The famous footballer Emmanuel Adebayor has recently converted to Islam. In an , Emmanuel Adebayor gives some reasons for why he converted to Islam and why he believed that Muslims are truer followers of Jesus (pbuh):

I GOT 13 VALID REASONS WHY AND HOW MUSLIMS ARE LIKE JESUS (PBUH) AND TRUER FOLLOWERS OF JESUS THAN MOST CHRISTIANS BELIEVE:

1. Jesus (pbuh) taught that there is only One God and Only God should be worshipped as taught in Deut 6:4, Mark 12:29. Muslims also believe this as taught in the Qur’an verse 4:171.

2. Jesus (pbuh) didn’t eat pork as taught in Leviticus 11:7 , and neither do Muslims as taught in the Qur’an verse 6:145.

3. Jesus (pbuh) greeted with the words “as salaamu alaikum” (Peace be with you) in John 20:21. Muslims also greet each other this way.

4. Jesus (pbuh) always said “God Willing” (inshallah), Muslims say this too before doing anything as taught in the Qur’an verses 18:23-24.

5. Jesus (pbuh) washed his face, hands, and feet before praying. The Muslims do the same.

6. Jesus (pbuh) and other prophets of the Bible prayed with their head to the ground (see Matthew26:39). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verse 3:43.

7. Jesus (pbuh) had a beard and wore a throbe. It is Sunnah for Muslim men to do the same.

8. Jesus (pbuh) followed the law and believed in all the prophets, (see Matthew 5:17). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verses 3:84, and 2:285.

9. Jesus’ mother Maryam (pbut) dressed modestly by fully covering her body and wearing a headscarf (hijab) as found in 1 Timothy 2:9, Genesis 24:64-65, and Corinthians 11:6. Muslim women modestly dress the same as taught in the Qur’an verse 33:59.

10. Jesus (pbuh) and other prophets of the Bible fasted up to 40 days (see Exodus 34:28, Daniel 10:2-6. 1Kings 19:8, and Matthew 4:1-Muslims do so also during the month of Ramadan. Muslims are required to fast the full obligatory 30 days (see Qur’an 2:183), and others take it a step further by fasting an additional 6 days to increase their rewards.

11. Jesus (pbuh) taught to say “Peace to this house” when entering it (see Luke 10:5), and to also greet the people in the house with “peace be unto you”. Muslims do exactly what Jesus did and taught. When we enter our homes and the homes of others we say “Bismillah” and also greet with “as salaamu alaikum” (peace be upon you) as taught in the Qur’an verse 24:61.

12. Jesus (pbuh) was circumcised. Circumcision is 1 of the 5 fitrah in Islam, so Muslim men are required to be circumcised. According to the Bible in Luke 2:21, Jesus was eight days old when he was circumcised. In the Torah, Allah/God stated to the Prophet Abraham (pbuh) that it is an “Everlasting covenant” (see Genesis 17:13). In the Qur’an verse 16:123 Muslims are required to follow the religion of Abraham. The Prophet Muhammad (saws) said, “The Prophet Abraham
circumcised himself when he was eighty years old.” (see Sahih hadith Bukhari, Muslim, and Ahmad).

13. Jesus (pbuh) spoke aramaic and called God ”Elah”, which is pronounced the same as “Allah”. Aramaic is an ancient, Biblical language. It is one of the Semitic languages that also include Hebrew, Arabic, Ethiopic and the ancient Assyrian and Babylonian language of Akkadian.
The Aramaic”Elah” and the Arabic “Allah” are the same.

The Aramaic “Elah” is derived from the Arabic “Allah”, and it means “GOD”. “Allah” in Arabic also means”GOD”, the Supreme GOD Almighty. You can easilysee the similarity in their pronunciation so this concludes that the God of Jesus is also the God of the Muslims, of all mankind, and all that exist.

Now tell me who is the real follower of jesus (pbuh)? Obviously Muslims. Now I believe am a true follower of Jesus PBUH

Whilst i believe that Emmanuel Adebayor truly believes what he as said, He does not fully understand the teachings of Jesus. Jesus, to Christians is more then a Prophet.

1. Jesus (pbuh) taught that there is only One God and Only God should be worshipped as taught in Deut 6:4, Mark 12:29. Muslims also believe this as taught in the Qur’an verse 4:171

Mark 12:29

29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Qur’an verse 4:171.

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

Matthew 16:15-17

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”  16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

Mark 12:29 and Matthew 16:15-17.

The Lord our God is one, You are the son of God, but this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but my father in heaven.

plus Qur’an verse 4:171

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. To him belongs all that is in the heavens and on the earth.

To sum up Jesus is the son of God who created mankind. Do not be over zealous in your religion. Tell the truth at all times, also we are all simply the stewards of the earth. The real owner is God.

2. Jesus (pbuh) didn’t eat pork as taught in Leviticus 11:7 , and neither do Muslims as taught in the Qur’an verse 6:145.

Leviticus 11:7

7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

Qur’an verse 6:145

Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure - or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

Leviticus 11:7

Jewish Doctrine to be followed by the Jews. Yes Jesus was Jewish and followed most, but not all Jewish traditions.

Qur’an verse 6:145

The Qur'an follows Jewish tradition, but in [But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."

The Qur'an states that your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.

Note the above statement for later

3. Jesus (pbuh) greeted with the words “as salaamu alaikum” (Peace be with you) in John 20:21. Muslims also greet each other this way.

John 20:21-23

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

4. Jesus (pbuh) always said “God Willing” (inshallah), Muslims say this too before doing anything as taught in the Qur’an verses 18:23-24.

Qur’an verses 18:23-24.

And never say of anything, "Indeed, I will do that tomorrow," Except [when adding], "If Allah wills." And remember your Lord when you forget [it] and say, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to right conduct."

Both are also common greetings by Christians to others. "God bless you" or "God keep you/us safe"

Matthew26:39

39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Qur’an verse 3:43.

O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."

Matthew26:39

He did this in the garden of Gethsemane, just prior to him being led away to be tried by the Jewish Authorities and Crucified by Pontius Pilot.

Note; he said “My father, if it is possible”

But when Jews pray, they stand with arms open, palms upwards [ref temple mount in Jerusalem?]

Qur’an verse 3:43.

Apears to be inviting women to pray in a similar manner to men. But yet Men and Women pray separately in Islam?

7. Jesus (pbuh) had a beard and wore a throbe. It is Sunnah for Muslim men to do the same.

I would say having a beard is optional. Not all Muslim men have beards and not all men who have beards are Muslim?

8. Jesus (pbuh) followed the law and believed in all the prophets, (see Matthew 5:17). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verses 3:84, and 2:285.

Matthew 5:17

The Fulfilment of the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them.

The above is why most Christians follow the teachings and examples of Jesus in the New Testament and pay little regard to the Old Testament. [Too many contradictions in the Old Testament]. Even though all are collectively called the Bible.

Qur’an verses 3:84, and 2:285.

Qur’an verses 3:84

Say, "We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him."

Qur’an verses 2:285.

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination."

Quran 3:84

[and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him."]

Quran 2:285

And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination."

Yet One of Jesus’ Commandment was "To love God with all your Body and Soul and to treat others as you would yourself?

1 Timothy 2:9

9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,

1 Corinthians 11:6

6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

Qur’an verse 33:59

O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

1 Timothy 2:9 and 1 Corinthians 11

Two readings a] Dress Modestly? and b] The threat to cut off her hair if she does not cover her head? It would not be very Christian to cut of a woman’s hair. This has been done but for other reasons other then religion?

Qur’an verse 33:59

Tell your wives, daughters and women of believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That way they will be known and not be abused?

This is the defence use by some Muslims to rape and abuse non-Muslim women?

Not very compassionate, nor a sign of self-control on the part of men?

Exodus 34:28

28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.

Matthew 4:1

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Qur’an 2:183

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous

Exodus 34:28

I suppose being taught the Ten Commandments and then to have them carved in stone is a fairly good reason to fast.

Matthew 4:1

To be tested by the devil and to prove your self-discipline is a good reason to fast also.

Qur’an 2:183

To do it [fasting] because it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous

Most Christians tend not to fast, but give up something we value for lent. The money saved we give to charity. This made me remember a Libyan who fasted during Ramadan. Eating a normal meal in the evening. The money he saved he also gave to charity, plus [his words] helped him to lose weight.

Luke 10:5

5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’

Qur’an verse 24:61

There is not upon the blind [any] constraint nor upon the lame constraint nor upon the ill constraint nor upon yourselves when you eat from your [own] houses or the houses of your fathers or the houses of your mothers or the houses of your brothers or the houses of your sisters or the houses of your father's brothers or the houses of your father's sisters or the houses of your mother's brothers or the houses of your mother's sisters or [from houses] whose keys you possess or [from the house] of your friend. There is no blame upon you whether you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, give greetings of peace upon each other - a greeting from Allah , blessed and good. Thus does Allah make clear to you the verses [of ordinance] that you may understand.

Luke 10:5

Jesus would eat with Jews, Gentiles, or indeed Prostitutes and Tax-collectors both deemed to be the lowest of the low. Still saying "Peace to this House"

Qur’an verse 24:61

Seems to me that this greeting is only for Family, Friends or fellow believers?

The Prophet Muhammad (saws) said, “The Prophet Abraham circumcised himself when he was eighty years old.” (see Sahih hadith Bukhari, Muslim, and Ahmad)

Genesis 17:13

13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

Qur’an verse 16:123

Then We revealed to you, [O Muhammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of those who associate with Allah .

Yes Jesus was circumcised, then again he was born a Jew. But in his teachings there was to be no difference, Jew or Gentile, Roman or Greek. All would be equal in the eyes of God the Father

Acts 15:5-29

But some believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees rose up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses.” The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter. And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. ...

Peter by the way of information was the Disciple that Jesus called his Rock and on this rock i shall build my Church.

Matthew 16:18

18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

You can easily see the similarity in their pronunciation so this concludes that the God of Jesus is also the God of the Muslims, of all mankind, and all that exist. Now tell me who is the real follower of Jesus (pbuh)? Obviously Muslims. Now I believe am a true follower of Jesus PBUH

Agreed Jesus spoke Aramaic [the local dialect of Palestine at the time] But do you really mean, or appear to mean that only people who speak, read or write one of the Semitic languages can be Muslim? If so that will upset a lot of Muslims?

Now tell me who is the real follower of Jesus (pbuh)? Obviously Muslims. Now I believe am a true follower of Jesus PBUH

A true follower of Jesus, IMHO is one who can understand and follow what Jesus taught his followers. About giving to the needy, prayer and fasting. The Lords Prayer, which for the benefit of all believers as been translated into all the worlds languages.

Mathew chap 6 v1 to 18

Giving to the Needy

6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

The Lord's Prayer

5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Pharisees do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done,on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses.

As we also have forgiven those who trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Fasting

16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
