Music is alright as long as the lyrics are OK. If the lyrics are dodgy, then..... it's best to stay away. There is good Western music out there, beleive it or not. Such as:

Patience- Take That
Shine- Take That
Powerless (Say What you Want)- Nelly Furtado
Cry- James Blunt
Same Mistake- James Blunt
Unwritten- Natasha Bedingfield
I Bruise Easily- Natasha Bedingfield
Bad Day- Daniel Powter
Complicated- Avril Lavigne
Father and Son- Ronan and Yusuf
If Tomorrow Never Comes- Ronan Keating

You're funny. I enjoy sarcasm.

Seriously though: any good Western music?

So, there is nothing wrong with Gorillaz then?

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless,but not for long
The future is coming on
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on

‘Cause I like you just the way you are

Can you handle me the way I are?
(Keri)
I don’t need the G’s or the car keys
Boy I like you just the way you are
(Keri & Timbaland)
Let me see ya strip, you can get a tip
‘Cause I like you just the way you are

Maroon 5
[Chorus]
Give me something to believe in
Cause I don't believe in you anymore
Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to try
(Yeah)
So this is goodbye

Virtual Insanity - Jamiroquai

ahh...pop music was actually GOOD in 1995/6...

[quote]It is a wonder man can eat at all
When things are big that should be small
Who can tell what magic spells we’ll be doing for us
And I’m giving all my love to this world
Only to be told
I can’t see, I can’t breathe
No more will we be
And nothing’s going to change the way we live
’Cause we can always take but never give
And now that things are changing for the worse
See, whoa, it’s a crazy world we’re living in
And I just can’t see that half of us immersed in sin
Is all we have to give these

Futures made of virtual insanity now
Always seem to be governed by this love we have for
Useless, twisting, of the new technology
Oh now there is no sound, for we all live underground

And I’m thinking what a mess we’re in
Hard to know where to begin
If I could slip the sickly ties that earthly man has made
And now every mother can choose the colour of her child
That’s not nature’s way
Well that’s what they said yesterday
There’s nothing left to do but pray
I think it’s time to find a new religion
Whoa, It’s so insane
To synthesize another strain
There’s something in these
Futures that we have to be told

Futures made of virtual insanity now
Always seem to be governed by this love we have for
useless, twisting, of the new technology
Oh now there is no sound, for we all live underground[/quote]

When We Were Friends - Cee-Lo

[quote]When We Were Friends

When we were friends, the days would begin and end
Went from boys to men, we boys 'til then
We know each other real, we know each other rules
And we wore each other's clothes and each other's shoes
But in an instant, the days become distant
Your path doesn't go in the same direction his went
And can't help but be scared
Of the virtually unknown up ahead (I heard what you said)
But I'll be fine
Whether it is favor or failure, it must be mine
Well he can stand still, if that's how that man feel
Cuz what can't can't and whatever can will
So I'm walking toward my future with my back to it
Hoping you look up and see me as a reason to do it
When you get grown it's a given
You damn near gotta do the same thing for a living

He's my cousin I love him like a son cause I was him
And he think his thuggin' pleases me but it doesn't
How could I applaud it when I had caused it
But if it's God's plan for him, I guess I ain't cost s***
for what I gave him - wasn't so bad I couldn't save him
Either they'll enslave him or a gun'll grave him
I still believe in him but he think I'm leavin him
When I be busy he think I'm bob-n-weavin him
I probably sound like his daddy
But over the phone, cause I ain't around - like his daddy
When we talk I wanna hear you be productive
Conversate for hours 'bout something constructive
But it never come up
With all them n***** round your neck you ain't gon' never come up
Maybe I'm jealous cause you love them more
Can't understand what you love them for
Don't get me wrong you know I love them too
But you know who I always hold above them: you
And it ain't nobody business
I'll just make believe that music can miraculously mend this
So I'll be a sound
And then you do your thing to it and we mix it down
And make a song, cause even when I'm away I'll always be around [/quote]

Naz — Tue, 27 Nov 2007 - 18:07

@ Funzi you have copy and pasted what suits you and what you want ppl to see and think. Here are the lyrics in full for both songs.

[b]Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder lyrics
[/b]
[Verse]
I wake up with blood-shot eyes
Struggled to memorize
The way it felt between your thighs
Pleasure that made you cry
Feels so good to be bad
Not worth the aftermath, after that
After that
Try to get you back

[Bridge]
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a f*** about you

[Chorus]
Give me something to believe in
Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to try
(Yeah)
So this is goodbye

[Verse]
God damn, my spinning head
Decisions that made my bed
Now I must lay in it
And deal with things I left unsaid
I want to dive into you
Forget what you're going through
I get behind, make your move
Forget about the truth

[Bridge]
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a f*** about you

[Chorus 1 + 2]
Give me something to believe in
Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference,
It even makes a difference to try (yeah)
And you told me how you're feeling
But I don't believe it's true
Anymore, Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
(Oh no)
So this is goodbye

[Breakdown]
I've been here before
One day I'll wake up
And it won't hurt anymore
You caught me in a lie
I have no alibi
The words you say don't have a meaning
Cause..

[Bridge]
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a f*** about you and I...
And so this is goodbye

[Chorus 1 + 2]
Give me something to believe in
Cause I don't believe in you,
Anymore, Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference,
It even makes a difference to try
And you told me how you're feeling
But I don't believe it's true
Anymore Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye

[b]Timbaland- Way I Are [/b]
Voice in Background)
State of Emergency
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Remember the time baby (echos)
Yeah yeah

I ain't got no money
I ain't got no car to take you on a date
I can't even buy you flowers
But together we can be the perfect soulmates
Talk to me girl

[Bridge - Keri Hilson]
(Oh) Baby, it's alright now, you ain't gotta flaunt for me
If we go dutch, you can still touch my love, it's free
We can work without the perks just you and me
Thug it out 'til we get it right

[Chorus] - Keri Hilson & (D.O.E)
Baby if you strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
(I'm about to strip and I need it quick
Can you handle me the way I are?)
I don't need the G's or the car keys
Boy I like you just the way you are
Let me see ya strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like, I like, I like...

[Verse 2 - Timbaland]
I ain't got no Visa
I ain't got no Red American Express
We can't go nowhere exotic
It don't matter 'cause I'm the one that loves you best
Talk to me girl

[Bridge 2 - Keri Hilson]
(Oh), baby, it's alright now, you ain't gotta flaunt for me
If we go and touch, you can still touch my love, it's free
We can work without the perks just you and me
Thug it out 'til we get it right

[Chorus] - Keri Hilson & (D.O.E)
Baby if you strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are
(I'm about to strip and I need it quick
Can you handle me the way I are?)
I don't need the G's or the car keys
Boy I like you just the way you are
Let me see ya strip, you can get a tip
'Cause I like you just the way you are

[Verse 3 - D.O.E.]
Yeah, baby girl, I don't got a huge ol' house I rent a room in a house
Listen baby girl, I ain't got a motorboat but I can float ya boat
So listen baby girl, once you get a dose of D.O.E. you gon' want some mo'
So listen baby girl, when I make it I want you there, want you there, want you there, yeah

[quote="Naz"]@ Funzi you have copy and pasted what suits you and what you want ppl to see and think. Here are the lyrics in full for both songs.[/quote]
If you were smart you would have realised they were both choruses.

Naz — Tue, 27 Nov 2007 - 18:20

what use is it just having the chorus. One should judge the song based on all the words.

Funzo — Tue, 27 Nov 2007 - 18:22

I did it so it was easier to read, not everyone has the time to read loads of writing, i thought it was easier.

Naz — Tue, 27 Nov 2007 - 18:27

true but sometimes the chorus can be misleading without knowing the words that come before and after it. Its like having the Qur'an without the hadith, Yin without Yang.

Funzo — Tue, 27 Nov 2007 - 18:44

Valid point, sorry about the late reply just forgot about your post and again valid point but i hope you understand why i put the choruses.

so theres new members and the oldies didnt post that much again what do you listen to?

Young Anonymou… — Sun, 19 Oct 2008 - 20:59

Well, i only listen to Muslim songs/anasheed, you know like Native Deen, Sami Yusuf, Hamza Robertson, 786 e.t.c. I'm with the opinion that only percussion instruments are allowed, as i think thats the middle way.
🙂
