I'm sure in a famous hadith, the fourth attribute one can possibly look for in a potential spouse is that of Status.
ws
Salam
Yes. Umar is right.
Prophet did say that you can also marry a woman for her lineage.
You may prefer a woman of certain tribe over another.
Women of Sioux and Comanche tribes tend to be very brave females, while girls of the Blackfoot, Mandan, Pawnee and Cheynne clans are way too superstitiouss. And females of Cherokee, Lakota, Geronimo, Apache, Navajo, and Pueblo tribes are extremely shy.
Therefore, I might choose a woman because I like her parents more than her wealth or beauty.
The girl has got to have good genes.
Omrow
omro for ur info
status and tribe/caste are two diff things
Salam
Same thing. Different terms. Mediya. Furball.
Omrow
i dont know what tribe/caste I'm from
and nor do I care
but point is-u cant say people of such an such tribe/caste act in a certain way
thats just dumb
Salam
Dont you ever hear that the upper class, or the Royal Family, behaves diferently from the rest of us ?
And ask your dad. He will tell you the name of your clan.
Omrow
I did once-
he told me to ask my grandad-but he annoys me and lives on the other side of the world
and btw the royal family act the way they do cos of NURTURE not NATURE
they are only snobby and stupid cos they are brought up like that
not cos its in their genes
eerr so is status/clan or watever you wanna call it.
Nature doesn't provide us with labels to clans or tribes we do that.

who's 'they'?! cum on seraph, u cant b so vague wen it comes to ahadith... :?
The Prophet (s.a.w) said, "A woman is married for [any of] four reasons: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty or for her religion. So try to marry one who is religious, may your hands be smeared with dust." (Bukhari and Muslim)
"may your hands be smeared with dust" is an Arabic expression encouraging the person to perform the action.

"Purity is half of faith.......Prayer is the light...patience is illumination; and the Quran is an argument for or against you. Everyone starts his day and is a vendor of his soul, either freeing it or bringing about its ruin." Muslim
I'm getting into the general theme of The Revival.
My contribution is reviving old topics.
D) Nagability
Has to be extremely low as you cannot get zero nagability!
He who sacrifices his conscience to ambition, burns a picture to obtain the ashes!
To be honest, its got to be both
Obviously piety is important but so is beauty. They don't have to look like miss world but got to be 'alright' if you know what I mean.
You don't want to live with someone who looks like a witch all your life, I dunno maybe I'm being too picky.
IMO wealth isn't that much of an issue for boys, girls wanna marry someone who's financially stable, am I right? :?
You do realise that sounds a little shallow.... lol.... although i realise where your coming from. But the point id like to make as well to all the brothers out there who use this line is should ALSO gotta look 'alright' if your gonna demand such things otherwise it aint much of a match.

The second best wife is one who you don't like but who is wealthy and beautiful and has a soft spot for piety.

Lol. What's there not to like?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and wealth is dangerous.
Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.
Through cheating, stealing, and lying, one may get required results but finally one becomes
I see you agree with the Matching Hypothesis
No, - I'd go for piety. Of course money is important, but I'd rather have a really, really pious husband and be comfortable money-wise, than a pious husband and be really, really loaded.
I think I would find it really difficult to outright ask my husband for money for anything, I hope he's the type that just offers it, lol.
My sister was telling me about her friend today - her brother's having an affair, like her Dad did a few years back. Scary stuff. So I guess lineage is pretty important too.
lol what's the difference between pious and really really pious? (i enjoy reading your posts sis, your are so funny)
There’s this Arab saying…
“He who marries a gorilla for her money…when the money goes the gorilla remains a gorilla”.
I suppose this can be applied to anything that’s temporary such as looks, money etc etc
Oh you know what I mean.......
pious, as in prays 5 times a day, and really, really pious, as in regularly gets up in the night to pray tahujjud too.
So for the people who say only piety is important, would you then marry someone who was pious but was really really unattractive?
I'm assuming you'd say no, because both qualities are desired.
ALL the qualities stated in the hadith are important. Esp looks.
However, the overriding deciding factor should be ones piety...cos thats what shapes ones personality, and THATS what one has to spend the rest of his/her life with.
Piety can compensate for a lot of the other traits should they be lacking...however, nothing can compensate the absence of piety.
But what would you say is really really unattractive?
You see different ppl, go for different stuff.
I know girls whose husbands aren't all that, but to them they're everything. I can understand that. Me and my best friend both thought, when we were very young and quite immature, that this particular famous person was like sooooo fit. Her husband's nothing like him lol, but I bet she thinks he's better than that guy. Or I hope she does anyway!
If I had to pick ONE quality, it would be piety, but all are important.
That's what I was getting at, not only is piety important but so is looks.
I would not say piety so much as good-naturedness.

i would say IMO a man should marry a women for the only true intention that she will be someone that will help ragg him to the deen a lot more.
A rose protects its beauty with thorns..a woman protects hers with a veil
