Planning to make the Hajj?
Birmingham Muslims planning to make the Hajj - the annual pilgrimage to Mecca - are being advised by Trading Standards to be on their guard for unscrupulous tour operators. Travellers undertaking the Hajj may find that they are being asked to pay for visas which should be free of charge.
Trading Standards in Birmingham are working with the Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH) to raise awareness of tour companies that operate unfair or illegal practices. Anyone considering making the Hajj should make sure that their travel agent is a member of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) as it has agreed procedures and a redress scheme if things go wrong.
