NO TOPIC

You โ€”

Well This is the new No Topic Topic. ๐Ÿ˜›

For those who do not know, this place is to talk about nothing. Nada. Zilch. And everything else which according to you does not deserve it's own topic.

The other one was getting a bit long, and was just full of bickering now.

So we have a new start.

The bickering in the Old no topic should not be carried over to here.

EDIT - go to NO TOPIC the Third.
my wisdom tooth is coming out and the pain is unbearable
Mine had to be taken out. Basically the assistant held my head while the dentist put a plier type object in my mouth and kept pulling till the teeth came out. They obviously injected me beforehand so I couldn't feel the pain.

Noor โ€” Sat, 8 Sep 2007 - 21:46

why did yours have to be taken out? only 1 of mine or coming out, hope the other 3 don't come out just yet.

Ya'qub โ€” Sun, 9 Sep 2007 - 01:08

I need to go to a Jewneral tomorrow (Jewish stone-setting ๐Ÿ˜› ) and as it is at a Synagogue apparently I will be asked to wear a scullcap.
Does anyone know if this halal?
100man is the skullcap like a symbol for anything?
cos I think its haram to wear like a crucifix cos it symbolises God in some way, but I'm not sure about a hat?

I've seen many non-Muslim women wear a headscarf when they visit a mosque out of respect, but I know there's this thing about imitating the kafirun (although Jews are not kafirun they are children of the book). 'm so confused and I have to go EARLY 2moro so would appreciate quick ideas!!!

Please help anyone!!

I don't wanna offend anyone (especially cos it'll be an emotional event). My sister is giving a eulogy cos one of best friends committed suicide 1 year ago. I didn't know the girl very well but she knew my mum and my sister so I wanna go to support them.

thank you for help ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Too many sweeties.

@Yaqub - I'm also not sure on whether you can wear the Jewish skullcap but maybe you can wear the Islamic skullcap as an alternative, only difference being the size.

You โ€” Sun, 9 Sep 2007 - 02:10

If it is a religious symbol, you are forbidden to wear it. But you COULD wear a normal hat? (in other words cover the front hair as well. If you do have hair...)

Joie de Vivre โ€” Sun, 9 Sep 2007 - 04:18

Ya'qub,

Any head covering will be fine although a baseball cap may be less appropriate. I advise wearing either an Islamic headcovering or something like a trilby. If you are worried, perhaps you can explain to someone there and ask if they could help find you a hat. Hope this reaches you in time. The kippah is not a religious symbol, just a convenient head covering, and although normally it might mark someone out as Jewish that obviously isn't the case in a synagogue. The stone-setting btw usually occurs long after the funeral so depending on the situation it mightn't be too emotionally difficult (a particular stone-setting in my family amounted to a much needed reconciliation between sisters). Throughout the day, people talking to one another may say "simchas", which means happier times (lit. parties), and to the bereaved, "chayim arukim" (sometimes "arichut yamim") - wishing them a long life. If it's a mouthful just say "I wish you a long life" to the bereaved.

Imaani โ€” Sun, 9 Sep 2007 - 19:34

My dad told all of us the other day if you have any pain with your wisdom teeth after they have come out, get them taken out. You will seriously regret it when you're older if you don't.

Don't know what to suggest apart from paracetamol, and gargle with salty water. I think all mine are out... I haven't had any pain at all alhamdulillah.

As someone not suffering from wisdom teeth pains, I sympathise with you.

Noor โ€” Sun, 9 Sep 2007 - 22:02

lol. it's only prison break ukhti! it's all made up, fake! the ahirah is real! allahmdulilah i've stopped tv since i've come back from camp, don't even watch the news! so inshaa'Allah no tv in ramadan shouldn't be a problem.

Ya'qub โ€” Sun, 9 Sep 2007 - 23:12

they didn't ask me to wear a hat in the end, quite a few people didn't. (we couldn't actually get IN the synagogue cos there were SO many people!

She was quite famous, or at least her father was. Hugo Gryn was quite a well-known champion of interfaith dialogue, and his daughter tried to carry this on working with a Muslim-Jewish drama group called 'MUJU' (i like the name) as well as many other things

She fit in more to her short life than many people fit into one that is 4 times the length. The whole experience was quite inspiring (as well as sad)

๐Ÿ˜‚

Naah, it is serious.

Last week (wednesday/thursday/someday) I got a pain in my foot. Thought I might have kicked something without realising. Ignored it.

Come saturday and the pain was so bad that I could not walk. Could not move my big toe so I assumed I had dislocated it.

Bathed it in hot salted water, and I broke out in high fever sweats, shivers and a whole lot more pain (worst that I can remember in my relatively pain free life). Apparently the joint was infected (don't ask how as there is no cut...). Went to hospital, got scans, anti-biotics and anti inflammatories.

Mum told someone, that someone said a friends of a friend of a friend had a pain in their foot once, and wrapping an egg around it fixed it.

My Mum: You must immediately do this now!
Me: what?!?!?! there is no sense to that! I know what is wrong, I am taking meds for it!
Mum: But that person was ok in a few short hours!
Me: But that was probably just a little pain for nothing!
Mum:but you will be ok by morning!
...
me a few hours later: ah, what the heck, I give up.

and guess what? It did not work. shocking stuff!

So, today here I am skiving work. again. But I have a valid reason this time.

I thought it might be one of your mum's friends friends friends remedy.

Oh and don't forget the vicks and vaseline - they both have the power to cure anything and EVERYTHING.
