What Do YOU Know About The Karbala?

MuslimSister

Salaam

Muhurrum starts next week. It’s the first month of the Islamic calendar and it’s when the Karbala took place.

It was in the battle of Karbala that Imam Hussain (ra) and most of his noble family was brutally killed on the battlefield by the armies sent by Yazeed bin Mu'awiyyah.

Up until only a few years ago…I knew absolutely nothing about Karbala. It is not something that’s stressed as much in many Mosques around here.

As a result many Sunni’s are ignorant about the events of Karabala.

There are many, many lessons to be derived from the events of Karbala….Imam Hussain (ra) did not compromise with the falsehood. He sacrificed not only his own life but all of his family and children for the sake of truth and to save the glory Islam. This teaches us that commitment to right and truth should be above all other personal benefit and interests.

What lessons or messages do YOU derive out of the events of Karbala?

Why are the events of karbala not narrated as much in many mosques?

How should we behave during this month? Is it wrong to express happiness and/or get married this month?

What do you know about what took place in the battle of Karbala? Do NOT copy paste long articles pls…

Why do people distribute haleem this month?

And maybe I’m asking for too much…but please, PLEASE be mature and humble enough to contribute to this thread without bashing shia’s/wahabi’s etc and make room for differences of opinion. Keep sectarianism out of this thread.

Please share all you know…

the karbala hapened in syria..
me an dmy family went to visit the places in syria.. we saw the big palace where yazeed put all the heads of the shaheed in a massive bowl.. and we also saw the place where they are supposed to be buried..
it was sooo scary and spiritual.. it made u think aboutall the sacrifices people have made for this blessed religion and how muslims these days just take them for granted..

the blessed head of imam hussain (ra) was carried from karbala to syria and then back to karbala after it spoke. its now buried with the rest of the blessed body.

don't you mean if it wasn't for Allah (swt) we would all be corrupt and condemned to hell?

That's what I thought; my calender which says the 10th Muharram is on Saturday, but internet sources and people are saying that Ashura is actually today (Friday).

Noor — Fri, 18 Jan 2008 - 00:54

islamically the new day starts after magrib so it means we fast the day after. muharram started on wednesday (after magrib) and the first fast was on thursday, so if we count 10 days from there, the 9th and 10th fast fall on friday and saturday.

If you truly forgot, but originally had the intention, then your fast is not broken (at least this is the case in Ramadan, I think it extends to voluntarily fasts too).

Say 'Alhamdulillah!' because Allah (swt) made you forget the fast so you could drink red bull and get energy!

mashaAllah!

Khawaja Muinuddin Chisty’s powerful verses epitomise the reverence and devotion of Muslims towards Imam Hussain

Islam Zinda hota hai har Karbala kay bad

Hussain was killed, but in reality Yazeed died

After every karbala, Islam is brought alive
a famous saying of nabi paak saw: ‘Hussian-o-Minni wa Ana Minul Hussain’; Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain. subhaanAllah!
Interesting Hadith this.

Whilst it is obvious and clear that Imam Hussain (RA) is from The Prophet (SAW), as his grandson, how is it that The Holy Prophet ﷺ is from Imam Hussain (RA)?

on the face of it, theres no logic to it and doesnt make much sense

Except that Imam Hussain's (RA) sacrifice ensured the continuation of the Ummah of the Beloved Messenger (SAW). Were it not for His (RA) sacrifice, then there would be no Ummah of The Prophet ﷺ left today. And that is how The Prophet ﷺ is from Imam Hussain (RA)

did you have a red bull today? if so, then you cant fast cz you've had something but if you haven't, then you can still keep the fast (this only applies if you remember before 12).

its just that I was taught that if you eat/drink something by accident while fasting, then it is a mercy from Allah (swt) and doesn't break the fast. I was wondering where you got the information from (especially about midday being the cut-off point).

yeah BUT he wasn't fasting was he? he hadn't made up his mind yet (i think). if you're fasting and you eat something by accident and then realise, your fast doesn't break. the midday bit, you have up to midday to make your niyya to fast thats if you forget to wake up in the morning to close your fast i.e, you made the niyya to fast but woke up after midday, then in that case you cant fast but if you woke up before 12 then you can.
