What do you think of the new look BBC News site?

You

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news - It seems a little weird, with large writing, big blocks and not enough text etc, it feels almost like a "My First Website"...

Nope. and I would have fixed the problem that they have - not enough text. Its like there is plenty of room on the layout where there is supposed to be text, but none exists.

And their writing style of small paragraphs does not benefit too well from having such wide lines.

I'm kidding, to be honest it's been a long time since this site looked at all in development, I think you sussed it. And you're right about the BBC mishandling space on the page - it must be partly for compatibility with the latest PDAs and mobiles but true it doesn't work yet. Then again I seem to recall they have had an odd transition once before. Maybe this is stage 2 or 3 in a longer process.

(thanks)

I think the problem is that they have not changed the content to match the new style of the site. The small subtexts and descriptions worked with the old layout, not with the new one, but if the tools are still set up for them to post like how it was before...

From tribune:

Joie de Vivre Main BBC issue for me is the bar at the top is just visually awkward. (And some of their political coverage.)

You not just the top bar, buit lower down, the main story is just begging to have a larger picture and more text under the title

You then the two stories under that also have their description below the title be too small, with the list on the right not far enough right.

You or if they only want two, then they need more text per piece.

You further down the "More from BBC News" section looks good.

Noor only semi decent thing about it

Joie de Vivre Yeah. What is this thing with the block of lighter red hanging down from the bar though, will that ever look good?
