Salaams,
They are holding a draw at my local bureau where I work. The winner gets a Whitakers Almanack book. I must admit initially I did not know what kind of book it was  until my manager explained its contents. I decided to further research it on the net and came across this website (I was taken back by the Earth clock. Look at the Earth clock, aint it cool) Whitakers Almanac
The draw in itself is free, no money required, just stick your name and they pick one from a hat. The name they pick out will get the book. I really want to stand a chance of winning the book (I dont want to pay £45) but before I enter I need to know would this be a form of gambling?
I thinking no but I want to be sure before I stick my name down for it.
W/salaam
If it costs nothing to enter then its 100% halal!
If you had to buy a ticket, then there could be an issue.
Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.
Through cheating, stealing, and lying, one may get required results but finally one becomes
No risk of loss, no gambling.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
Yeah there is! A loss of spirit!
Just kidding, go ahead and draw. But you have to give me the book.
