Assalamu alaikum,
Our bodies are a trust given to us by Allah doesn't that mean we should nourish our body and soul? So is eating a balanced meal and exercising something that should be important in a muslim individuals life?
Apparently asians in the uk are twice as likely to get diabetes or heart disease than the rest of the population.
How fit are you do you eat a balanced meal, and what if anything does the Quran and sunnah say about exercise and healthy eating?
I dont mind sharing that i am eating rabbit food and working out it is torture, but exercise is addictive after a while.
Yh i keep telling these guys type 2 is gonna get them haha
but me, im fit as a fiddle!
(though i might get the odd stitch when u turn a corner other than that, fit as fiddle!
But u dont JUST eat rabbit food do u???? Does a strawberry and cream filled muffin get a look in sometimes??? (thats what I had yesterday)
"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah, do hearts find rest"
I'm trying my best to keep fit and eat healthy, our body has a right over us.
I also think think musims should learn to defend themselves too. It is a sunnah to do sports and to also learn how to fight.
The hardest part of exercising and keeping fit is keeping a healthy diet, for me anyway. I'm used to eating anything and everything and i have weakness for junk food. Alhamdulillah though i am now no longer clinically underweight (i don't know how i was underweight in the first place, i eat alot)
The Exercise i do:
Football once a week
MMA(mixed martial arts) twice a week (self defence/street fighting NOT the sport)
Gym 3/4 times a week
Cycling & swimming occasianally.
Beat that

why would i want to.
you beat: "running for the bus"
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
id love to do martial arts except ive never been a confident person it would be tough for me to do something in front of a group...specially if the instructor said right you you can be my guinea pig...id run out the room rather than be embarrassed.
ive built up a home gym fortunate to have a spare room, i do cardio and strength training every morning, so my bones are aching before the kids give me lots of mayhem, life is fun fun fun.
swimming im envious of you boys i couldnt do that unless it was a private pool, even the cctv guys have to be considered if sisters are gonna swim uff!
im very impressed i dont think anyone here can top that, unless you call reaching out for the remote control exercise...
Bilan no the cream cakes dont tempt me, seriously all rabbit food. The first week weaning off the normal food is tough but its been a few months my body has got used to it. i can eat a tiny portion and feel full and the weight is dropping off so im happy. only thing i miss is my normal ethnic food, i mean i cook it for everyone but i dont eat it. Also chocolate, if i really want something bad rather than gauging on it i would have a chocolate square off the bar rather than the whole thing. but my sweet fix these days is nutrition shakes or yoghurt with berries. i have one day which is my "free"day on which i can eat what i want so long as i dont overeat, and exercise is optional. but ive gotten into the roll of exercise so i still do it on my free day, and i only gauge out on the last meal of my free day rather than all day if that makes any sense.
i have a website im following actually i followed it with each baby i had . its like a 12 week challenge. whether i lose it in 12 weeks doesnt bother me as long as im continuously losing weight, i do wana lose weight fast though, otherwise my husband is gona have to get rid of machines and replace with different ones because i get bored easily. oo ive started doing jump rope well im teaching myself via youtube, im getting good not as good as rambo yet. Foysol can you do jump rope real fast..im gona really be jealous if you can lol. Ive read that if you can master jump rope you can lose 1000 calories in one hour as opposed to 300-500 doing the regular forms of cardio we all know of i.e gym machines or running. so im practicing everyday it seriously gets heart rate going more than the machines im using.
oo random comment anyone like tofu aka beancurd? im addicted to it, if firm tofu is used and cooked till crispy..i find it addictive, funny because its bland as anything. its like pregnant women who eat mud lol im sure no rabbit would eat tofu but i am .

Muslims are probably unhealthier than the general population in the UK because we (well I) are generally carnivores, and outdoor activities of half of our population would be severely restricted by cultural interpretations of what is required.
On the other hand, doing nothing is relaxing and fulfilling, far more than any work or exercise can ever be.

@Hajjar
i hate diets, i say just eat in small portions and just watch what you eat.(that's dieting isn't it?). i need to gain weight so it's all good for me, i make sure i take in a certain amount of protein, catbs etc.
The thing with self defence classes is that it teaches you to be confident but not arrogant as we learn didscipline too. i'm telling you honestly that my class is full of guys that act tough yet when it comes to demonstrating what they have learnt they shy away.
in my local swimming pool there's a brothers only day and a sisters only day organized by our local muslim communities so it's good for the sisters.
jump rope and skipping are the same thing right? well i only started recently and learnt how to do it from one video on youtube. it's all about getting the right rythm with your hands and your feet and slowly you gain speed. unfortunately for you i have to admit i'm pretty good at that now too
if you stop exercising the machines might not be the only thing your husband might get rid of LOL (ok bad joke)
i have to say though mash Allah at your efforts to keep fit. as well as keeping fit i think it is important that the husband and wife try their best to look good for eachother, cause you don't want to lose the attraction for eachother.
i wonder which is harder, losing weight or gaining weight hmmmm? i say gaining

Agreed. A balanced diet is a healthy diet and that doesn't mean just boring rabbit food :/
lol you idiot!
I wish I could say I beat you at the whole exercising thing Foysol

LOL! But OMG when you see a person running for the bus, and in your mind your like 'come oooon' AND THEN THEY MISS IT!!
Keeping to the subject, I LOVE SPORTS, actually with the exception of anything to do with a football size ball. I FREAK out when the ball comes towards me. I try smacking it away which thus results into handdball or whatever, which results into getting punched in the arm by a million people. And then when I ACTUALLY hit it, it goes smack into a a persons face, thus resulting into the same thing all over again. Needless to say when it comes to a ball game I'm always picked last. -_-
Other than that, gymnastics is cool, I never did master the splits though, well i never tried, I have an aversion to pain.
Does fishing count? Yes way! Wrestling with the line, when catching Nemo, is exercising.
I remember when I was young, and we were on holiday, my sister and I used to horse ride, then our parents found out...The rest is history. Stupid...okay delicate issue.
i'm sorry to hear that. that's why i wanna teach my sister self defence and then insha Allah she will be able to teach other sisters too. cause it is important that my sister does exercise for her health but there really is very limited ways of her doing it.
alhamdulillah she goes once a week to swimmimg but that's not enough, it's a shame there aren't many options for sisters in some places.

Snap!! Try it out at night time. (I know you shouldnt go out at night, but you know...)
LOL
And your parents found out what exactly...

OK you girls need to stop making me feel bad for being able to do exercise9 i know it's unintentional)
stop making excuses for being fat
you can do plenty of exercises at home like aerobics, pilates, push ups, sit ups etc if in doubt check out youtube.
plus nobody's there to judge you or show they're fitter than you. if you want motivation then look in the mirror
ok now i think that exercise will come in handy cause i'm gonna run away
Lets reunite the ummah under one flag LA ILAHA IL ALLAH MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH
I like being a fatty
pilates, aerobics etc are boring
"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

Ive always wondered why fat people (no offense to large poeple) wore tight clothes, then someone pointed out, it's not that they wore tight clothes it just that the clothes (which were initially not tight fitted) would be tight on them. BUT that doesnt explain the skinny jeans! HAH! AND why do some Asian ladies walk around in Saris and show their flabs?!!
 btw i was only joking
Lets reunite the ummah under one flag LA ILAHA IL ALLAH MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH

LOL this threads petty funny, and a lot longer than the last time I looked!
I feel like making u guys my lab bunnies lol
But everyones on a diet rlly, doesnt matter what u eat AND being on a diet doesnt mean that you have to deviate faaaar away from ur original diet, u just have to make small changes here and there that will show as a BIG one! It rlly does work, its not easy but what is right???
ps: eating veggies does not mean u wont gain weight. You could eat fruit all day but fruit still has calories and if u overeat more than u need ull still gain weight.
"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah, do hearts find rest"
I'm scared. Don't come near us EvilBunnyTorturingScientist!

it actually helps when gaining weight too, just slight differences and whatever she said
Lets reunite the ummah under one flag LA ILAHA IL ALLAH MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH

"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah, do hearts find rest"
Hahaha...:D
It actually makes you think though. Who would go out delibrately and flash flab in public?? I mean why traumatise other people and scar them for life?

I know Karaattaaaaae. Those wierdos on the streets don't call me Ninja for nothing!!
Scarred for life?! Those images will come with me to the grave!
i agree. gaining weight is harder than losing.
it's like "HOW THE HECK DO YOU DO IT?" and you dont want to ask, because everyoen think they are fat so when you say "how dyou gain weight" they look at you like you're demented and "WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DOOOOOO THAT?" and and it goes back to losing weight and you just sit there skinnyly..
i still dont know btw.. apart from drinking whole milk instead of semi skimmed...
and Fboy!! mashaaAllah you should defo do this! its the only way to get girls into sport. if a nice guy teaches a mahram girl and she passes it on. like my bro's karate teacher. he taught his wife who's now a blackbelt and his daughter as well, and his son who's green and i think 6/7 or something.
table tennis is good. and you dont need to expose yourself in any way or anything.
and the home gym is cool. i'd like a treadmill.
@Ocean. ignore the stupid people. go bike early, after Fajr or something. or in quiet roads or outskirt of town. dont let people stop you, especially if you're not doing anything wrong!!!!
