EID........WHEN YOU CELEBRATING?

Since I am a Paki. I follow Pakistan.

They do the Ramadan and Eid according to Islam.

Saudis do it according to their own whims.

it is both valid to follow your own country or another muslim country, usually the next one closest to you. However it is encouraged for muslims living in the same country to perform Eid together and not cause divisions amongst each other. So ideally all muslims in the UK should be sighting the moon here rather than going by Saudi, Pakistan, Morroco or whatever other country. But we don't live in an ideal world do we.

pakistan sinbad!!

pakistan sinbad!!

I heard that the moon will be sighted in Istanbul on monday.

For historical reasons I'll go with the Turks.

Dunno if that's official or not.

Yash is right, why can't everyone in UK celebrate on the same day?

It would be so much easier and so much happier.

Is anything even being done to bring the different mosques together? so that they can meet and decide on one eid?? If there is, then at least we can be optomistic!!

I very much doubt it.

Too much politics and too many egos involved.

Maybe we could celebrate Eid for 3 days running?

That would be inclusive and integrated.

I call thursday.

Just to be different.

Things are being done but those funded by Saudi petro-dollars are still stubborn:

At least your town is making an attempt to do something about it!

I think the new phase of the moon should be out tonight... therefore technically eid should be on monday... however they say its not going to be possible to view the moon till monday night so therefore we may be doing eid on Tuesday... and by 'we' i mean the Oldham crew.

I think Saudi said something similar and admitted they kept the first fast early by mistake, so it looks like alot of us may be doing it on the same day.

Back in BLACK

Wilmslow crashers are also delayed by one night.

Blame it on the moon boys.

i think we should follow the system in north america. over there representatives from each mosque/vicinity gather together to site the moon, and make a collective decision. Then ramadan/Eid is celebrated all over America on the same day, no arguments between different groups. This is the sort of unity we need, insha'Allah it happens some day.

totally agree

Gossip is the most destructive thing in the universe...

I hope eid is on monday, after 29 fasts! just so we are celabrating together!

live and let live!!!!!!!

Yeah.

If you started with saudi then you'll be doing Eid tmz and pakistan is doing Eid on tuesday same day as us who followed the uk.

Not necessarily…we didn’t start with Saudi, nor did our local Mosques…however; most of them are all doing Eid tomorrow.

Well its not tmz for us, so yeah tuesday.

I heard we doing it tues, don't care anymore to be honest

I couldnt care less either....Its not the confusion of Eid day that bothers me so much-thats the Mosques headache... its the confusion regarding the "Lailatul Jaiza" night that bugs me, I don't want to get that wrong.

I just pray that Allah (swt) bestows His Mercy on us all....regardless of when we do what we're supposed to be doing.

Yup He will inshallah as all deeds are dependent on one's intention.

Yeh Noor, it'll be 2moro for you...I'm most prob do a bit 2nite and tomorrow night, just to make sure I get the night right. :?

LilSis, is OK angel....just a bit busy, moody and withdrawn. Mainly cos of my Nan and partly cos of petty sibling rivalry.

Tell her I was asking how she was doing and to take it easy and if she needs help beatin your bro up i'll be there in no time joke!

I think I should try reading a bit today as well just 2 be on safe side.

live and let live!!!!!!!

I wanted to do it on thursday, but noone agreed.

Seems like I will have to go with my local mosque and do it on tueaday.

I knew that one day I would single handedly unite the Muslim Ummah! Blum 3

Now my life's work is complete and I can just chill.

So you're going to try something new, just for a change. Biggrin

We're celebrating eid today, monday. I always thought that muslims started ramadan (fasting) on the same day but I was wrong when I came into this forum, and now I see that we also can't agree on the day eid should be.

We all know that we are not supposed to fast on eid, so say for example I fast today and celebrate eid on tuesday, wouldn't that be wrong?
