Actually, no. issues of barakah, or lack thereof require more proof if they are the general case and not a specific.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
I cannot see how that ruling would not apply to mixed internet forums either? Like this site or ummah.com?
That is because the default assumption is flawed and wrong.
I would hazard that this place will make it LESS LIKELY for people to give into fornication.
As for Ummah, while I do not like the extremism that is commonplace in there, I have heard that the place has facilitated in marriage - and that is the proper way to avoid sins such as fornication and adultery, so in this instance, their presence is a good thing.
In both situations, I would say the presence of a mixed community is more likely to tackle and avoid such issues, so it is better and more rpeventative for some people to be in such communities than to not be in them.

Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
what?
Yes, people can say "there is no barakah here, I can feel it" but from there going into a general situation etc... I do not see how that leap can be made.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
Thank you.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
Are you just being polite when disagreeing with me?
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
Not at all it was a genuine expression of thanks. Your answer gives me information to think about. I have no opinion on the matter either way I am just learning.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
I keep thinking about that Saudi dude who shot his daughter for chatting on Facebook. I mean, do you think she really deserved to die for that?
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
He was in the wrong.
Even if she was doing something wrong, he was still wrong and there is no legitimising of his actions.
lol... I sorely missed facebook today, i 'studied' in the library for 10 HOURS!!!( I find that studying away from the 'hustle and bustle' of home allows one to imagine one has to a place of solitude and isolation, this assists when you're surrounded by FRIENDS AND THOSE WHO LURRVVVE TO DISTURB YOU WITH THEIR INCESSANT AND UNNECESSARY COMMENTS! am goin tomorrow as well inshAllah 😉 , i find it helps with my diet as we're not allowed eat in the library and cant be bothered to eat out!
Ive got my science modules comin up next week inshAllah! please pray!! im so nervous!
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
D'y'know what's funny... I went online at fajr, and found that there were TWENTY guests on here!! Is that normal?!
lol yeah can be quite normal i guess, depends ...some days i can be on here till really late, but nowadays cos of exams maybe its kinda quiet.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
I think the word to use is 'sick', however I wouldn't know as I am too old for these terminologies...
i don't think ur that old to stop using slang...or maybe girls dont use as much as guys to at ur age
and 'sick' or 'sik' are quite common
and i read someone saying its not cool to use 'cool' anymore ... 😂 cool has either come back into use again in both text talk and verbal aswel or it never went out of use... you find that as you get older you discover new slang etc ,new expectations and stuff
i think loads of people use cool but maybe more common at college or uni level as in kool, kwl, cool
o and people still use 'dude' lol
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
i think facebook is a disease, sorry it really needs to be destroyed. I have heard about ppl i know who were perfectly normal social individuals. Who are now wasting every single hour of their free time glued to facebook. Speaking to ppl they don't really know. Spending little or no time with their spouse, or parents, devoting more time to strangers than their own flesh and blood. sharing family pictures with strangers, intimate details of their lives. Things as intimate as what they ate for supper last night, i mean God forbid! i think it is abnormal. Really is it not enough that we have messenger?, email, forums. And to top it off twitter now that is worse, don't get me started lol
As for the little problem here, well i hate these so called social networking sites. how can a online site, where you "sight" no one be deemed a "social" experience lol.
Regardless of the lads who are decent or otherwise, just ditch facebook sister, spend time with us on this forum or email sisters you know. Most of all if something feels wrong most likely it is, keep safe sister.
heres funny link about facebook well it cheer me up. yes i know i said i dont listen to music but there is technically no instruments, and lyrics are not too bad,ps the justin timberlake cover they do is hilarious..ok enuff about my sad life. make sure u read lyrics under more info. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw5Yz-ZWm9Q
p.s true its not cool to say cool, the in word is "sick" lool
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
apart from last sentence, that made me loool. Thankyou for that, don't think it's helpful to the sister asking the question about whether facebook is haram. i don't think it is depending on how you are using it. forums, emails, messengers, mobile phones can be wrongly used as well, if the bad intention is there.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
It seems to have become an important tool to coordinate people in organisations, or even students wanting to study too.

No source.
Pretty simple though. You do things that are disliked and you loose blessings. Free-mixing can be necessary in which cases its not so "free" as its guided by a specific purpose but there is still the possibility of 'altering your behaviour to make a good impression' and associated neuroses.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
everything has an ability to "alter your behaviour to make an impression". If you follow the logic through, segregation should turn people towards homosexuality, so not free mixing would also lack barakah.
All in all, it depends on actions and intent IMO and everything has costs and benefits - fre mixing and segregation.
(I am coming to think that segregation may be a bad thing overall. A few of its down sides - such as artificial dependencies and the evils that arise out of such things through empowering the wrong people - can have very severe consequences.)
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
I don't say "don not free mix", rather, I'm saying "Know the negative effects that you will accrue and make your decision accordingly."
Sure, there are times when you need to mix with the opposite sex, that's just standard. But be aware that there will still be effects and consequences.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
curse you and your intellectually sound arguments.

Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
It's OK, Facebook, with anything spammy disabled. Keeps people sociable, as an online database of friends you might not have called or e-mailed; and sometimes good wishes or invitations are pleasantly surprising. Only things that bug me are being tagged or being contacted in public, especially (as just happened) if I'm replying on my phone mistakenly thinking it's a private message. I untag myself quite a lot - not everyone should read my flirtations or see where I've been.

cba - if people get it and understand, then so be it. if not, then they have a different view on things than me.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
fine then! be like that, don't help me understand!
🙂
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
I think he's trying to say, that some people who champion segregation are not necessarily people who should be supported. Just a guess.
I don't say "do not free mix", rather, I'm saying "Know the negative effects that you will accrue and make your decision accordingly."
Just to clarify, I don't just mean you might start flirting. That's way down the line.
I mean that spiritual losses occur first. For example the anecdote about Imam Shafi'i RA who accidentally saw part of a woman's calf and was unable to memorise (or recall - ironically, I forget which) anything for a while.
Re: FACEBOOK...HARAAAAM?!
I like facebook: to keep in contact with people, also by joining groups and stuff you get teh latest news, majority people have facebook..so easiest way to get across info...nobody emails nowadays (hardly) so convinient...and texting/calling does cost..so facebook is great for keeping in contact!
But what I don't like is: spending way too long on it...I mean there is a life outside facebook..I dont like how people look through pictrues of people they don't even know..if you have an addiction problem and are worried or always complaining about it..then do something about it, basically.
