Does anyone know who Idris Tawfiq is?
I've heard the name, I think he was a Roman Catholic priest who converted to Islam.
But WHO is he? What are his views like? Any help, please.
Cos someone's gonna give him my number, he's in Syria at the moment. Is it worth speaking/listening to him?
Thank you!
Rochdale to send shoes to George Bush (in peace protest!)
Written by Nicola Bamford
Wednesday, 17 December 2008
Following the example of organisations across the world, Rochdale and Littleborough Peace group has urged people to send their shoes to former president George Bush.
This echoes the act of Iraqi journalist Muntadar al-Zaida who threw his own shoes at Bush in an act of protest last Monday (15 December), crying “This is for the widows, the orphans, and those who were killed in Iraq.”
Philip Gilligan, a member of Rochdale and Littleborough Peace group, stated: “Throwing shoes is a sign of contempt in the Middle East and we certainly want to express our contempt for the man who launched the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq. Many here will be joining the British shoe protest at the US embassy in London at 1pm on Friday 19 December 2008.”
I'd like to recommend a book to you: Fascinating Womanhood by Helen Andelin.
It was written in the 1950s, but imho many of these old books have timeless wisdom and long abandoned values in them. Ive got a feeling that you'll love it.

Salaams Seraph,
Im i not worthy of a salaam?
Erm paper B was better than paper A. I think it might have been ur formals papers, Greenwood Solutions wanting to incorporate a new company selling stoves from Scandinavia. Sound familiar?
I dont understand why we werent allowed to draft in the exam. The focus of the SGS's is to get our drafting prefect and then in the exam they are telling you to write out what u want to keep, delete or amend. Doing that along with 3 other questions in 2 hours is impossible. I got bored of saying delete the brackets so gave up half way. I need to double check wiv my tutor but if thats what the formal exam is going to be like then i need to time myself so i get everything down.
Secondly since when is writing in a box classed as MCQ's? Jane said that the MCQ's were going to be yes or no. They werent u had to pick from A,B,C,D.
They stuck revenue law in the MCQ's question! I thought we would be gettin an actual scenario like we did in the SGS's.
Overall they werent bad papers, i knew exactly what the questions were getting at n what law to apply but had to rush through Paper A so my answers are kinda brief. PCFSMA i was dreading in case i didnt pick it up but recognised it straight away. Looking at the answer guidance i think ive just about scraped in a pass.
@Sid ur welcome
@You Can i ask u something? U know bk in ur uni days did u ever take out a student loan? If u did were u on the old system (max u cud tk out was 2 grand i think) or new system (max 3 grand)? My understanding is that you dont pay back the student loan until ur making min 15 grand a year. The wipe off the debt when u reach pension age. My friend is on the old system so im not sure whether the rules were different back then. She took out 2 grand and once she graduated she neva worked. The student loans ppl started taking money out of her account which was her benefit money (im sure benefits dont count as an income). She moved her benefits to another account to stop them doing it. She got a letter from the student loan saying theyr gonna take her to court n she owes then 7 grand in total now. Apparently it was her responsibility to inform them that she wasnt working which im pretty sure isnt true. I know how the new system works but not the old. There might be different terms and conditions.

Nope, thats reserved for people who actually log in lol. Kidding. Salaam Naz.
OMG yes Greenwood Solutions... that rings a bell. Wow... I had no idea they were gonna use those papers. I think ive still got the answer guidance for those lying around some where haha.
You should have asked silly, i would have passed them to you before hand.
Yeah, the same thing happened to us as well. Everyone complained about the drafting Q. It wasnt soo bad in the real one though as it wasnt anything that long.
LOL, didnt you know thats how the MCQs were gonna be? Yeah, they're all either pick one from A, B, C, D or True or False questions. And yes, Revenue does crop up sometimes in the MCQs as well but i think we did get a propper question in the form of a scenario.
Professional conduct Q i was fine on, but i had no idea what the FSMA questions were on about (ill admit i pretty much slept through that SGS lol). So i had to brush up on it before i went in for the real thing.

I was on the newish system - No need to pay back if I die or reach the age of 65 before paying it back. Inshallah neither will happen.
As for her having to pay it all back - I think a part of the nold system was a grant, not a loan. For the loan bit, if she does not work, I am not a lawyer but would she not be making payments of around £1 a month of something?
I doubt that it is her responsibility. the money is normally taken with the taxes and the NI from the wages.

@ the Seraph lol im jus bein lazy. Probs wud be easier to log in as i neva gt the captch right the 1st tym.
Oh it was ur mock too hmmm strange. I think they use the same one in the following year coz it must take a while to think about the company and what to include in the relevant documents. I was actually thinking bout askin u coz of one of the documents in the pre released paper (John Brown wanting to form a company selling computer chips but in the meantime wanted us to hold a substantial amount of money for him) i couldnt tell what it was but then when i was reading the PC stuff it clicked to me its money laundering. D'oh /smacks head.
I wanted to do the mock without knowing the answers coz that way i know where im going wrong and what areas i need to improve on before the formal. JazakAllah Khair for the offer anyway. Im with u on the FSMA stuff sooooo borin, the online tutorials were worse i cudnt bring myself to listen to them, jus read out of the book instead.
No i didnt realise the MCQ's were going to be A,B,C,D ones and T n F. There was only one T/F question and about 3 where u had to writ in the box. Theyr were on bankruphy which i didnt av a clue what the answers were as were behind on the syllabus (there was a double booking on the lecture theatre on the last day of term and we got thrown out  ). Thy said they are going to take that into consideration when marking it. Cant wait till BLP is over, i absolutely detest it.
@ You salaams. Shes quite adamant its a loan (ive not actually seen the papers yet). If it had been a grant they wudnt be askin her to pay it back. As far as im aware (from my own experience) u dont pay jack all until u earn £15 grand plus and even then its like £7 a week i think. If u have no income where can they deduct that £1 from? I know theyr suppose to send u financial statement each year showin a breakdown of what u owe but she sayin she neva got them. Instead shes got court papers in the post which they cant do without giving her prior notice. I think wiv her goin to Pak back and forth alot in the past couple of years it has messed it up for her someone. Thanks for ur help anyway

I may not have done all that well at uni, but some friendly advice regarding something I noticed - they will always repeat the same questions year after year unless there is a major change to the course.
Swat up on last years questions (you can buy past papers) and the exams will be gravy.

^^^^ wasalaam,
Very true. They are limited to what they can ask and ur right they will put similar questions. The thing it they wont give us any past papers (i think the reason being what u have said about repeating questions). The only past paper we could download was from 2001 and since then the format of the exam has changed (it use to be one 3 hour paper and now its 2 papers which are 4 hours in total plus its more complex now then before). They wont even let u keep the exam paper after the exam is over, everything has to be handed in. On the undergrad u cud download past papers which was really helpful for me but they are refusin to even give us a link on the post grad. I wud pay to get past papers but dont know where u gt em from. I dont think the uni sells past papers. No point of buying past papers from other unis or from the web coz their format will be different to ours.
