Doesn't break your fast. But if possible to plan ahead it's better to schedule vaccinations outside of Ramadan, because they can make you feel sick and it's probably healthy to be able to drink water.

Is this correct? I had thought the only significance for the date had come from near the end when the Prophet ﷺ said something on the lines that if he lived til the following year, he would fast on three days?

vaccinations give no energy.

Other types of injections that are there to give you energy are a different thing.

but it's a necessary thing for some people to live! It doesn't mean their fasting isn't accepted.

Everyone who went on Umrah with me got their jabs during ramadan - and we wouldn't have without being sure it was ok.

Maybe your dad is talking about going on a drip that pumps glucose/salt water into you.

Jabs are rarely into the vein - thye go into the muscle.

i took a some lectures for fasting and its fiqh. according to the technical definition of saum (fasting),
"nothing should be allowed to enter the body cavity through the five openings,, these r mouth, nose, ears, front and back passage of the private parts".
so according to this definition injections of any kind, whether vaccines or normal doesn't break ur fast. however drips & injections for nutritional purposes come in the grey area & should be avoided.
i hope this clears out some confusions about the fast 🙂

I have read that ear drops can break the fast if you put so much in that they go too far into the ear that they go inside or something, but that is not normal and the exact anatomical terminology fails me and I cba to google.

EDIT - quick google says that both are allowed.

Is it fasting or ihram where you shouldn't wear perfume?

ihram. WHich also means trying to avoid touching the cloth around the ka'bah as that is very perfumed...
