Miss Universe's fun day out - at Guantánamo Bay

Talk about being ditzy!

The 240 people who live in very basic lodgings on the southern tip of a sunny Caribbean island may wish to reconsider the less-than-rosy opinion they have of their surroundings.

No less an authority than Miss Universe has visited Guantánamo Bay and pronounced the infamous US detention centre a "relaxing, calm, beautiful place".

...

"We visited the detainees' camps and we saw the jails, where they shower, how the[y] recreate themselves with movies, classes of art, books. It was very interesting," wrote Mendoza. "I didn't want to leave, it was such a relaxing place, so calm and beautiful."

Her experiences are a far cry from those of former detainees, who have alleged that torture, including "waterboarding", was practised at Guantánamo Bay.

...

Barack Obama has set a one-year deadline for shutting the prison.

Doesn’t this sound like an April fools? Miss Universe goes to Guantanamo Bay and comments:

"It was a loooot of fun!"

"We also met the military dogs, and they did a very nice demonstration of their skills. All the guys from the army were amazing with us."

"I didn't want to leave, it was such a relaxing place, so calm and beautiful."

It does, but its actually not. This is real.

It's also listed in the BBC News article 10 stories that could be April Fools... but aren't.

Interestingly, the BBC News article seems to share quite a bit of content with the Guardian one, so its probably from the same news agency.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

"how the[y] recreate themselves with movies, classes of art, books. It was very interesting,"

Its a shame she hasn't 'recreated' herself with movies, books and NEWS! What a nutter, it angers me that people like this exist! The world is a big dreamy bubble where everything is JUST PERFECT!!

I don;t think the inmates will agree with her.

“Before death takes away what you are given, give away whatever there is to give.”

Mawlana Jalal ud Din Rumi

Inmates would probably want to mate with her.

I actually think it is an admirable quality to see the bright side of everything.
