Egypt launches first full Islamic veil TV Channel.

Yes, you read that right! Egypt has launched their first Islamic veil TV Channel. All staff must wear a Niqaab, both infront and behind the camera, and if your not wearing a Niqaab, then you can't appear on the screen. Some say that it gives a chance for those wearing a veil to attain a job in media and journalism whilst others argue that there are communication barriers. I'd like to know what you think of this new idea.

Shows that the veil is a choice rather than something which is forced upon muslim women. mashAllah its a good statement, hope the channel stays up and running inshAllah.

"communication barriers" as in you cantseethe facial expressions on the news reader?
Have the people raising these concerns never listened to a radio show?
The simple thing is - if you don't like it, don't watch it...

I think with radio shows, you don't 'expect' to see a persons face anyway, whereas in the minds of the audience watching the TV channel, they 'do' expect to see faces, facial expressions and hand movements.

When they don't have any of that they bring up concerns like 'communication barriers' which i don't agree with at all. If you can hear the speakers voice and it is loud enough, whats the issue? You 'can' still show your emotions and feelings through what you say and the tone in your voice!

In such a country like Egypt, I'm surprised that it is actually a concern coming from other women who don't wear the Niqaab. If it was a male with the concern, thats a bit different, but c'mon, a woman who lives in the same country? I thought that it would've been a part of their every day life and they would be used to it.

But why is it a MUST? That completely takes the Islam out of it by forcing everyone to wear Niqab. SoI'm going to have to dislike.

Its made specifically for those who were the Niqab. They're not really forcing anyone. If you don't want to wear one, then according to them, you don't need to be on their channel- There's probably so many other Egyptian channels that they could join and work for, rather than this one.

That's not really a choice is it? You can have a car in any colour, so long as it's black!

Surely guests should not be made to wear niqab?

Plus what if you need a job and that station is the most convenient? Not everything can be simplified like a contract: "you let us dictate to you what you wear/don't wear even if it's unreasonable to force you, or you find another job."

It would be unacceptable for a company to discriminate and say that to a Muslim, so that idea shouldn't be acceptable.
