, tesco etc.....but i think thats a lil strict that....
as long as you dont work in the off licence sections or the meat sections then its ok, scanning thru is ok i would think
otherwise, if u think about it like that - a lot of people workin for all kidnza companies cant pay zakaat with thier wages
Allah SWT knows best a persons intentions

So where is one suppose to work?
No not the gum drop buttons! – Gingy
