GIVE AN INCH, TAKE A MILE

this thread is basically about people who take the piss

u do one thing for them and they take advantage of ur goodness and ask for more and more

examples

-people whom u help with assigments, spend money on and give lifts to all year and they cant even be bothered to give u a birthday card at the end of the year

-u pick up a neighbours kid from school once and they expect u to do it everyday

-people who want YOU to do all their work for them and expect u to write their name on it

-people who expect u to ruin ur own life just so someone elses life will be set

-people whom u lend a bit of money to once and they expect u to give em more and more

poeple who approach you in the mosque and say:

Quote:
'assalamualimukya'anibarakalafeekakhijazakallahu
kharunmasha'AllahuRabbilalameenIneedsomemoneyforIslamicbooks
urgentlyhowmuchyougotinyourwalletakhimarsha'
AllahalhamdulillahI'lltakealltwentypoundsfromyoubarakalafeekw
aalaikumsalam'.

i've never heard 'asalamualaikum' said with such little love and affection, and then their eyes light up at the sight of money, and they almost snatch it from your hand and scuttle away in delight.

however, if they are Muslim and they ask then its our obligation to trust them and give it to them. we are not doing it for them, but for Allah (swt) who can provide much more for us if He wills.

It does get on my nerves tho

Don't just do something! Stand there.

What really annoys me, are people who travel ALLLLL the way over to my home town to ask for money for a mosque in Bradford or someother part of the country. What the people in that city are all poor? What a load of BS.

As much money as i give to the poor and towards various mosque both here and my home village im not made of money. My response to such people is simple "No, thanx" and then close the door.

And the Great Satan.

US is the most hated country in the world according to polls, which say that now even Europeans hate America.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

You know, Malik, not everything in the world revolves around the US.

You can live your life without letting it burden you.

I am not burdened by anyone.
Satan cannot bother believers, didn't you know?

I just curse the Devil because Allah curses him too.

this is not a general 'who i hate thread'

its called 'give an inch, take a mile'

when specifically have you given america a small gift, only for them to take more than you offered?

-I lent my friend my assignment, cos she was struggling with her one.

She ended up copying most of it and I was charged with collusion.

In the tribunal my name was cleared and she was made to do another assignment with a word count that was twice as long as the last one.

She asked ME to help her do it (????)

-I give another friend of mine a lift to uni occasionally (usually when the weather is bad) and now she expects me to give her a lift to a place 200miles away.

-I've helped out people with college work at times, and from time to time I'm asked to 'sort them out with a job as a teacher' in a school where I'm merely doing a placement in - and they only have A levels to their name.

I think that is the "Pakistan mentality".

To get and keep a job it matters more who you know than what you know.

People do not realise it does not work to the same degree here. (It still applies here, but the person does need to know their stuff and be suitably qualified.)

I agree with you.

Most of the 'give an inch and take a mile' thing is applicable to Pakistani's.

I dont even understand how so many have the audacity to ask for such huge favours.

a lesson to be learnt from this dont make friends of the pakistani origin lol

I say expect nothing from nobody... that way everything you get is an added bonus...

Also having limits on what you do for people... if your like me and have a big heart its hard to say no when someone asks you a favour ... but just keep it within reason and put yourself first...

eg.. if i was going that way id give you a lift... etc...

If people get offended by that then your better off travelling alone cos id say they need professional help... lol..

no, it means either you expect something from noone, nothing from someone or something from someone.

I, on the other hand, expect double negatives from anyone.

:? huh?
