Non Muslims who eat meat but not halal meat do so on the grounds that the Islamic slaughter is inhumane.

The BNP make an issue out of halal meat. They object to it, like Ya'qub said, only because it is associated with Muslims.
Submitted by Ya'qub on 10 January, 2008 - 22:16 #844
no, they use the word 'inhumane' because it makes them feel less guilty than saying 'because it is a Muslim practice'.
the first thing that is cut is the spinal chord, so it is PROVEN that animals don't feel pain. Plus the meat stays fresher because it has been drained of all the blood.
I did question the need for parents to know whether or not the meat was halaal or not...but at the same time, I'd kick up a fuss if the Muslim kids werent told if the meat was halaal or not.

Your School Meals – Are They Really Halal?
By Yusuf Patel
There has been growing concern raised by local parents as to the authenticity of Halal meals being provided to Muslim children throughout schools in Lancashire, Bolton and Walsall.
Over the last few months, a long awaited investigation was instigated by a working group of recognized bodies and scholars including members of the:
• Lancashire Council of Mosques (LCM);
• Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM);
• Union of Muslim Organisations (UMO) of Walsall;
The initial investigation findings shocked the working group and raised worrying doubts and, in conjunction with the local councils of Lancashire, Bolton and Walsall the ‘Halal’ meat food items were immediately removed off the schools’ menu.
In a statement, Salim Mulla, Secretary of LCM said, “The working group requests all parents to take caution and stop their children from consuming any meat or chicken product within their schools. Other options such as packed lunches should be considered in the meantime.
We are working closely with the Local Councils to investigate and conclude this matter satisfactorily.” We are pleased that the Councils have adopted a positive response to rectify the supply chain issues with these umbrella bodies according to the HMC criteria.
The working group contacted HMC as the most trusted Halal monitoring organisation and have asked HMC to review the supply chain issues. HMC is currently working closely with all to ensure the provision of genuine Halal in schools by implementing a thorough monitoring system. HMC National Executive Member, Shaykh Hanif Dudhwala said in a statement, “It is a collective responsibility of the Councils and Muslim organisations across the UK to ensure the term Halal is not abused. We applaud LCM, BCoM and UMO for bringing this to light and addressing parents concerns. We support other bodies to take similar steps.” We also urge all parents throughout the country to take caution and enquire within their own Schools to ensure that their children are being provided with genuine Halal. If in any doubt then pick other meal options such as packed lunches or sandwiches.

Snow has fallen in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, for the first time in living memory - though it mostly melted into puddles on touching the ground.
People came out on to the streets to watch and some Iraqis said it was the first time they had seen such weather other than in films.
Snow is common in Iraq's mountainous Kurdish north but the closest thing Baghdad usually sees is hail.
Freezing night temperatures in the city are forecast for the weekend.
"I woke up and I saw snow falling, so I woke up all the family and told them to come and see the snowfall," Baghdad resident Aysar Khaled told Reuters news agency.
"Everyone in Baghdad is delighted because this is a new thing, this is the first time that it snows in Baghdad... The view is very beautiful."
Mohammed Abdul-Hussein, 63 and retired, told the Associated Press he had heard from his father when he was young that snow fell in the early 1940s on the outskirts of northern Baghdad.
"But snow falling in Baghdad in such a magnificent scene was beyond my imagination," he added.
Fawzi Karim, 40, said he had asked his 80-year-old mother, and she had never seen snow before in Iraq.
"This is so unusual, and I don't know whether or not it's a lesson from God," he added.
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
Thats reminds me of this program that was on the other night called the boys of Baghdad high or something like that. Did anyone watch it? It was about these 3 Muslim guys and a Christian guy that filmed their home and college life over a 6 month period. Was really funny.

Small correction, the incestuous couple in Germany who see nothing wrong with it have had 4 children, which the video mentions as an aside. I thought if that referred to the British twins that it would be odd for the article not to mention such a shocking thing! (Still one guesses they might have consummated their relationship - yuck - and will never again be able to look at themselves in the mirror.) I feel very sorry for them.

The Israeli pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim has been granted Palestinian citizenship in recognition of his work in promoting cultural exchange between young people in Israel and the Arab world.
The Argentine-born musician is believed to be the first person in the world to possess both passports after receiving his new documentation at the end of a piano concert of Ludwig van Beethoven sonatas, which he performed in Ramallah in the West Bank at the weekend.
"Under the most difficult circumstances he has shown solidarity with the Palestinian people," Mustafa Barghouti, the Palestinian MP and presidential candidate said at the charity concert to raise money for medical aid for children in the Gaza Strip.
Barenboim, 65, who is musical director of the Staatsoper in Berlin and Milan's La Scala opera house, established his West-Eastern Divan orchestra with the American-Palestinian intellectual Edward Said in 1999 following a workshop in Germany. The orchestra's aim is to bring together musicians from Israel and Arabic countries to exchange ideas and perform together.
Barenboim, who is a regular and lively commentator on the Middle East conflict, said he was "moved and very, very happy" to receive the citizenship, adding that he accepted it because it "symbolises the everlasting bond between the Israeli and Palestinian people".
In a pointed reference to US president George Bush's recent comments on the Middle-East conflict in which he talked of Israel's "occupation" of the West Bank, Barenboim added: "Now even not very intelligent people are saying that the occupation has to be stopped."
