Well This is the new new No Topic Topic. ๐Ÿ˜›

For those who do not know, this place is to talk about nothing. Nada. Zilch. And everything else which according to you does not deserve it's own topic. (Or you could choose to make a blog post)

Salaams ppl

Whenever i work into a takeaway or a newsagent which is owned by Muslims i always say salaams. I know its not compulsory to say it to a man but i feel weird if i dont greet another Muslim. Anyhow, i rarely ever get a reply back which really bugs me. The other day it got me thinking what if Muslim men feel intimated by a Muslim woman saying salaam to them. :doubt:

JazakAllah Khair x

they probably reply really quietly. i think i do the same, actually depends on the shop and whose there. i've noticed its only the pakis who don't respond, mind you if a pervy looking paki said salam i wouldn't reply back loud or any other guy infact. i usually utter it under me breath and its forced (the reply), literally. it's like arghh 'wa alaaaaykum (dirty look, ) salaam' hmmfh!

Ya'qub โ€” Sun, 22 Feb 2009 - 08:41

Quite a number of people don't reply to my salams in Syria... most do (with a big smile) but a significant number don't.

i know its cos they don't realise that white Muslims exist etc... but its not very nice!

It's not their fault! They don't have much in the way of international TV and probably can't use the internet. For all they know 'The West' is out to get 'Islam'. There are many Muslims who think that way in the UK too  .
wot is fiqh?????
erm, well dont take what i say to hold, but when I asked this question ages ago, this is what I was told:

* fiqh is islamic jurisprudence/law

*Basically the study of how you to do stuff in islam eg how exactly you pray, how exactly you do wudu, ghusl etc
what things break salah etc

Im sure others can expand on that answer for you.

Ya'qub's (current) signature:

What if your friend is also a fool? What then, eh? eh?

How amazing is that? I've had that signature for ages and I was going to change it today! In fact, I'm about to change it now! I got a really good one today.

There are no coincidences... just the illusion of them.

Who mentioned coincidences?

If it was a merely 'coincidence', why would it be 'amazing'?

That's good, it's good to say Salam to everyone, if the Muslim cashier/server looks a bit intimidated, well... he'll get used to it.
