You cannot express such an opinion.

Your opinion is that they should not fast.

That is unacceptable.

their fast is pointless-its a fast that derives nothing but hunger

but like i said i would NEVER tell anyone not to fast

so its wrong to claim that I'm passing Fatwa's

i know its ur opinion.....but a rather stupid (?) one

The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.

Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,

my stupid opinion is based on the hadith of Prophet (pbuh) who mentions that some people derive nothing out of their fast other then hunger

yes....and he could see that, as can Allah swt

buuuuut you cant, nor can i

so for either of us to suggest to people not to fast is absurd

those who fast in such a way should be taught, not pushed aside

did i encourage anyone to go up to them people and tell them that they shouldnt fast?

i expressed my opinion

fasting and sinning/harming others is a pointless fast which derives nothing but hunger-words of the Prophet (pbuh)

u a smoker?

i doubt it

i dont know anyone who is a smoker on this forum-

my post was referring to them smokers who i personally know who fight/swear when they fast and upset others-cos of their cravings for a fag when they're fasting

i still say they their fast is pointless

but i wouldnt say this to their face

is this hadith helpful?

The Prophet(pbuh) said:

no im not a smoker, but i dont think you know everyone here personally to be so sure

it may be pointless, as that Hadith backs it, but Allah swt is the sole judge....and he decides whos fast is accepted

even one who thinks hes doin everyhting right...praying, abstaining from swears, etc.....they cant guarentee their fasts are accepted

we can only pray to Allah swt to accept all our fasts and to increase our Taqwa (Ameen).

Allah swt has even said in the Quran, Fasting is for me.

its a special deed which Allah swt will reward accordingly himself.

and you practically have said it to someones face by posting to the whole world here

i still say that its pointless-hadith backs my words up

i dont see anything wrong with expressing my opinion

just as u expressed ur opinion by saying that "homosexuality is lil bit worse"

i doubt the muslim ummah follows the opinions expressed by "LilSis" on the revival forum

its not up to me who's fast God accepts

nor is it up to me to TELL others what to do

but i have every right to say what I think and to express my opinions

if Mr Admin has a prob with that-he can delete my posts

he's an expert at that these days

lol

i think we both agree on the same thing

but i wouldnt say here nor to anyones face that its pointless them fasting, regardless of it bieng my opinion or not

we can only help these brothers and sisters and pray for them

your initial post did seem as you were tellin such people to abstain from fasting, as it is pointless

i think that Hadith was to encourage people to fast properly, not to accept that there fasts are pointless and consequently there is no need to bother

i agree-

but such people need to be AWARE that their fasts will become pointless if they dont do it properly

its like what mum says to me at iftari time when my baby sister is crying cos i hit her "whats the point of fasting if ur gonna make people upset-u might as well not fast"

i know she means that if ur gonna fast do it properly-otherwise its considered pointless

she dont mean that i should stop fasting

right agreed then!! Biggrin

Personally I dont think any1 can comment on the fast of another. If a person is a smoker and is irritable and gets easily angry in Ramadaan then we nonsmokers have no right to pass judgement on his fast. Astaghfirullah.

The fact that he is a smoker and he abstains from smoking for the sake of his fast should be encouraged and inshaALLAH this will be a means for him to quit, condemning him in my opinion is totally wrong but to say he gains nothing from his fast save hunger is indeed a great slander and accusation. Is it not his fear of ALLAH that he abstains from the cigarette and bes irritable rather than fulfilling hs desires and calming his nerves by having a quick hidden smoke?

every night my duaa is thank you Allah for giving me strength to keep this days fast and then i go on to ask forgiveness for all the swearing and shouting i've done. yesterday i only swore once today none the first day about 100 times

smoking is not the only reason for an angry Seema but its a major one as i have no food or drink cravings what so ever, the golden age of fasting when i did not have the habit fasting really was too easy but now with this added problem yes fasting is tres hard but one must try and be optimistic.

every sehri i ask Allah to keep my mouth shut and give me perseverance, every day is a challange - today was not a good day for shouting

i hope my fast is accepted i am trying, if it isnt accepted then it is entirely my own fault but each day i am ever optimistic

does this sound like a confession?

But the fast is still fardh on them. They get nothing more than fulfilling their obligation. That as a minimum good enough.
bte no of us know if our deeds are accepted anyway. Our duty is to do our bit, and Inshallah it will be accepted. But its not for us to say wether it is accepted.

EDIT BY ADMIN

Sis, Fasting is Fardh for all muslims of the right age, and sane mind and body.

You cannot ask for them not to fast.

calm down Mr-EDIT-WHEN- ITS-NOT-NEEDED

i said they shouldnt fast IMO

i would NEVER tell them NOT to fast

but I'm entitled to my opinion

unlike SOME people-I dont get my kicks outta passing fatwa's

The Prophet (pbuh) said that the one who dont give up bad actions when he/she is fasting- God does not care if he/she gives up food and drink

and EVRYONE knows that the people who inconvenience others with their religious actions-such worship aint accepted anyway

all I said that their fast is pointless-they might as well not fast IN MY OPINION

in my opinion u r crossing the line lilsis :?

how can u assume wot is going through a persons mind whilst their fasting? so wot if smokers get angry easily, for all u know they may be acknowledging this fault of theirs and striving to become better. i think its extremely selfish to say that because they are 'inconveniencing' those around them, they shouldnt fast.

i remember when it came to discussions on hijab, u got angry with ppl who said 'if a girl hangs around with guys, wears tight clothing etc. she might aswell not wear her hijab' (something to that effect). i dont see how ur argument here is any different.

It's already the 6th fast 2day,this month is flying by Sad

So what changes has anyone seen in themselves?

Have u managed to keep up with the goals u set?

I think this month has made me more emotional, after al my namaz i cry a lot didnt happen to me b4 in other yrs in ramdan :?

Also i cant help but think i dont want this month to go, its rather upsettin

i dont think I'm wrong-

feel free to think otherwise-i coudnt care less

people who inconveneince others/upset others need to be AWARE that fasting is more then food or drink

once AGAIN i reiterate-NO ONE is in a position to tell others not to fast

but I'm entitled to think what I want

fasting is a lot MORE then giving up food and drink

Salaam

No one is in a position to tell other people that they should not fast or whether their fast will be accepted or not. Fasting is Fardh.

However, everyone should be aware that fasting does not mean just abstaining from food or drink. And no, Allah (swt) does not accept the worship of those who upset/harm or inconvenience others.

Mothers have every right to give Nasehah to her kids. In order to get me to fast properly I was used to hearing “what’s the point of fasting if you’re gonna spend the day in front of the telly”.

I’ve heard wives say to their husbands who are heavy smokers “When you fast, everyone gets inconvenienced-you might as well not fast”.

The above statements do not literally mean that one should stop fasting, it’s just a figure of speech often used in order to encourage people to fast properly.

Loosely based on the saying of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) who has said “'If a person does not avoid false talk and false conduct during fast, Allah does not care if he abstains from his/her food and drink.' (Bukhari)

But it’s not advisable to use such “figure of speech” on a forum where people may take it literally.

Wasalaam

i think we all agree with the above post

jus LiLSiS's 1st post suggested such people needn't bother

but its been cleared up now

boy am i hungry

is it jus me or do you think of food more durin lectures?

I do.

I have a killer lecture tonight. It'll begin at 6.00 and finish at 9.00 and fast here breaks at 6.30..so I'll be dropping of in my lecture....wondering what everyone is eating at home.
