Why is sci-fi godless?

You

Why is there never God in sci-fi?

There is one exception to this 'rule' of scifi, but apart from that everything always conforms.

So in scifi why is there no room for God?
I wonder why that is...
Commercialisation i guess. People usualy are at home around the holiday times... i guess the big channels want to draw in ratings etc...

As to why they repeat those films... who knows...

Going back to the Dune Trilogy.

I have finished them a few weeks ago now, and never commented because I wanrted to see if over time my views would change.

I found the better book to be Dune Messiah.

In children of dune, you could rip off a hundred pages, and there eould be no diference to the actual story.

Dune was good, but it was best when still at the plotting stage. After that slightly downhill.

Good read, poor end to the trilogy, with the only expanation being 'it was in the prescient visions.'

he was never the sharpest at Fighting class in Hero School!!

but he was an exception as he had a likeable character, and he was a part-time superHero!!

the movie 'dark water' was not so much scary as sad so very sad about a mother's love for her child, a childs need for a mother and a mother who did not love her child and another mother who did not love her child

lol it was roids rage!!! I completely missed that.

hahah athat makes so much sense - I had a friend back in high school who used roids.

Wow...

Godfather and Goodfellas are def the best mob films

Have you ever seen Oceans 11?

It's not really a mob movie but it's gambling and stealing so it might as well be.

Thats one of my all time favs

laila — Thu, 15 Dec 2005 - 19:21

I've actually seen 'the butterfly effect' i personally thought it was really good... altho it didnt do really well at the cinema... the same with Gothika.

Watched Kungfu Hustle... you just get the whole matrix theme throughout the movie... TheOne...String-KungFu effects... and the end fight scene looks disturbingly like the one from Reloaded... mixed with comedy... and a bit of a love story with the lollipop girl thats not really explored at all. But it was okay... not too bad.

Anyone watchd 'The House of Flying Daggers' or 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon'??

Butterfly Effect was really good (and disturbing).

One of those ones you start recommending to everybody and then double check yourself because it's not suitable for all audiences.

lol for example your little cousin...

Watched crouching tiger, hidden dragon.

Good moves, dissappointed by the love story (keep them out of films!)

dissapointed by the plot, it was a little bit, not really a plot like.

However, wanted to wartch Kung fu Hustle and ong bak. 😃

tru... there was too much of a love story thing in House of Flying Daggers... and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was mostly about a stolen sword... until you get to the vengence, murder, and cultural oppression part.

Dawud — Thu, 15 Dec 2005 - 19:53

Did you watch Jet Li's 'the legend' now that was a film.

A group of armed stooges guarding the imposter leader.

Entr Jet Li:

Blind folded and recovering from have his nerve endings cut up, carrying a bag of swords.

"you cannot defeat me, my actions are guided by heaven."

Show starts (proverbially) stooges going down left right and centre.

Seraphim — Thu, 15 Dec 2005 - 20:02

ive got fist of legend by jet li.... is that the same one? Havnt watched it.

speaking of which. Jet Li has retired from Kungfu movies... he now wants to do family dramas etc.

laila — Thu, 15 Dec 2005 - 20:11

jet li's 'hero' was the better movie

house of flying daggers only the title was good

crouching tiger now thats a film

old movie 'deliverance' is really good and disturbing i only came across it recently

is emily rose one worth watchin? i dont want to be dissapointed....

and white noise the one about those sounds thru that machine and the horses or sumfin yeah? oh god....bringin back memories....im scared!!

- Jet Li is a loada rubbish, avoid all his movies
- Crouching Tiger wasnt bad, pretty kool at the tiem - 1st to do all those walking on trees effects
-House of daggers was awesomly cool i thought - 3 different stories in one film
- Kung Fu was overrated - OTT action, sumtymz ok. rarely funny

butterfly effect the ashton kutcher one?

in King Kong -.......apparently theres some similarities to the story of Yog and Mog...

Sirus — Fri, 16 Dec 2005 - 00:37
