I've been told people are allowed to (not in front of the opposite gender) and the words cant be dirty/abusive/or about drugs/drink/killing ect as for bollywood songs hmmmmmm people have to think "what is this teaching us, are we benefitting from this" Allahu Alam, Allah knows best ๐
music the tool of the devil
salaam , music is haram you only need to go to a club to see the effects of music which leads to drugs, intermixing, sex, fighting . Anyone who listens to bollywood music should know bollywood helps fund the indian army and promoton of love relationships and hippop music promotes violence and drugs whereas pop music promotes intermixing and dancing. The only music considered halal is music that promotes islam and encourages good . I am guilty as i regurly listen to hippop music but im making an concious effort to stop so should we all. However we have to put it into context although music is bad it is a minor we should concentrate on stopping our other sins e.g. missing namaz.

saf i clearly advice u to ask aisha apa peerbhai....she"ll tell u straight,
believe your ustaads. i dunno if u still remember how dun we'd get for singing, and then them bollywood nasheeds were banned.
is singing allowed?? without the music!
nowt wrong wit singing in private... if the material is acceptable. If in company, it again depends on the company... and again the material.
If you must sing... try a few arabic nasheeds.... Tala'al Badru is very good...
You do not have to sing modern pap.

is singing allowed?? without the music!

So why are they called bollywood "nasheeds" surely if they were also suposed to be wrong (even if they have good lyrics) then they should be categorised as just bollywood songs and not "nasheeds", that to me seems a bit odd.
Btw isnt "nasheed" meant to refer to islamic material, first i have heard of these bollywood "nasheeds"
is singing allowed?? without the music!
the thing is angel the nasheeds were bollywood songs without the music,just a few wordings here and there were changed,most of the lyrics were exactly the same as the bollywood song,i think thats why they were banned from jamis,we use to sing the song instead of the nasheed!

[quote="Omrow"]Salam
Well, Masti girl, its the people who say that a particular thing is UNLAWFUL, it is those people that need to get off their butt and show that the thing is indeed unlawful.
It is NEVER up to the people who do something to prove that their action are lawful.
This is not Russia. This is Britain. GREAT BRITAIN.
