Narrated Sahl bin Sad As-Sa'idi: [/i]
A woman came to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have come to give you myself in marriage (without Mahr)." Allah's Apostle looked at her. He looked at her carefully and fixed his glance on her and then lowered his head. When the lady saw that he did not say anything, she sat down. A man from his companions got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! If you are not in need of her, then marry her to me." The Prophet said, "Have you got anything to offer?" The man said, "No, by Allah, O Allah's Apostle!" The Prophet said (to him), "Go to your family and see if you have something." The man went and returned, saying, "No, by Allah, I have not found anything." Allah's Apostle said, "(Go again) and look for something, even if it is an iron ring." He went again and returned, saying, "No, by Allah, O Allah's Apostle! I could not find even an iron ring, but this is my Izar (waist sheet)." He had no rida. He added, "I give half of it to her." Allah's Apostle said, "What will she do with your Izar? If you wear it, she will be naked, and if she wears it, you will be naked." So that man sat down for a long while and then got up (to depart). When Allah's Apostle saw him going, he ordered that he be called back. When he came, the Prophet said, "How much of the Quran do you know?" He said, "I know such Sura and such Sura," counting them. The Prophet said, "Do you know them by heart?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet said, "Go, I marry her to you for that much of the Quran which you have."

I thought this was hadith only?

Ah well, this one is one of my faves. I heard it from Dr Naik in one of his videos and it made perfect sense. He said something like:

"You may like a thing which is bad for you, and, you may dislike a thing which is good for you".

So true.

This is best Hadith I think:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said " I leave behind only two great things for you. If you hold on to them tightly then you will never be astray. One is the Book of Allah and the other is my Family."

We Shias believe that only the family of Prophet (pbuh) can guide us to what the Sunnah is; and also to what is the true meaning of verses of the Holy Quran.

If we dont love the holy family then we are actually following our own evil nafs. This can leads of off the straight path.

Imam Jafar Sadiq, who was teacher of Imam Malik and Imam Abu Hanifa, said it is we the family of Allah's Messenger that are mentioned as the blessed people in Surah Fateha.

Therefore, if we wish to know what the true Sunnah is then we have to follow what Prophet's family tell us. Otherwise, we will go astray.

I'm sure the Prophet (pbuh) said the Book of Allah (Quran) and Sunnah (Hadith).

Here's something I came across. It's amazing how he was able to process this in less than a second despite being in a difficult situation.

Sayyidina Ali (may Allah honor his face) was fighting a kafir in one of the battles. During the battle Sayyidna Ali knocked him down and raised his sword to kill him. As soon as the kafir knew that he was going to be killed he spat in Sayyidna Ali’s face, so immediately Sayyidna Ali left him and went on his way. He was later asked, “Why did you leave him when Allah clearly gave you power over him?!” Sayyidna Ali replied, “I was fighting him for the sake of Allah, and when he spat in my face I feared that if I killed him it would have been out of personal revenge and spite.”

One of the sons of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, did not become a Muslim while they were in Mecca, and as you know, the affection of a father to his son is much greater then the affection of a son to his father. In Mecca, Sayyidina Abu Bakr tried with love and gentleness to convince his son as to the veracity of Islam. He used the best and loftiest means to try to bring him over to Islam, yet Allah had not decreed for him to become a Muslim just yet. Sayyidina Abu Bakr made Hijrah and later went to fight in the battle of Badr. This son of his also went out on the day of Badr, yet he was with the kuffar. The son was trying his best to avoid his father so they would not have to fight each other. Later, when his son accepted Islam, he said to his father, “Oh my father, on the day of Badr (when I was a kafir) I was avoiding you so we wouldn’t have to fight.” Sayyidina Abu Bakr replied to him, “As for me, if I met you on that day I would have killed you.”

Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When Allah desires good for one of His slaves, He brings forward the punishment for him in this world. When Allah desires evil for His slave, He withholds from him what is due to him on account of his wrong actions and then settles it on the Day of Rising."

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The greatest reward goes together with the greatest affliction. When Allah Almighty loves people, He tests them. All who are content receive His good pleasure. Those who are angry receive His anger." [at-Tirmidhi]

So this further increases him in self adulation, pride and arrogance - such that this becomes the cause for his destruction."[/b][/color]

So the rust of the heart is polished with dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), for dhikr polishes the heart until it becomes like a shiny mirror. However, when dhikr is abandoned, the rust returns; and when it commences then the heart again begins to be cleansed. Thus the heart becoming rusty is due to two matters: sins and ahafah (neglecting remembrance of Allaah). Likewise, it is cleansed and polished by two things : istighfaar (seeking Allaah's forgiveness) and dhikr."[/b][/color]

Sayyiduna Abd Allah ibn Burayda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates on the authority of his father.Then came to the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) a woman from Ghamid and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery, so purify me.? He (the Messenger of Allah) turned her away. On the following day she said: O Messenger of Allah! Why do you turn me away? Perhaps, you turn me away as you turned away . By Allah, I have become pregnant. He (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: Well, if you insist upon it, then go away until you give birth to (the child). When she delivered, she came to the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) with the child wrapped in a piece of cloth and said: Here is the child whom I have given birth to.He (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: Go away and suckle him until you wean him.? When she had weaned him, she came to him with the child who was holding a piece of bread in his hand and said: ?O Prophet of Allah! Here is the child, as I have weaned him and he eats food. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and then pronounced punishment. And she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. Khalid ibn al-Walid came forward with a stone which he flung at her head and because of it blood spurted on the face of Khalid and so he cursed her. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) heard him (Khalid) cursing her, hence he said: ?O Khalid, be gentle. By Him in Whose Hand is my life, she has made such a repentance that even if a wrongful tax-collector were to repent, he would have been forgiven. Then the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) gave order regarding her, hence he prayed over her and she was buried. (Sahih Muslim, no: 1695)

Quite a few people got off that punishment purely because there weren't four reliable witnesses or that the adulterer repented. But many people fail to see that.

duh...........I have tried that password reset button but it don't function properly. i got an automated email which should have triggered the process but never did.
