of Black History Month presents:
BLACK PEOPLES' CONTRIBUTION TO ISLAMIC CIVILISATION
Date: Saturday 15th October 2005
Time: 4pm - 7pm
Venue: St Vincent Community Centre, Talma Road,
Brixton, London, SW2 1AS
There will be short talks on the legacy of Black
Muslims at different eras of Islamic history.
Nasheeds, raps and hip-hop in Yoruba, Patois and
Swahili. Plus a special Afro-Caribbean iftar and
dinner with dishes from the African continent and
the Caribbean islands. Iftar will be at 6.10 pm.
Fundraising will be for the Make Poverty History
campaign. All welcome, Muslims and non Muslims,
especially members of the African and Caribbean
communities.
Guests: Dr Daud Abdullah (Vice President, MCB), Imam
Mailk Ilyas (Caribbean Muslim Association), Shaikh
Ibrahim Yahya (Al-Hudaa), Mecca 2 Medina (Muslim
rap group) and Boxer Danny Williams (Former World
Heavy
Weight Champion).
Entrance is free but you must bring a traditional
African or Caribbean dish to share with other
attendees. It doesn't have to be something elaborate,
a simple dish will suffice.
