THE REVIVAL MARRIAGE BUREAU:-)

Sajid Iqbal β€”

salaam

After years of contemplation i have decided to go ahead with this project...setting up a voluntary marraige bureau...probbaly on line...

ONLY REASON is that i know tooo many ppl struggling to find a marriage partner....and hopefully through the revival we can set up a database and find suitable partners for ppl inshallah...

i have a few scholars on board aswell...

firstly i need ideas from ppl here...
is it good idea or not?
too many on line marriage bureaus already?
good for revival or negative?
will ppl be prepared to give us their personal details etc...

NEED AS MUCH FEEDBACK AS POSSIBLE...before i make the next decision...

I agree with Sirus....... It's a great Idea and maybe we could even use Sirus as our first trial test......Well he has already made a Cv ryt??? πŸ˜‚

And as you know already Ed, We here at London had a meeting in regards to this matter. We all agreed that it was a fantastic idea. There are many young brothers and sisters who can be helped. Who knows we might even end up making couples that really can have a long and prosperous life together........ I will give my 100% cooperation in this matter if it went ahead. Im all for it πŸ˜ƒ

So Ed its all upto you......... :?:

hola

i am very sorry to be nosey but if i may ask is this an acceptable way for muslims to meet? the internet has many dangerous people and advertising for marriage or approaching somebody you know nothing about for marriage feels immodest to me... i think muslims care about modesty as much as Catholics...

Good question. I have no idea how any of this will work and IMO it has potential to cause a lot of problems if not done right.

But then again we do not know how it will be implemented yet. I would hope there are safeguards in there from people just preying on others.

thats how arranged marraiges work

Naz β€” Tue, 5 Jun 2007 - 19:30

With arranged marriages or meeting ppl online it can be very risky BUT one should always put their trust in Allah (SWT) and trust their instinicts. If your instincts are telling you that they are dodgy then go with them. My instinct has never let me down till this day.

A friend was telling me that her sister had an arranged marriage but she was not sure whether they would get along so she read a Istikharaah.

for those who do not know what an istikharaah this site explains all.

from most of the responces so far i get the feeling ppl are not in favour of a revival marriag ebureau or would never considering chooisng a partner for marriage on line or through revival?????????????????????/

let me ask ppl:

if you dont have cousins here or back home...or other family relatives or family friends....or no friends...then how do you find a marriage partner?

AREN'T WE PROVIDING A CRUCIAL SERVICE FOR YOUNG MUSLIMS OUT THERE BY HELPING THEM TO CHOOSE AND FIND A MARRIAGE PARTNER IN A HALAL MANNER???

Ya'qub β€” Tue, 12 Jun 2007 - 14:46

i think people were not disagreeing with a marriage service in principle, they just said that there are many of these institutions already available, and asked a) what would revival do to make it stand out from the crowd; b) how would issues like security be monitored; and c) don't we have enough on our plate with both the magazine and our plans for world domination.

If you cant make friends then maybe you need to work on your social skills first  ... otherwise you shouldnt be allowed to reproduce.

The world doesnt need more socially awkward people.

I've had my graduation pics now πŸ˜ƒ

salaam

i mentioned this idea on the lets talk show the other day

already had some responce regarding it

I think rather than going for the on-line marriage bureau, i think the best idea is just to create a database of people who are looking to get married...then try to match suitable and compatible ppl. Spoke to Shaykh Salim Ghisa he said it was a good idea as long as we can make sure it doesnt lead to dating etc etc...

so what do ppl think...that its still a bad idea???

well anyone interested pls email: editor@therevival.co.uk

mmm β€” Mon, 8 Oct 2007 - 17:34

It's a good Idea! In Saudi Arabia they have organisations to help the disabled get married, why don't you do something to a similar effect i.e.

Divorcees Only,
Small people Nikah services,
Can't have children niether can I- marry me (i'm not joking- serious suggestions)

Now I am joking:

Underage?-Don't matter,
or even the special one you had in mind Ed - Darling your my number one, on every fourth day!!!

Sajid Iqbal β€” Thu, 11 Oct 2007 - 09:30
And whose gonna run it?
you leave that to me....

all we need at the moment is how many ppl here feel its good idea and who will add their details to the database...?

Noor β€” Thu, 11 Oct 2007 - 14:11

i think it's a good idea after listening to the marriage show. personally, i would never use it but i'm sure others will.

Naz β€” Thu, 11 Oct 2007 - 15:06

I think the question you should be asking yourself is how many ppl would put their trust in an oldhamer.

Imaani β€” Thu, 11 Oct 2007 - 16:36

Lol.

mmm I thought your post was really cruel. Ok it was a tiny bit funny, but still cruel. Everybody is human and everybody has feelings. Even divorced, small people who can't have any kids.

I think this is a great idea. But only if organised PROPERLY. As it's people's lives you're going to be dealing with. Think it's too much of a fledgling of an idea. But a good one.

Im not being sour and bitter just truthful.

All you non Oldhamers out there would your parents ever agree with you joining a marriage database which is being run by oldhamers? I know my parents wouldnt and they are open minded about a lot of things.

While most ppl on this forum have said it is a good idea no one wants to join. Some of the ppl on this forum are barely out of nappies and most are in education. Whats wrong with wanting to make something out of your life. There is plenty of time to settle down and have a couple of brats lol.

ps Why dont you tell all the non Oldhamers who gogo is (as mentioned by Oldham_Lad25) im sure they will be intrigued to know. πŸ˜ƒ

sorry dont mean to be cruel but you do need to be realistic.

I wouldn't mock people who can't have kids. It was a serious suggestion. The first three were all serious!

The last two weren't!! πŸ˜‚
