What does 'Alhamdolilah' mean?

Hi everyone

I'm struggling with the above word and would appreciate any help you can give. I'm conducting some research and I'm having some trouble getting to grips with what the above word means and what is the correct context(s) in which it would be used/applied.

Hi Dear Sam,
Take it as very simple when you say Al Hamdo Lilah that's mean you are tanking god for what you have got, what you wer given,for good and bad
