NO TOPIC

You β€”

Well This is the new No Topic Topic. πŸ˜›

For those who do not know, this place is to talk about nothing. Nada. Zilch. And everything else which according to you does not deserve it's own topic.

The other one was getting a bit long, and was just full of bickering now.

So we have a new start.

The bickering in the Old no topic should not be carried over to here.

EDIT - go to NO TOPIC the Third.

Its not easy bro.

You know how its like to the run-up to the exams? Where you're stressn about revising everything. Its like that 24/7. From the beginning of September till June/July next year.

Its not Hard the work itself... its just the AMOUNT of work. Pure people have dropped out. I had to convince one sister to stick with it as she was thinking of dropping out too. Compared to the LPC... the LLB is nothing.

Im barely coping with it to be honest. And thats only because I have friends on the LPC and people who've done it already. So we help each other out (although strictly speaking theres not supposed to be ANY working togeather allowed). Plus I was on the GDl... that was alot tougher than the LLB too. So Im used to having it tough. That gives me an edge.

When you do the LPC... you better come with the hunger to work your ass off. For the duration of the LPC there is NO social life. You will work, sleep and breath LPC. That is what it takes.

Not to scare you or anything... but just want to impress upon you the seriousness of the course.

MuslimSister β€” Sat, 8 Dec 2007 - 23:33

Some teachers have such super presence that all they need to do is walk into their classroom or anyone elses classroom and they have instant silence.

I havent mastered that technique yet...however, it took me 8 weeks just to master the art of giving the 'look' without saying a word which forces a kid to stop whatever silly thing he/she's doing.....although it does take a few seconds for them to realise that your looking at them.

Thanks man

everyone who has done/is doing LPC says exactly the same words - thats whats getting to me!! No life whatsoever...i dont know if i can do that :? i spend a lot of time with family, and mates, and studying at home has always been hard.....cant really be doing last minute stuff for LPC can i?

And if its like exam-time all year round.....im seriously having doubts, i do believe in ma own abilities, but exam stress takes everything outta me ...cant do it from september til june :?

i knew the degree was walk in park in comparison.....but i guess you have to remember its only a year you gotta stick it out...and it will pay off...i think :?

im majorly confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™

Dont be.

Just have confidence in yourself. Take it a day at a time.

Since it started ive had like 2 days off... (not including today).

Otherwise, you've wasted three years of your life doing a degree which you werent even gonna use to get a job.

In the end its up to you and what you want from life.
Students 'should use Wikipedia'

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales has said teachers who refuse younger students access to the site are "bad educators".

Speaking at the Online Information conference at London's Olympia, he played down the long-running controversy over the site's authority.

He said young students should be able to reference the online encyclopaedia in their work.

I must say I use Wikipedia for my courseworks, it is really helpful. I referenced it once last year and was told by the lecturer not to use it again. But I still do use it but just can't say that I used it.

Does anyone else do this?

Noor β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 12:28

all the time. i copy and paste fat chunks from them.

Dr Who β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 12:36

i use wikipedia fairly regularly for assignments...my lecturers dont like it either, so i use the references given in the articles instead!

i suppose lecturers dont want students to take the easy way out and actually want them to research a subject thoroughly by using 'authoritative sources'.

Ya'qub β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 13:17

wikipedia usually has references at the bottom of the articel.

just put those as your references (maybe check if they're correct first)!

Funzo β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 16:23

I edit wikipedia regularly and you would be suprised how quickly they are changed, recently i was banned for "vandalism".

Seraphim β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 16:39

The problem with Wikipedia is that it cant be trusted to present a clear and accurate picture that hasnt been edited by some wannabe.

Its good, dont get me wrong, but its reliability is whats under question. Since any old tom dick and their dog harry can go around editting it.

Its best to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Naz β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 20:11

That is the case with anything that you have not written yourself.

Why would another source be more reliable?

I would say others would be less so as the authors then have to cover issues they do not know much about. In wikipedia everyone writes about the topic they are interested in.

Since anyone can edit, I doubt many do just for the sake of vandalism. There is no "fun" in vandalising something you are allowed to.

MuslimSister β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 21:59

Ideally - I'd love finger food.

Sandwiches, fruit/meat kebabs, chicken wings, sesame prawn toast, prawn skewer etc etc

And every dessert under the sun (mostly English).

And ideally the event wouldnt last for more than a hour.

Noor β€” Sun, 9 Dec 2007 - 22:00

would you have it in the evening or afternoon?

Snoopz β€” Wed, 12 Dec 2007 - 00:12

nope.

when did it come on?

Noor β€” Wed, 12 Dec 2007 - 00:46

10.35 - 11.30

got an assignment for 1pm tmmrw and i havent started it! i'm so tired, want to go to sleeeeep! admin, any tips on how to keep myself awake? i'm thinking, shall i go to bed now and wake up for 6.30ish? knowing me, i'll snooze till 9/10!!

You β€” Wed, 12 Dec 2007 - 00:49

plan everything out, then go to sleep. The mind will keep working while the body rests.

Or finish the whole thing. There is a period of about half an hour to an hour where you will feel extra extra sleepy. Overcome that, and you will be good to go til the next day - all without feeling too drowsy.

Turn down the temperature or open a window and that will wake you up a little more.

MuslimBro β€” Wed, 12 Dec 2007 - 01:42

It's funny you should mention it, coz I'm doing an essay right now. It's also due in tomorrow and I've only written 2 lines for my intro.

My mate drinks red bull but I just have tea and biscuits... not to stay awake but coz I'm hungry. I can't work properly when I'm hungry.

Just stay awake, finish your work and then you'll feel so much better.

Snoopz β€” Wed, 12 Dec 2007 - 02:11

i cant sleep. my sleeping patterns messed up. i missed two lectures already this week 1 which i had a presentation to do, another presentation 2moro... dont think im gna make it..
Did anyone watch Mr and Mrs Bin Laden?
yep

She is sooo possessive and the way she was speaking to that reporter, if anyone spoke like that to me i would give them a back hand. Its a publicity stunt she loves the attention and she is profiting from it. She was saying how much he loves her but most of the time when he was with her it seemed like he was in a world of his own like he didn’t care. He was going on about marrying another wife coz he wants a kid. Doesn’t he already have a 3year old son from his previous marriage?
