Here is another crime that deserved a harsher punishment.

Bosnian Serb jailed for 15 years

A Bosnian Serb former policeman has been sentenced to 15 years in jail by the UN war crimes tribunal for the rape and torture of Bosnian Muslim women.

Dragan Zelenovic, 46, pleaded guilty to the crimes, which took place during the 1992-1995 war in the former Yugoslavia.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors at The Hague war crimes tribunal agreed to drop another seven charges.

Zelenovic showed no emotion, sitting with his head bowed and eyes closed as the presiding judge read out a summary of his crimes before passing sentence.

One of the women was just 15 when she was illegally imprisoned and gang-raped. Another had a gun held to her head while she was raped, the court heard.

Guy like that should have his a$$ removed.

15 is a child, not a woman. There are certain times where I read articles like this, or Jessica Lundsford or about that girl in Iraq where I - seriously - contemplate the logistics of taking a week or two off and getting to these people.

It's going to happen some day - I'll just crack, and I'll get away with it too. I'll find out a sex offender is living in my neighborhood or something that really hits home and is too close to ignore.

I don't really care what society thinks, some people do not deserve second chances.

Nope... what is that?

Hey is there any way of changing my email address for the forum? My old one is dead - officially - Spam won and I lost. Effectively I'm a spam refugee

(TV_series)

You will need to put the full thing into your browser (clicking on it does not seem to work).

It is about a vigilante serial killer who works in a forensics department for the police. Wonderfully creepy.

You should be able to change your email address in your profile. If you can't PM it to me and I will change it.

Iranians release British sailors

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says 15 British naval personnel captured in the Gulf are free to leave.
He repeated Iran's view that the British sailors and marines "invaded" Iranian waters, but said they were being released as a "gift" to Britain.

They are expected to fly home to the UK on Thursday.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the news came as a "relief". Iranian media said the British crew members "shouted for joy" on hearing the news.

He said they were being pardoned to mark both the Prophet Muhammad's birthday on 30 March, and the upcoming Easter holiday.

alhumdulillah, glad no-one got hurt. Smile

why are all the guys dressed up in suits and the girl is in some frumpy clothes? Wink

CHRISTIAN VALUES ON DISPLAY

BBC - Guantanamo force-feeds detainees

Thirteen detainees on hunger strike at the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay are being force-fed through tubes in their noses, the US Navy has said.

How is that Christian values?

Would you rather people starve? (which is an option)

I've been reading a book about the methods of torture used by Catholics on fellow Christians during the French and Spanish Inquisitions (which was an official Crusade sanctioned by the Pope), solely because they had different religious understandings. It is absolutely terrifying:

[if you a squeamish I suggest skipping this...]

Quote:
One method was to force a prisoner to swallow a quantity of water either by means of a funnel (sounds rather familiar...?) or by soaking a piece of cloth and jamming into the throat, which would result in the blood vessels bursting.

Another one was to place the prisoner before a hot fire with fat or grease applied to his feet so that they were literally fried.

When the 'crusaders' captured the a Castle in Southern France called Bram, they selected a hundred of the defenders at random, gouged out their eyes and sliced off their lips ears and noses. One prisoner, who was only blinded in one eye, was ordered to lead his maimed companions the the Castle of Cabaret as a warning to the garrison there of the fate that awaited those who opposed the crusading army.

So i think guantanemo and abu ghraib have rather a long way to go...

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Who can deny that Christian soldiers tortured Muslims prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

The photographes of these tortured detainees were also leaked to world media by some good Christian soldiers. They were honest men who condemned this evil practice. Allah help them.
So far no important Christian preacher has spoken out against this evil deeds by US soldiers.

America now has no right to talk about human rights. It abuses human rights.
World has now seen what US really stands for in practice.
Guantanamo Bay has puts American values on trial alongside the terrorists.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

I can. I have not come across any reports mentioning the faith of the soldiers.

Once again we do not know their faith.

This is just like saying "the civilised world is with us". In both places, the emphasis is on the definition of "important" and "civilised".

Can't reall argue against that. However, it still does have a "reasonable" record when compared with others.

(You want to to us about reason? Do we look reasonable to you?)

What the world cans ee is that fear is a good motivator. It can make people forget about their principles.

Yahoo! News"]GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brown County Sheriff Dennis Kocken didn't have to write himself a ticket. But he says it was the right thing to do.

"As sheriff, I'm held to the highest standard in law enforcement. How can I hold officers accountable if I don't hold myself accountable?" he said. "I'm satisfied I'm doing the right thing."

Kocken issued himself a ticket March 27 for an unsafe lane change, three weeks after he had rear-ended a suspected speeder after that driver slowed to turn. Neither the deputy who completed the accident report nor the Brown County district attorney's office felt that Kocken deserved a citation.

"But it kept bothering me," said Kocken. "Finally I decided to write myself a ticket. I felt it was the right thing to do."

The ticket carries a $160.80 fine that Kocken said he fully intends to pay.

The guy should appeal.

Judaie Ibn Salem had thought his threat would help resolve an argument over dividing up his house.

"I swore that I would do it because ... they were impolite and that's when I came under an even bigger attack," Ibn Salem told Shams newspaper after having seven stitches inserted.

"I never realized they would get so worked up. But the only way to restore my dignity is really to take a third wife.

Isn't it about time we start correcting maliks behavior or failing that, his membership status?

For the record, his comments promote horrible prejudices and seem to pit his vision of Islam against pretty much every aspect of the west. He has it in for Jews and Christians and apparently backs the Iranian regime to the hilt, going so far as to invite confrontation with the US and UK. However, I don't know if any of this can be corrected, and I tend to ignore him. I respect Dave for trying.

it out to me.
Why do you try to gag a person?

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

It's just that you make massive generalisations and massive assumptions.

Mr Honey tried to accuse me of trying to provoke war between US and Iran.

As if I can do that!

What about the US.
When Bush the Satan sends two massive aircraft carriers and battle ships towards Iran, is that not the real provocation to war in the middle east? People so easily forget who the real warmongers are.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

The word I used was "invite", not "provoke".

When there is war, it is without doubt that Iran will come out victorious.
Allah has promised believers that He would not let them be defeated. This means Amercia is going to lose the war against Iran. Allah's words cannot be false. Allah does what He says.

If America's destiny is a humiliating defeat, then it will start a fight with Iran.

And no doubt you misspelt my nic by total accident, and you weren't being low and disgusting.

Stop ranting against Americans, Jews and Christians, leave out the fowl language and stop bringing up inappropriate subject material. That's why we are asking you to modify your behavior.

Is ranting against illegal American policy, bad Christian attitudes towards Muslims, and hidden Jewish conspiracies against west, is all that something that is unlawful in United Satans of America?

I thought that everyone has the right to believe and freely talk about whatever they like. Are yo usyong Muslims don't have that right and it only belongs to Americans?

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

just that ranting does not look good.

It is annoying.

it does not solve anything apart from try top blame others for everything.

oh, and twisting names got uncool when I was just a likkle kid.

United Satans of America.

That is not called for and is childish.

If you do not want to be attacked by their propaganda, best to practice what we preach and cut such behaviour out of ourselves.

I myself have not always been kind in my behaviour to others, but I believe I have learnt to be more tolerant.
TEHRAN, April 18 — The Iranian Supreme Court has overturned the murder convictions of six members of a prestigious state militia who killed five people they considered “morally corrupt.”

The reversal, in an infamous five-year-old case from Kerman, in central Iran, has produced anger and controversy, with lawyers calling it corrupt and newspapers giving it prominence.

...

According to the Supreme Court’s earlier decision, the killers, who are members of the Basiji Force, volunteer vigilantes favored by the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, considered their victims morally corrupt and, according to Islamic teachings and Iran’s Islamic penal code, their blood could therefore be shed.

The last victims, for example, were a young couple engaged to be married who the killers claimed were walking together in public.

Members of the Basiji Force are known for attacking reformist politicians and pro-democracy meetings. President Ahmadinejad was a member of the force, but the Supreme Court judges who issued the ruling are not considered to be specifically affiliated with it.

Iran’s Islamic penal code, which is a parallel system to its civic code, says murder charges can be dropped if the accused can prove the killing was carried out because the victim was morally corrupt.

This is true even if the killer identified the victim mistakenly as corrupt. In that case, the law requires “blood money” to be paid to the family. Every year in Iran, a senior cleric determines the amount of blood money required in such cases. This year it is $40,000 if the victim is a Muslim man, and half that for a Muslim woman or a non-Muslim.[/list:u]
