so it depends on how loose the clothes are.

jockeys clothing is usually tight-fitting, i doubt she'd ride in summat loose enuf that adheres to Islamic dress codes... wierd saudis. :?

i think its pretty well-known that the Prophet (s.a.w)'s wives rode horses, and that he raced 'Aaishah (r.a.). 🙂

women riding in COMPETITIONS where the whole world sees her jumping up and down on a horse is blatantly wrong.

If any1 wants explanation I really dont know what to say, wanting explanations for the obvious is baffling me.

Incase people come out with the Sahabiyah radhiyallahu anhum riding horses and engaging in battle I would kindly point out that those who did this were isolated incidents, they did it fully covered.

Some may wish to cite the incident of the Sister of Sayyidina Dhirar radhiyallahu anhuma. The point of this story is that She radhiyallahu anha was fully covered and did not wish to be known, it was only when Sayyidina Khalid radhiyallahu anh demanded the third time as her Ameer and Ameer of the lashkar that she replied that she was the Sister of Sayyidina Dhiraar radhiyallahu anhum ajmaee, even she didnt stay and have a chit chat but receded back into purdah after the battle.

It is among the signs of Qiyaamah that women will be in the riding seats, sorry reference not to hand at moment.

I do not see why you have a problem with actual horseriding.

If its about who sees, is it not the duty of the watcher to control his/her eyes here?

Competition is allowed to involve women.

Women have ridden horses in the past (as you have attested).

The way I see it these women should be provided a working framework instead of just alienating them.

exposing yourself means you are breaking Islamic rules ragarding yourself. You cannot expose parts that should be under hijab.

Competing does not mean you will break the above.

By your standards if a woman leaves the house we should all stare at her, and not obey the rights of the street.

They should be allowed to go out just as long as they cover them selves and obey the Islamic rules, I do not see anything wrong with hourse ridding.

there is nothing wrong with women horseriding aslong as all the religious requirements are fulfilled..that is hardly the case,

if the conditions arent met then it aint deemed permissable...(in the case of that lady)

ah ok, Med did not mean, as he first said, that women HORSERIDING is wrong in itself, but rather that them COMPETING in normal jockeys clothing in front of a mixed audience is wrong.

if i got that right, then yeh, i agree ofcourse. i just wasnt too sure where u were coming from as u made it sound like women cant horseride at all.

and i think Admins agreeing too but he's saying that we should provide for the women who may want to compete, the way Iran does, by providing women-only competitions or Islamically acceptable horseriding-wear.

Too be honest i was about to start new threads on them (Kids, Money), but i normally have a quick check too see if there a thread broadly on the same subject already on the forum and if it is i just post what i have too say in that, but normally in the process i find a couple of other threads that i haven't posted in and thats why I bring them up again. But I will stop doing that, because it can become repetitive for others.

mashaALLAH that MAWLANA is amazing innit. He has such a beautiful way of expressing himself, was he a singer or something before?

watched a programme he did yesterday on islam channel...mashallah he is so good,

I knw what u mean. I was just watching how he answered questions. Normally with the alim who answers the question they just kinda give an answer and dont talk about other stuff, thats great and good because thats the point of the Q and A BUT this Mawlana takes time over the answer. He starts talking about some personal aspects of his life and about his experiences and looks at the question from a number of angles. AND Mawlana brings some pure clean and light humour into his answers.

MashaALLAH I am very impressed. You know when sometimes you see someone and their behaviour and character refreshes ones own imaan? Thats what I got when hearing Mawlana Yusuf Sahib speak.

May ALLAH accept him in the ranks of ulama and make His speech effective. May HE ta'ala forgive us and him.
