NO TOPIC the Third
Well This is the new new No Topic Topic. ๐
For those who do not know, this place is to talk about nothing. Nada. Zilch. And everything else which according to you does not deserve it's own topic. (Or you could choose to make a blog post)
The other one was getting a bit long... So we have a new start.
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
I feel tired and fed up! ๐
I Blame Uni work! Dame Uni work! :x
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Mez. Uni work can be hard, especially if you are on your own.
I suggest, you find a nice friend to work with. Talk to him, or her, and your tiredness will end.
You have a good heart.
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
I do have lots of friends, but its just the uni work and assignment deadlines that makes me feel tired and fed up! One assignment after the other! ๐
When will it end! :|

Once you graduate ๐
Just space it out as much as possible and have a timetable so you can get as much out the way as possible, it can be very tough at times.
This is coming from someone who used to be up at 4am doing uni work on the I had to hand in work. But then again I work better under pressure.
Good luck and I hope uni becomes less stressing for you x

Will Mez brave her fears and emerge victorious from the Uni Work? Can she wield the weapon of Resilience?
Barack Obama will say: "Yes she can!"
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Spirituality is a state of mind which can be achieved through religion. For example when we pray or do Dhikr, or when people do Yoga. By the way, some people count Yoga as a religion.
Does anyone round here know of any books/ literature regarding SPIRITUALITY ? Not necessarily a *branch* of spiritualism but rather the concept of how Muslims aren't all about the external actions and bending of limbs but in fact alot more to do with how our actions should be initiated by our inner self and our affiliation to the Divine... ?
Thank you people :D
Inner Dimensions of Islamic Worship by Imam al-Ghazali
It's great! It's rather short, but deals with the 5 pillars (and shows exactly how/why they aren't merely physical movements).

Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Salaams ppl,
Hope ur all in gud health.
This is gonna sound like a really stupid question but im gonna ask anyway.
When i come home and find relatives sitting there i always give salaams and shake hands (to avoid getting smooched)starting from the right side of the room working my way to the left coz your suppose to do everything with the right (pass with the right, eat with the right, read from the right) but sometimes the oldest person in the room is sitting on the left hand side. What do you do in that situation? Do you:
a) ignore the fact that there is an elderly relative sat on the left hand side of the room and start from the right working ur way to the left OR
b) start from the left coz thats where the old person is sat and it would be disrespectful if you didnt start with them first?
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Salaams
I *think* you are supposed to work towards your right. but the question still stands about how to go about it if that person is on the other end.
Personally, I just try to ignore everyone and say salaams and take a seat, but it probably is different for girls.
Erm... respect can be an important thing, so start with the eldest?
Either way, neither are "wrong" IMO.
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Do whichever is convenient.
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
It's up to you which side you start from because starting from the right is sunnah not fardh. so if you think it would be disrespectful to the elders then start with them otherwise it is better to start from right.

According to my housemates, you should start with the elderly relative first.
Or anyone who is in the 'older generation' age bracket of the group.

My thoughts exactly
Personally, I just try to ignore everyone and say salaams and take a seat, but it probably is different for girls.
If i ever did that mother dearest would make me back up again and shake hands with everyone
Do whichever is convenient.
Easier said than done. I would stick with woking right to left instead of old to young but mother dearest aint having it.

Im assuming (i could be wrong) that they r talkin from a cultural point of view rather than religious? :doubt:
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Those housemates are students of shariah in Syria. He only asks them to get religious views. I think.
I would trust them. because Ya'qub does.

It is a religious duty to show respect to elders, as well as cultural.
And they were ansering 'Islamically'.
And they are WAY more knowledgeable than anyone here, I think!

Fair enough
Re: NO TOPIC the Third
Hi!
That's unfair - we were allowed to buy past papers for 50p a pop in Uni of Leeds for (as far as I know) any course we wanted! just needed to go to the examinations office.
(I still never went through them much...)
