I came to cairo on an expat package to work...school should have started on the 20th of August...but I've been sitting in my flat since the 17th of August BORED.
I've been told that school's will reopen on the 11th of Oct...but rumour has it that it may be postponed till Jan.
I've been over sleeping, over eating and shopping in excess to pass time. And a lazy life of leisure does not suit me.
And more annoyingly, when the kids DO come back teachers will have to work a 6day week to make up the lost time, cos we're a fee paying international school!
So, yeah I am a tad bit annoyed.

Have you tried advertising private tuition? Or Teaching adults English (I'm sure they're not 100% strict about full qualifications since you have a PGCE).

"the" conspiracy theory? there is only one conspiracy theory?
People have too much time on their hand.
The law of conspiracy theories goes that the more boring your life is, the more intricate/detailed/stupid conspiracy theories you will develop or accept. Since I rarely buy into them, my life must be extremely interesting. Huzzah.

I'm back to school - working a 6day week to make up for the time the government made us take off. If we get ANY outbreak, we're shutting down again.
To prevent any outbreaks, this is what we must do.
All AC's must be shut in school to prevent the circulatation of air/germs (try teaching 25 hyper kids when the weather is 35plus most days)
No whole school assemblies
kissing, shaking hands, touching is strictly forbidden.
All kids must use the hand sanitiser when they enter/leave the classroom (imagine the chaos every day).
classrooms must be cleaned and wiped down with alcohol each time kids enter/leave the classroom.
The country has gone mad.
swine flu vaccine's gna start next week
